1 S olomon had finished building the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all that he wanted to build.

Y sucedió que cuando Salomón había acabado de edificar la casa del Señor, la casa del rey y todo lo que Salomón deseaba hacer,

2 T hen the Lord came to Solomon a second time, as He had come to him at Gibeon.

el Señor se apareció a Salomón por segunda vez, tal como se le había aparecido en Gabaón.

3 T he Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer which you have prayed to Me. I have set apart this house you have built by putting My name there forever. My eyes and My heart will be there always.

Y el Señor le dijo: “He oído tu oración y tu súplica que has hecho delante de Mí; he consagrado esta casa que has edificado, poniendo allí Mi nombre para siempre. En ella estarán Mis ojos y Mi corazón perpetuamente.

4 A s for you, walk before Me as your father David walked, with a true heart doing what is right. Do all that I have told you. Obey My Laws. If you do,

Y en cuanto a ti, si andas delante de Mí como anduvo tu padre David, en integridad de corazón y en rectitud, haciendo conforme a todo lo que te he mandado, y guardas Mis estatutos y Mis ordenanzas,

5 t hen I will make the throne of your rule over Israel last forever. It will be just as I promised your father David, saying, ‘You will never be without a man on the throne of Israel.’

Yo afirmaré el trono de tu reino sobre Israel para siempre, tal como prometí a tu padre David, diciendo: ‘No te faltará hombre sobre el trono de Israel.’

6 B ut if you or your sons turn away from following Me, and do not keep My Laws which I have given you, and go after other gods and worship them, if you do,

“ Pero si en verdad ustedes o sus hijos se apartan de Mí y no guardan Mis mandamientos y Mis estatutos que he puesto delante de ustedes, y se van y sirven a otros dioses y los adoran,

7 t hen I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them. And I will put away from My eyes the house which I have set apart for My name. Israel will become a word of shame among all peoples.

entonces cortaré a Israel de sobre la superficie de la tierra que les he dado; y la casa que he consagrado a Mi nombre la echaré de Mi presencia, e Israel se convertirá en refrán y escarnio entre todos los pueblos.

8 T his house will be broken to pieces. Everyone who passes by will be surprised and make a sound of wonder, and say, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land and to this house?’

Y esta casa se convertirá en un montón de ruinas. Todo el que pase quedará atónito y silbará, y dirá: ‘¿Por qué ha hecho así el Señor a esta tierra y a esta casa ?’

9 A nd they will say, ‘Because they turned away from the Lord their God, Who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt. They took in other gods and worshiped them and served them. So the Lord has brought all this trouble upon them.’” Solomon and Hiram

10 A t the end of twenty years, Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king’s house.

Y sucedió que después de los veinte años, en los cuales Salomón había edificado las dos casas, la casa del Señor y la casa del rey

11 H iram king of Tyre had given Solomon all the cedar and cypress trees and gold that he wanted. Then King Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

(Hiram, rey de Tiro, había proporcionado a Salomón maderas de cedro y de ciprés y oro conforme a todo su deseo) que el rey Salomón dio a Hiram veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea.

12 B ut when Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities Solomon had given him, they did not please him.

13 H e said, “What are these cities you have given me, my brother?” So they are called the land of Cabul to this day.

Y dijo: “¿Qué son estas ciudades que me has dado, hermano mío?” Por eso fueron llamadas tierra de Cabul (Inútil) hasta hoy.

14 T he gold Hiram sent to the king weighed as much as 120 men. Other Things Solomon Did

Hiram había enviado al rey 4. 1 toneladas de oro.

15 N ow King Solomon made men work to build the house of the Lord, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Meggido and Gezer.

Y estos son los datos de la leva (trabajo forzado) que el rey Salomón impuso para edificar la casa del Señor, su propia casa, el Milo (la fortaleza), el muro de Jerusalén, y las ciudades de Hazor, Meguido y Gezer.

16 F or Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer and burned it with fire. He killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and then gave it as a wedding-gift to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

Porque Faraón, rey de Egipto, había subido y capturado Gezer, le había prendido fuego, había matado a los Cananeos que habitaban en la ciudad, y la había dado en dote (regalo de bodas) a su hija, la mujer de Salomón.

17 S o Solomon built Gezer again, and the lower part of Beth-horon,

18 a nd Baalath and Tamar in the desert, in the land of Judah.

19 S olomon built all the store-cities that he had, the cities for his war-wagons, the cities for his horsemen, and all he wanted to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land under his rule.

20 N ow there were people left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel.

A todo el pueblo que había quedado de los Amorreos, Hititas, Ferezeos, Heveos y Jebuseos, que no eran de los Israelitas,

21 A nd their children were left after them in the land. The people of Israel were not able to destroy all of them. So Solomon made these people work for him, even to this day.

es decir, a sus descendientes que habían quedado en la tierra después de ellos, a quienes los Israelitas no habían podido destruir completamente, Salomón les impuso leva de trabajo forzado hasta el día de hoy.

22 B ut Solomon did not make the people of Israel work for him. For they were men of war, his servants, his rulers, his captains, his war-wagon drivers, and his horsemen.

23 T hese were the heads of the captains over Solomon’s work. There were 550 of them who ruled over the people doing the work.

24 B ut Pharaoh’s daughter went up from the city of David to her own house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built the Millo.

25 T hree times a year Solomon gave burnt gifts and peace gifts on the altar he built to the Lord. He burned special perfume on the altar before the Lord. So he finished the house.

26 K ing Solomon built a group of ships in Ezion-geber, near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

27 H iram sent his servants with the ships, sailors who knew the sea. He sent them with the servants of Solomon.

28 T hey went to Ophir and brought out gold weighing as much as 420 small men. And they brought it to King Solomon.
