1 T hen the Lord said to Moses,

Entonces el Señor habló a Moisés:

2 “ Say to the people of Israel, ‘When a woman gives birth to a male child, she will be unclean for seven days as during her time each month.

“Di a los Israelitas: ‘Cuando una mujer dé a luz y tenga varón, quedará impura por siete días; como en los días de su menstruación, será impura.

3 O n the eighth day the child is to go through the religious act of becoming a Jew.

Al octavo día la carne del prepucio del niño será circuncidada.

4 T he mother will be unclean for thirty-three days, until her blood stops flowing. She will not touch any holy thing or go into the holy place, until the days for making her clean are finished.

Y ella permanecerá en la sangre de su purificación por treinta y tres días; no tocará ninguna cosa consagrada ni entrará al santuario hasta que los días de su purificación sean cumplidos.

5 I f she gives birth to a female child, she will be unclean for two weeks, as during the time she is unclean each month. She will be unclean for sixty-six days, until her blood stops flowing.

Pero si da a luz una niña, quedará impura por dos semanas, como en los días de su menstruación; y permanecerá en la sangre de su purificación por sesenta y seis días.

6 ‘ When the days for making her clean are finished, for a son or for a daughter, she will bring her gifts to the religious leader at the door of the meeting tent. She will bring a one year old lamb for a burnt gift, and a young pigeon or a turtle-dove for a sin gift.

Cuando se cumplan los días de su purificación por un hijo o por una hija, traerá al sacerdote, a la entrada de la tienda de reunión, un cordero de un año como holocausto, y un pichón o una tórtola como ofrenda por el pecado.

7 T hen he will give it to the Lord and pay for her sins. She will be made clean from the flow of her blood. This is the Law for her who gives birth to a son or daughter.

Entonces él los ofrecerá delante del Señor y hará expiación por ella, y quedará limpia del flujo de su sangre. Esta es la ley para la que da a luz, sea hijo o hija.

8 B ut if she does not have enough money for a lamb, then she will take two turtle-doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt gift and the other for a sin gift. The religious leader will pay for her sins and she will be clean.’”

Pero si no le alcanzan los recursos para ofrecer un cordero, entonces tomará dos tórtolas o dos pichones, uno para el holocausto y el otro para la ofrenda por el pecado; y el sacerdote hará expiación por ella, y quedará limpia.’”
