1 S olomon had finished building the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all that he wanted to build.

وَبَعْدَ أنْ أكمَلَ سُلَيْمانُ بِناءَ بَيتِ اللهِ وَقَصْرِهِ المَلَكِيِّ. وَعَمِلَ فِيهِما كُلَّ ما شاءَ،

2 T hen the Lord came to Solomon a second time, as He had come to him at Gibeon.

ظَهَرَ اللهُ لِسُلَيْمانَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى كَما سَبَقَ أنْ ظَهَرَ لَهُ فِي جِبْعُونَ.

3 T he Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer which you have prayed to Me. I have set apart this house you have built by putting My name there forever. My eyes and My heart will be there always.

وَقالَ لَهُ اللهُ: «سَمِعْتُ صَلاتَكَ وَطِلْباتِكَ. أنتَ بَنَيتَ لِي هَذا الهَيكَلَ، وَأنا قَدَّسْتُهُ لأجلِ اسْمِي وَلِكَي أُكَرَّمَ فِيهِ إلَى الأبَدِ. سَأحرُسُهُ وَأضَعُهُ فِي قَلْبِي عَلَى الدَّوامِ.

4 A s for you, walk before Me as your father David walked, with a true heart doing what is right. Do all that I have told you. Obey My Laws. If you do,

وَأنْتَ يا سُلَيْمانُ، عَلَيكَ أنْ تَخدِمَنِي كَداوُدَ أبِيكَ بِقَلبٍ مُخلِصٍ مُستَقِيمٍ، وَتُطِيعَ ما أوصَيتُكَ بِهِ، وَتَحفَظَ شَرائِعِي وَأحكامِي.

5 t hen I will make the throne of your rule over Israel last forever. It will be just as I promised your father David, saying, ‘You will never be without a man on the throne of Israel.’

فَإنْ فَعَلْتَ، فَإنَّ مَلِكَ إسْرائِيلَ سَيَكُونَ مِنْ نَسلِكَ دائِماً كَما وَعَدُّتُ أباكَ داوُدَ وَقُلْتُ لَهُ، سَيَكُونُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ نَسلِهِ دائِماً مَلِكاً عَلَى إسْرائِيلَ.»

6 B ut if you or your sons turn away from following Me, and do not keep My Laws which I have given you, and go after other gods and worship them, if you do,

«لَكِنْ إذا تَمَرَّدْتُمْ عَلَيَّ أنتُمْ وَأبناؤُكُمْ، وَلَمْ تَعُودُوا تَحفَظُونَ شَرائِعِي وَوَصايايَ الَّتِي أوصِيكُمْ بِها، وَإذا خَدَمْتُمْ وَعَبَدْتُمْ آلِهَةً أُخْرَى،

7 t hen I will cut off Israel from the land I have given them. And I will put away from My eyes the house which I have set apart for My name. Israel will become a word of shame among all peoples.

فَإنِّي سَأنفِي بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ مِنَ الأرْضِ الَّتِي أعطَيتُها لَهُمْ. سَأجعَلُ إسْرائِيلَ عِبْرَةً لِكُلِّ الشُّعُوبِ، وَسَتَصِيرُ أُضحُوكَةً لِلآخَرِينَ. أمّا الهَيكَلُ الَّذِي قَدَّسْتُهُ لِكَي أُكَرَّمَ فِيهِ، فَسَأهْدِمُهُ،

8 T his house will be broken to pieces. Everyone who passes by will be surprised and make a sound of wonder, and say, ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land and to this house?’

فَيَصِيرُ هَذا البَيتُ أيضاً عِبْرَةً لِكُلِّ الشُّعُوبِ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَراهُ سَيَصْفُرُ دَهشَةً وَيَقُولُ: ‹لِماذا فَعَلَ اللهُ هَذا الأمرَ الفَظِيعَ بِهَذِهِ الأرْضِ وَبِهَذا الشَّعبِ؟›

9 A nd they will say, ‘Because they turned away from the Lord their God, Who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt. They took in other gods and worshiped them and served them. So the Lord has brought all this trouble upon them.’” Solomon and Hiram

فَيُقالُ: ‹لِأنَّهُمْ تَرَكُوا إلَهَهُمْ. أخرَجَ آباءَهُمْ مِنْ مِصْرَ، لَكِنَّهُمْ تَنَكَّرُوا لَهُ وَتَبِعُوا آلِهَةً أُخْرَى. فَعَبَدُوها وَخَدَمُوها. وَلِهَذا جَلَبَ اللهُ عَلَيهِمْ كُلَّ هَذا.›»

10 A t the end of twenty years, Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the Lord and the king’s house.

استَغرَقَ بِناءُ سُلَيْمانَ لِبَيتِ اللهِ وَبَيتِه الخاصِّ بهِ عشرِينَ سَنَةً.

