1 H ezekiah became king when he was twenty-five years old. And he ruled for twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

Ezequías comenzó a reinar cuando tenía veinticinco años, y reinó veintinueve años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Abías, hija de Zacarías.

2 H ezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He did all that his father David had done. Hezekiah Makes the House of God Holy Again

Ezequías hizo lo recto ante los ojos del Señor, conforme a todo lo que su padre David había hecho.

3 I n the first month of the first year of his rule, he opened the doors of the Lord’s house and made them like new.

En el primer año de su reinado, en el mes primero, abrió las puertas de la casa del Señor y las reparó.

4 H e brought in the religious leaders and the Levites, and gathered them in the open space on the east side.

Hizo venir a los sacerdotes y a los Levitas y los reunió en la plaza oriental.

5 T hen he said to them, “Listen to me, O Levites. Now make yourselves holy. And make holy the house of the Lord, the God of your fathers. Carry what is unclean out from the holy place.

Entonces les dijo: “Oiganme, Levitas. Santifíquense ahora, y santifiquen la casa del Señor, Dios de sus padres, y saquen lo inmundo del lugar santo.

6 F or our fathers have not been faithful. They have done what is bad in the eyes of the Lord our God. They have left Him and turned their faces away from the house of the Lord. They have turned their backs.

Porque nuestros padres han sido infieles y han hecho lo malo ante los ojos del Señor nuestro Dios, Lo han abandonado, han apartado sus rostros de la morada del Señor y Le han vuelto las espaldas.

7 T hey have also shut the doors of the porch and put out the lamps. They have not burned special perfume or given burnt gifts in the holy place to the God of Israel.

También han cerrado las puertas del pórtico y han apagado las lámparas, y no han quemado incienso ni ofrecido holocaustos en el lugar santo al Dios de Israel.

8 S o the Lord was angry with Judah and Jerusalem. He has made them an object of fear and wonder and shame, as you see with your own eyes.

Por tanto, la ira del Señor vino contra Judá y Jerusalén, y El los hizo objeto de espanto, de horror y de burla, como ustedes lo ven con sus propios ojos.

9 S ee, our fathers have fallen by the sword. And our sons, our daughters and our wives have been taken away to a strange land because of this.

Por eso nuestros padres han caído a espada, y nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas y nuestras mujeres están en cautividad a causa de esto.

10 N ow it is in my heart to make an agreement with the Lord God of Israel, that His burning anger may turn away from us.

Ahora he decidido en mi corazón hacer un pacto con el Señor, Dios de Israel, para que el ardor de Su ira se aparte de nosotros.

11 M y sons, take care now. For the Lord has chosen you to stand before Him, to do His work and to burn special perfume.”

Hijos míos, no sean ahora negligentes, porque el Señor los ha escogido a fin de que estén delante de El, para servirle y para ser Sus ministros y quemar incienso.”

12 T hen the Levites set to work. There was Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, from the sons of the Kohathites. From the sons of Merari there was Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel. From the Gershonites there was Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah.

Entonces se levantaron los Levitas: Mahat, hijo de Amasai, y Joel, hijo de Azarías, de los hijos de los Coatitas; y de los hijos de Merari, Cis, hijo de Abdi, y Azarías, hijo de Jehalelel; y de los Gersonitas, Joa, hijo de Zima, y Edén, hijo de Joa;

13 T here were Shimri and Jeiel from the sons of Elizaphan. There were Zechariah and Mattaniah from the sons of Asaph.

de los hijos de Elizafán, Simri y Jeiel; y de los hijos de Asaf, Zacarías y Matanías;

14 F rom the sons of Heman there were Jehiel and Shimei. And from the sons of Jeduthun there were Shemaiah and Uzziel.

de los hijos de Hemán, Jehiel y Simei; y de los hijos de Jedutún, Semaías y Uziel.

15 T hey gathered their brothers and made themselves holy, and went in to make the Lord’s house clean, as the king had told them by the words of the Lord.

Estos Levitas reunieron a sus hermanos, se santificaron y entraron para limpiar la casa del Señor, conforme al mandamiento del rey según las palabras del Señor.

16 T he religious leaders went in to the inside part of the Lord’s house to make it clean. They brought out to the open space of the Lord’s house everything they found inside which was unclean. Then the Levites took it and carried it out to the river of Kidron.

Los sacerdotes entraron al interior de la casa del Señor para limpiar la, y sacaron al atrio de la casa del Señor todas las cosas inmundas que hallaron en el templo del Señor. Entonces los Levitas las recogieron para llevar las fuera al torrente Cedrón.

17 T hey began to make it holy on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of the Lord. Then they made the Lord’s house holy in eight days, and finished on the sixteenth day of the first month.

Comenzaron la santificación el primer día del mes primero, y el octavo día del mes entraron hasta el pórtico del Señor; entonces santificaron la casa del Señor en ocho días, y terminaron el día dieciséis del mes primero.

18 T hen they went in to King Hezekiah and said, “We have made clean the whole house of the Lord, the altar of burnt gifts with all of its objects, and the table of holy bread with all of its objects.

Después fueron al rey Ezequías, y le dijeron: “Hemos limpiado toda la casa del Señor, el altar del holocausto con todos sus utensilios, y la mesa del pan de la proposición con todos sus utensilios.

19 A nd we have made all the objects holy which King Ahaz had thrown away during his rule when he was not faithful. See, they are before the altar of the Lord.” Worship in the House of God Again

Además, todos los utensilios que el rey Acaz en su infidelidad había desechado durante su reino los hemos preparado y santificado, y ahora están delante del altar del Señor.”

