1 A aron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, each took his fire pan, put fire in it, and put special perfume on it. They gave a fire that was not holy to the Lord because the Lord had not told them to do this.

Pero Nadab y Abiú, hijos de Aarón, tomaron sus respectivos incensarios, y después de poner fuego en ellos y echar incienso sobre él, ofrecieron delante del Señor fuego extraño, que El no les había ordenado.

2 S o the Lord sent out fire that burned them up and they died before the Lord.

Y de la presencia del Señor salió fuego que los consumió, y murieron delante del Señor.

3 T hen Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord meant when He said, ‘I will show Myself holy among those who are near Me. I will be honored in front of all the people.’” And Aaron said nothing.

Entonces Moisés dijo a Aarón: “ Esto es lo que el Señor dijo: ‘Como santo seré tratado por los que se acercan a Mí, Y en presencia de todo el pueblo seré honrado.’” Y Aarón guardó silencio.

4 M oses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, the brother of Aaron’s father. He said to them, “Come, carry your brothers away from the holy place and away from the tents.”

Moisés llamó también a Misael y a Elzafán, hijos de Uziel, tío de Aarón, y les dijo: “Acérquense, llévense a sus parientes de delante del santuario, fuera del campamento.”

5 S o they came and carried them in their coats away from the tents, as Moses had said.

Y ellos se acercaron y los llevaron fuera del campamento todavía en sus túnicas, como Moisés había dicho.

6 T hen Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “Do not take the covering off your heads and do not tear your clothes, so you will not die and God will not be angry with all the people. But your brothers, the whole house of Israel, will cry in sorrow because of the burning the Lord has done.

Luego Moisés dijo a Aarón y a sus hijos Eleazar e Itamar: “No descubran su cabeza ni rasguen sus vestidos, para que no mueran y para que El no desate todo Su enojo contra toda la congregación. Pero sus hermanos, toda la casa de Israel, se lamentarán por el incendio que el Señor ha traído.

7 D o not even go out the door of the meeting tent, so you will not die. For the holy oil of the Lord is upon you.” And they did what Moses said. How the Religious Leaders Were to Act

8 T he Lord said to Aaron,

9 “ Do not drink wine or strong drink, you or your sons, when you come into the meeting tent, so you will not die. It is a Law forever for all your people.

“Ustedes no beberán vino ni licor, ni tú ni tus hijos contigo, cuando entren en la tienda de reunión, para que no mueran. Es un estatuto perpetuo por todas sus generaciones,

10 Y ou are to know the difference between what is holy and what is not, and between what is clean and what is not.

y para que hagan distinción entre lo santo y lo profano, entre lo inmundo y lo limpio,

11 Y ou are to teach the people of Israel all the Laws which the Lord has told them by Moses.”

y para que enseñen a los Israelitas todos los estatutos que el Señor les ha dicho por medio de Moisés.”

12 T hen Moses said to Aaron and his sons who were left, Eleazar and Ithamar, “Take the grain gift that is left from the gifts by fire to the Lord. And eat it without yeast beside the altar, for it is most holy.

Entonces Moisés dijo a Aarón y a los hijos que le quedaban, Eleazar e Itamar: “Tomen la ofrenda de cereal que queda de las ofrendas encendidas para el Señor, y cómanla sin levadura junto al altar, porque es santísima.

13 E at it in a holy place, because it is yours and your sons’, from the gifts by fire to the Lord. For so I have been told.

La comerán, pues, en lugar santo, porque es la porción tuya y la porción de tus hijos de las ofrendas encendidas al Señor; porque así se me ha ordenado.

14 B ut you and your sons and daughters may eat in a clean place the breast of the wave gift and the thigh that is given. For they are given to you as your right and your sons’ right, from the peace gifts of the people of Israel.

Sin embargo, el pecho de la ofrenda mecida y la pierna de la ofrenda pueden comerlos en un lugar limpio, tú, y tus hijos y tus hijas contigo; porque han sido dadas como la porción tuya y la de tus hijos de los sacrificios de las ofrendas de paz de los Israelitas.

15 T hey will bring the thigh that is given and the breast of the wave gift, with the gifts by fire of the fat. They will wave them before the Lord for a wave gift. They will be yours and your sons’, as your right forever, as the Lord has said.”

La pierna que fue ofrecida levantándola, y el pecho que fue ofrecido meciéndolo, los traerán junto con las ofrendas encendidas de los pedazos de grasa, para presentarlos como ofrenda mecida delante del Señor. Así será para siempre la porción tuya y la de tus hijos contigo, tal como el Señor ha ordenado.”

16 B ut Moses looked and looked for the goat of the sin gift, and found that it had been burned up! So he was angry with Aaron’s sons who were left, Eleazar and Ithamar, saying,

Moisés preguntó con diligencia por el macho cabrío de la ofrenda por el pecado, y aconteció que había sido quemado. Y se enojó con Eleazar e Itamar, los hijos que le habían quedado a Aarón y les dijo:

17 “ Why have you not eaten the sin gift in the holy place? For it is most holy and He gave it to you to take away the guilt of the people, to take away their sins before the Lord.

“¿Por qué no comieron la ofrenda por el pecado en el lugar santo? Porque es santísima y les ha sido dada para quitar la culpa de la congregación, para hacer expiación por ellos delante del Señor.

18 S ee, its blood has not been brought inside the holy place. You should have been sure to eat it in the holy place, as I told you.”

Miren, puesto que la sangre no había sido traída dentro, al santuario, ciertamente debieran haber comido la ofrenda en el santuario, tal como yo ordené.”

19 B ut Aaron said to Moses, “See, today they have given their sin gift and their burnt gift to the Lord. When things like these happened to me, if I had eaten a sin gift today, would it have been good in the eyes of the Lord?”

Pero Aarón respondió a Moisés: “Mira, hoy mismo han presentado ellos su ofrenda por el pecado y su holocausto delante del Señor. Ya que esto me ha sucedido, si yo hubiera comido hoy de la ofrenda por el pecado, ¿hubiera sido grato a los ojos del Señor ?”

20 A nd when Moses heard that, he was not angry any more.

Cuando Moisés oyó esto, quedó satisfecho.
