1 T his letter is from Paul. I am in prison because of Jesus Christ. Brother Timothy is also writing to you, Philemon. You are a much-loved workman together with us.

Pablo, prisionero de Cristo Jesús, y el hermano Timoteo: A Filemón nuestro amado hermano y colaborador,

2 W e are also writing to the church that meets in your home. This letter is also for our Christian sister Apphia and it is for Archippus who is a soldier together with us.

y a la hermana Apia, y a Arquipo, nuestro compañero de lucha, y a la iglesia que está en tu casa:

3 M ay God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you His loving-favor and peace.

Gracia a ustedes y paz de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Amor y la Fe de Filemón

4 I always thank God when I speak of you in my prayers.

Doy gracias a mi Dios siempre, haciendo mención de ti en mis oraciones,

5 I t is because I hear of your love and trust in the Lord Jesus and in all the Christians.

porque oigo de tu amor y de la fe que tienes hacia el Señor Jesús y hacia todos los santos.

6 I pray that our faith together will help you know all the good things you have through Christ Jesus.

Ruego que la comunión (participación) de tu fe llegue a ser eficaz por el conocimiento de todo lo bueno que hay en ustedes mediante Cristo (el Mesías).

7 Y our love has given me much joy and comfort. The hearts of the Christians have been made happy by you, Christian brother.

Pues he llegado a tener mucho gozo y consuelo en tu amor, porque los corazones de los santos han sido confortados por ti, hermano. Pablo Intercede por Onésimo

8 S o now, through Christ, I am free to tell you what you must do.

Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha libertad (confianza) en Cristo para mandarte hacer lo que conviene,

9 B ut because I love you, I will only ask you. I am Paul, an old man, here in prison because of Jesus Christ.

no obstante, por causa del amor que te tengo, te hago un ruego, siendo como soy, Pablo, anciano, y ahora también prisionero de Cristo Jesús:

10 I am asking you for my son, Onesimus. He has become my son in the Christian life while I have been here in prison.

te ruego por mi hijo Onésimo, a quien he engendrado en mis prisiones;

11 A t one time he was of no use to you. But now he is of use to you and to me.

quien en otro tiempo te era inútil, pero ahora nos es útil a ti y a mí.

12 I am sending him back to you. It is like sending you my own heart.

Y te lo he vuelto a enviar en persona, es decir, como si fuera mi propio corazón.

13 I would like to keep him with me. He could have helped me in your place while I am in prison for preaching the Good News.

Hubiera querido retenerlo conmigo, para que me sirviera en lugar tuyo en mis prisiones por el evangelio (las buenas nuevas).

14 B ut I did not want to keep him without word from you. I did not want you to be kind to me because you had to but because you wanted to.

Pero no quise hacer nada sin tu consentimiento, para que tu bondad no fuera como por obligación, sino por tu propia voluntad.

15 H e ran away from you for awhile. But now he is yours forever.

Porque quizá por esto se apartó de ti por algún tiempo, para que lo volvieras a recibir para siempre,

16 D o not think of him any longer as a servant you own. He is more than that to you. He is a much-loved Christian brother to you and to me.

ya no como esclavo, sino como más que un esclavo, como un hermano amado, especialmente para mí, pero cuánto más para ti, tanto en la carne como en el Señor.

17 I f you think of me as a true friend, take him back as you would take me.

Si me tienes, pues, por compañero, acéptalo como me aceptarías a mí.

18 I f he has done anything wrong or owes you anything, send me the bill.

Y si te ha perjudicado en alguna forma, o te debe algo, cárgalo a mi cuenta.

19 I will pay it. I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will not talk about how much you owe me because you owe me your life.

Yo, Pablo, escribo esto con mi propia mano. Yo lo pagaré (por no decirte que aun tú mismo te me debes a mí ).

20 Y es, Christian brother, I want you to be of use to me as a Christian. Give my heart new joy in Christ.

Sí, hermano, permíteme disfrutar este beneficio de ti en el Señor. Recrea (Conforta) mi corazón en Cristo.

21 I write this letter knowing you will do what I ask and even more.

Te escribo confiado en tu obediencia, sabiendo que harás aún más de lo que digo.

22 P lease have a room ready for me. I trust God will answer your prayers and let me come to you soon.