20 T hen King Hezekiah got up early and gathered the city rulers and went up to the house of the Lord.

Entonces el rey Ezequías se levantó temprano, reunió a los príncipes de la ciudad y subió a la casa del Señor.

21 T hey brought seven bulls, seven rams, seven lambs, and seven male goats, for a sin gift for the nation, the holy place, and Judah. Hezekiah told the religious leaders, the sons of Aaron, to give them on the altar of the Lord.

Y trajeron siete novillos, siete carneros, siete corderos y siete machos cabríos como ofrenda por el pecado del reino, por el santuario y por Judá. El rey ordenó a los sacerdotes, los hijos de Aarón, que los ofrecieran sobre el altar del Señor.

22 S o they killed the bulls, and the religious leaders took the blood and put it on the altar. They killed the rams and put the blood on the altar. And they killed the lambs and put the blood on the altar.

Mataron los novillos, y los sacerdotes recogieron la sangre y la esparcieron sobre el altar. También mataron los carneros y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar; asimismo mataron los corderos y esparcieron la sangre sobre el altar.

23 T hen they brought the male goats of the sin gift in front of the king and the people. They laid their hands on them.

Después trajeron los machos cabríos de la ofrenda por el pecado del rey y de la asamblea, y pusieron sus manos sobre ellos.

24 A nd the religious leaders killed them and gave a sin gift with their blood, to pay for the sins of all Israel. For the king said that the burnt gift and the sin gift should be made for all Israel.

Los sacerdotes los mataron y purificaron el altar con su sangre como expiación por todo Israel, porque el rey había ordenado el holocausto y la ofrenda por el pecado por todo Israel.

25 T hen Hezekiah put the Levites in their places in the house of the Lord with timbrels and different kinds of harps. He did as David, Gad and Nathan, the men who spoke for God, had all said. For through these men the Lord said that this was to be done.

Luego Ezequías situó a los Levitas en la casa del Señor con címbalos, con arpas y con liras, conforme al mandamiento de David y de Gad, el vidente del rey, y del profeta Natán. Porque el mandamiento procedía del Señor por medio de Sus profetas.

26 T he Levites stood with the objects for making music which David had made. And the religious leaders stood with the horns.

Los Levitas se colocaron con los instrumentos musicales de David, y los sacerdotes con las trompetas.

27 T hen Hezekiah told them to give the burnt gift on the altar. When the burnt gift began, the song to the Lord also began, with the horns and the objects for music made by David, king of Israel.

Entonces Ezequías mandó ofrecer el holocausto sobre el altar. Cuando el holocausto comenzó, también comenzó el canto al Señor con las trompetas, acompañado por los instrumentos de David, rey de Israel.

28 W hile all the people worshiped, the singers sang and the horns sounded. The music went on until the burnt gift was finished.

Mientras toda la asamblea adoraba, también los cantores cantaban y las trompetas sonaban; todo esto continuó hasta que se consumió el holocausto.

29 W hen the burnt gift was finished, the king and all who were with him bowed down and worshiped.

Después de consumido el holocausto, el rey y todos los que estaban con él se inclinaron y adoraron.

30 K ing Hezekiah and the rulers told the Levites to sing praises to the Lord with the words of David and Asaph the man of God. So they sang praises with joy, and bowed down and worshiped.

El rey Ezequías y los oficiales ordenaron a los Levitas que cantaran alabanzas al Señor con las palabras de David y del vidente Asaf. Cantaron alabanzas con alegría, y se inclinaron y adoraron.

31 T hen Hezekiah said, “Now that you have made yourselves holy to the Lord, come near and bring gifts for the altar and gifts of thanks to the house of the Lord.” And the people brought gifts for the altar and gifts of thanks. All those who were willing brought burnt gifts.

Entonces Ezequías dijo: “Ahora que ustedes se han consagrado al Señor, acérquense y traigan sacrificios y ofrendas de gratitud a la casa del Señor.” Y la asamblea trajo sacrificios y ofrendas de gratitud, y todos los que quisieron trajeron holocaustos.

32 T he number of the burnt gifts which the people brought was 70 bulls, 100 rams, and 200 lambs. All these were for a burnt gift to the Lord.

El número de los holocaustos que la asamblea trajo fue de 70 bueyes, 100 carneros y 200 corderos; todos estos fueron para el holocausto al Señor.

33 A nd the holy gifts were 600 bulls and 3, 000 sheep.

Y las cosas consagradas fueron 600 bueyes y 3, 000 ovejas.

34 B ut there were not enough religious leaders to skin all the burnt gifts. So their brothers the Levites helped them until the work was finished, and until all the religious leaders had made themselves holy. For the Levites put more care into making themselves holy than the religious leaders.

Pero los sacerdotes eran pocos, y no pudieron desollar todos los holocaustos; por eso sus hermanos los Levitas los ayudaron hasta que se acabó la obra y hasta que los otros sacerdotes se hubieron santificado. Porque los Levitas fueron más cuidadosos para santificarse que los sacerdotes.

35 T here were also many burnt gifts with the fat of the peace gifts. And there were the drink gifts for the burnt gifts. So the worship was returned to the house of the Lord.

Hubo también holocaustos en abundancia con la grasa de las ofrendas de paz y con las libaciones para los holocaustos. Así quedó restablecido el servicio de la casa del Señor.

36 T hen Hezekiah and all the people were filled with joy because of what God had done for the people, for it was done all at once.

Entonces Ezequías se regocijó con todo el pueblo por lo que Dios había preparado para el pueblo, pues todo sucedió rápidamente.