11 H iram king of Tyre had given Solomon all the cedar and cypress trees and gold that he wanted. Then King Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

وَبَعْدَ تِلْكَ السَّنَواتِ العِشْرِينَ أعطَى سُلَيْمانُ لِحِيرامَ مَلِكِ صُورَ عِشْرِينَ بَلْدَةً فِي الجَلِيلِ، لأنَّهُ ساعَدَهُ فِي بِناءِ الهَيكَلِ وَالقَصْرِ. فَقَدْ زَوَّدَ حِيرامُ سُلَيْمانَ بِكُلِّ الأرْزِ وَالنَّخِيلِ وَالذَّهَبِ الَّلازِمِ لِذَلِكَ.

12 B ut when Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities Solomon had given him, they did not please him.

فَذَهَبَ حِيرامُ مِنْ صُورَ إلَى البَلْداتِ الَّتِي أعطاها سُلَيْمانُ لَهُ، فَلَمّا رَآها، لَمْ تُعجِبْهُ.

13 H e said, “What are these cities you have given me, my brother?” So they are called the land of Cabul to this day.

فَقالَ: «ما هَذِهِ البَلداتُ الَّتِي أعطَيتَنِي إيّاها، يا أخِي؟» فَسَمَّى المَلِكُ حِيرامُ تِلْكَ الأرْضَ كابُولَ حَتَّى هَذا اليَومِ.

14 T he gold Hiram sent to the king weighed as much as 120 men. Other Things Solomon Did

وَكانَ حِيرامُ قَدْ أرسَلَ لِلمَلِكِ سُلَيْمانَ مِئَةً وَعِشْرِينَ قِنْطاراً مِنَ الذَّهَبِ.

15 N ow King Solomon made men work to build the house of the Lord, his own house, the Millo, the wall of Jerusalem, Hazor, Meggido and Gezer.

وَكانَ سُلَيْمانُ قَدْ جَنَّدَ العُمّالَ لِبِناءِ بَيتِ اللهِ وَقَصْرِهِ. ثُمَّ اسْتَخدَمَ المَلِكُ هَؤُلاءِ العُمّالَ لِبِناءِ مِلُّو وَالسُّورِ المُحِيطِ بِمَدِينَةِ القُدْسِ، وَفِي إعادَةِ بِناءِ مُدُنِ حاصُورَ وَمَجِدُّو وَجازَرَ.

16 F or Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and taken Gezer and burned it with fire. He killed the Canaanites who lived in the city, and then gave it as a wedding-gift to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

وَفِي ماضِي الزَّمانِ هاجَمَ فِرعَوْنُ مِصْرَ مَدِينَةَ جازَرَ وَأحرَقَها، وَقَتَلَ أهلَها الكَنعانِيِّينَ. وَعِندَما تَزَوَّجَ سُلَيْمانُ مِنَ ابْنَةِ فِرعَوْنَ، أعطَى تِلْكَ المَدِينَةَ هَدِيَّةَ زَواجٍ لِسُلَيْمانَ.

17 S o Solomon built Gezer again, and the lower part of Beth-horon,

فَأعادَ سُلَيْمانُ بِناءَ جازَرَ. وَبَنَى أيضاً بَيتَ حُورُونَ السُّفلِيَّ.

18 a nd Baalath and Tamar in the desert, in the land of Judah.

ثُمَّ بَنَى سُلَيْمانُ مَدِينَتَي بَعلَةَ وَثامارَ فِي بَرِّيَةِ اليَهُودِيَّةِ.

19 S olomon built all the store-cities that he had, the cities for his war-wagons, the cities for his horsemen, and all he wanted to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land under his rule.

كَما بَنَى مُدُناً حَيثُما أمكَنَهُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أجلِ خَزْنِ الحُبُوبِ وَغَيرِها. وَبَنَى أماكِنَ مُخَصَّصَةً لِمَرْكَباتِهِ وَأُخرَى لِخَيلِهِ. وَبَنَى سُلَيْمانُ كُلَّ ما رَغِبَ فِي بِنائِهِ فِي القُدْسِ وَفِي لُبْنانَ وَفِي كُلِّ الأراضِي الخاضِعَةِ لِحُكْمِهِ.

