1 T hen I heard Him call out in a loud voice, “Come near, you who punish the city, each with a destroying ax in his hand.”

Entonces Dios gritó a mis oídos con gran voz, diciendo: “Acérquense, verdugos de la ciudad, cada uno con su arma destructora en la mano.”

2 A nd I saw six men coming from the upper gate on the north side. Each man had his battle-ax in his hand. Among them was a certain man dressed in linen, with things for writing at his side. And the men went in and stood by the brass altar.

Y seis hombres venían por el camino de la puerta superior que mira al norte, cada uno con su arma destructora en la mano. Entre ellos había un hombre vestido de lino con una cartera de escribano a la cintura. Y entraron y se pusieron junto al altar de bronce.

3 T hen the shining-greatness of the God of Israel went up from the cherub where it had been, to the door of the Lord’s house. And He called to the man dressed in linen with the things for writing at his side.

Entonces la gloria del Dios de Israel subió del querubín sobre el cual había estado, hacia el umbral del templo. Y llamó al hombre vestido de lino que tenía la cartera de escribano a la cintura;

4 T he Lord said to him, “Go through the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who cry inside themselves over all the hated sins which are being done among them.”

y el Señor le dijo: “Pasa por en medio de la ciudad, por en medio de Jerusalén, y pon una señal en la frente de los hombres que gimen y se lamentan por todas las abominaciones que se cometen en medio de ella.”

5 B ut to the others I heard Him say, “Go through the city after him, and destroy. Do not let your eye have pity. And do not let any sinner go without punishment.

Pero oí que a los otros les dijo: “Pasen por la ciudad en pos de él y hieran; no tenga piedad su ojo, no perdonen.

6 K ill and destroy old men, young men, young women, little children, and women. But do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at My holy house.” So they started with the leaders who were in front of the Lord’s house.

Maten a viejos, jóvenes, doncellas, niños y mujeres hasta el exterminio, pero no toquen a ninguno sobre quien esté la señal. Comenzarán por Mi santuario.” Comenzaron, pues, con los ancianos que estaban delante del templo.

7 H e said to them, “Make the house of worship unclean and fill the open spaces with the dead. Go out!” So they went out and killed the people in the city.

Entonces les dijo: “Profanen el templo y llenen de muertos los atrios. ¡Salgan!” Y salieron, y fueron hiriendo por la ciudad.

8 A s they were killing, I alone was left, and I fell on my face and cried out, “It is bad, O Lord God! Are You destroying all the people of Israel who are left, by pouring out Your anger on Jerusalem?”

Mientras herían, quedé yo solo y caí sobre mi rostro; clamé y dije: “¡Ah, Señor Dios! ¿Destruirás a todo el remanente de Israel derramando Tu furor sobre Jerusalén ?”

9 T hen He said to me, “The sin of the people of Israel and Judah is very, very bad. The land is filled with blood, and the city is full of wrong-doing. For they say, ‘The Lord has left the land, and the Lord does not see.’

Entonces el Señor me respondió: “La iniquidad de la casa de Israel y de Judá es grande en extremo, la tierra está llena de sangre y la ciudad está llena de perversión; porque dicen: ‘El Señor ha abandonado la tierra, el Señor nada ve.’

10 B ut as for Me, My eye will have no pity, and I will not leave any sinner without punishment. I will bring their wrong-doing upon their own heads.”

Pero en cuanto a Mí, tampoco Mi ojo tendrá piedad, ni Yo perdonaré, sino que haré recaer su conducta sobre sus cabezas.”

11 T hen I saw the man dressed in linen, who had the things for writing at his side, come and say, “I have done just as You have told me.”

Entonces el hombre vestido de lino que tenía la cartera a la cintura, trajo un informe, diciendo: “He hecho tal como me ordenaste.”