20 N ow there were people left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel.

وَكانَ فِي الأرْضِ كَثِيرُونَ مِنْ غَيرِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ، مِمَّنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِيعُوا القَضاءَ عَلَيْهِمْ. فَكانَ هُناكَ أمُّورِيُّونَ، وَحِثِّيُّونَ، وَفِرِزِّيُّونَ، وَحَوِيُّونَ، وَيَبُوسِيُّونَ.

21 A nd their children were left after them in the land. The people of Israel were not able to destroy all of them. So Solomon made these people work for him, even to this day.

لَمْ يَكُنْ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ قَدْ قَدِرُوا عَلَى القَضاءِ عَلَى هَؤُلاءِ. لَكِنَّ سُلَيْمانَ أجْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى أنْ يَكُونوا عَبِيداً لَدَيهِ. وَما زالُوا عَبِيداً إلَى هَذا اليَومِ.

22 B ut Solomon did not make the people of Israel work for him. For they were men of war, his servants, his rulers, his captains, his war-wagon drivers, and his horsemen.

وَلَمْ يُجْبِرْ سُلَيْمانُ أيّاً مِنْ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ عَلَى أنْ يَكُونوا عَبِيداً لَدَيهِ. بَلْ كانُوا جُنُوداً، وَمَسْؤُولِينَ إدارِيِّينَ، وَضُبّاطاً، وَمَسْؤُولِينَ كِباراً، وَقادَةَ مَركَباتِهِ، وفرساناً.

23 T hese were the heads of the captains over Solomon’s work. There were 550 of them who ruled over the people doing the work.

وَأشْرَفَ عَلَى مَشارِيعِ سُلَيْمانَ خَمْسُ مِئَةٍ وَخَمْسُونَ رَجُلاً. فَكانُوا يُوَجِّهُونَ العُمّالَ فِي عَمَلِهِمْ.

24 B ut Pharaoh’s daughter went up from the city of David to her own house which Solomon had built for her. Then he built the Millo.

وَانتَقَلَتِ ابْنَةُ فِرعَوْنَ مِنْ مَدِينَةِ داوُدَ إلَى البَيتِ الكَبِيرِ الَّذِي بَناهُ سُلَيْمانُ لَها، ثُمَّ بَنَى مِلُّو.

25 T hree times a year Solomon gave burnt gifts and peace gifts on the altar he built to the Lord. He burned special perfume on the altar before the Lord. So he finished the house.

وَاعتادَ سُلَيْمانُ أنْ يُقَدِّمَ ذَبائِحَ صاعِدَةً وَذَبائِحَ سَلامٍ عَلَى المَذبَحِ الَّذِي بَناهُ للهِ ثَلاثَ مَرّاتٍ فِي السَّنَةِ. وَكانَ يَحرِقُ بَخُوراً للهِ ، وَيُزَوِّدُ الهَيكَلَ بِكُلِّ ما يَحتاجُهُ.

26 K ing Solomon built a group of ships in Ezion-geber, near Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

وَصَنَعَ سُلَيْمانُ أيَضاً سُفُناً فِي عِصْيُونِ جابِرَ، وَهِيَ بَلْدَةٌ قُرْبَ أيلَةَ عَلَى شاطِئِ البَحرِ الأحمَرِ في أرْضِ أدومَ.

27 H iram sent his servants with the ships, sailors who knew the sea. He sent them with the servants of Solomon.

فَأرسَلَ المَلِكُ حِيرامُ بَعضاً مِنْ رِجالِهِ الخَبِيرِينَ بِالمِلاحَةِ وَبِالسُّفُنِ لِمُساعَدَةِ رِجالِ سُلَيْمانَ فِي العملِ.

28 T hey went to Ophir and brought out gold weighing as much as 420 small men. And they brought it to King Solomon.

وَأبحَرَتْ سُفُنُ سُلَيْمانَ إلَى مَدينَةِ أُوفِيرَ، وَجَلَبَتْ أربَعَ مِئَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ قِنْطاراً مِنَ الذَّهَبِ مِنْ هُناكَ إلَى المَلِكِ سُلَيْمانَ.
