1 P raise the Lord! O give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His loving-kindness lasts forever.

سَبِّحُوا اللهَ. سَبِّحُوا اللهَ لِأنَّهُ صالِحٌ، لأنَّ رَحمَتَهُ إلَى الأبَدِ.

2 W ho can put into words the great works of the Lord? Who can make known all His praise?

مَنْ يَقدِرُ أنْ يَصِفَ أعمالَ اللهِ الجَبّارَةَ، لِكَي يُسَبِّحَهُ بِما يَكفِي؟

3 H appy are those who are faithful in being fair and who always do what is right and good!

هَنِيئاً لِمَنْ يَحفَظُونَ العَدلَ، وَعَلَى الدَّوامِ يَعمَلُونَ أعمالاً صالِحَةً وَمُستَقِيمَةً.

4 O Lord, remember me when You show favor to Your people. Visit me also when You save them.

اذكُرْنِي يا اللهُ عِندَما تُرِي شَعبَكَ لُطفَكَ. أعِنِّي أنا أيضاً حِينَ تُخَلِّصُهُمْ.

5 S o I may share in the well-being of Your chosen ones. So I may share in the joy of Your nation, and be proud of Your people.

فَأُشارِكَ فِي بَرَكاتِ مُختارِيكَ، وَأفرَحَ مَعَ شَعبِكَ، وَأُسَبِّحُ مَعَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ لَكَ.

6 W e have sinned like our fathers. We have done wrong. We have been sinful in our actions.

كَآبائِنا نَحنُ أخطَأنا. أشراراً كُنّا. مُذنِبُونَ نَحنُ!

7 O ur fathers in Egypt did not understand Your powerful works. They did not remember how many times You showed Your loving-kindness. But they turned against You by the sea, the Red Sea.

لَمْ يَتَعَلَّمْ آباؤُنا فِي مِصرَ مِنَ المُعجِزاتِ. لَمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوا مَحَبَّتَكَ وَإحْسانَكَ العَظِيمَيْنِ. هُناكَ عِندَ البَحرِ الأحمَرِ، تَمَرَّدُوا عَلَيكَ.

8 Y et He saved them because of the honor of His name, and to make His great power known.

لَكِنَّهُ خَلَّصَهُمْ مِنْ أجلِ اسْمِهِ، لِكَي يُظهِرَ عَظَمَتَهُ،

9 S o He spoke sharp words to the Red Sea and it dried up. And He led them through the sea as through a desert.

انتَهَرَ البَحرَ الأحمَرَ فَجَفَّ، فَقادَهُمْ عَبرَ البَحرِ كَأنَّهُ قادَهُمْ عَبرَ الصَّحراءِ.

10 H e saved them from the hand of those who hated them. He set them free from the hand of those who went against them.

خَلَّصَهُمْ مِنْ مُبغِضِيهِمْ، وَفَداهُمْ مِنْ عَدُوِّهِمْ.

11 A nd the waters covered those who hated them. Not one of them was left.

ثُمَّ غَمَرَ فِي الماءِ أعْداءَهُمْ. فَلَمْ يَنجُ مِنهُمْ أحَدٌ.

12 T hen they believed His promises. They sang His praise.

بِكَلامِهِ آمَنُوا، وَرَنَّمُوا تَسابِيحَهُ.

13 B ut they soon forgot His works. They did not wait to hear what He wanted them to do.

لَكِنَّهُمْ سَرْعانَ ما نَسَوْا ما صَنَعَهُ، وَرَفَضُوا أنْ يَنتَظِرُوا مَشُورَتَهُ وَرَأْيَهُ.

14 T hey wanted many things in the desert, and they tempted God there.

وَفِي الصَّحراءِ استَسلَمُوا لِشَهَواتِهِمْ، وَامتَحَنُوا اللهَ فِي البَرِّيَّةِ.

15 S o He gave them what they wanted, but He allowed their souls to become weak because of it.

فَأعطاهُمْ ما طَلَبُوهُ، وَأرسَلَ إلَيْهِمْ مَرَضاً مُمِيتاً.

16 T hey were jealous of Moses in the place where they set up their tents. And they were jealous of Aaron, the holy one of the Lord.

فَغارَ الشَّعبُ مِنْ مُوسَى، وَغارُوا مِنْ هارُونَ، الكاهِنِ المُقَدَّسِ للهِ.

17 S o the earth opened up and swallowed Dathan. It closed over the group of Abiram.

فَانشَقَّتِ الأرْضُ وَالتَهَمَتْ جَماعَةَ داثانَ وَأبِيرامَ، وَدَفَنَتْ كُلَّ تِلْكَ الجَماعَةِ المُتَمَرِّدَةِ.

18 A nd a fire came among their followers. It burned up the sinful people.

شَبَّتْ نارٌ فِيهِمْ، وَالتَهَمَتْ أُولَئِكَ الأشرارَ.

19 T hey made a calf at Horeb and worshiped a god of gold.

صَنَعُوا العِجلَ الذَّهَبِيَّ عِنْدَ جَبَلِ حُورِيبَ، وَسَجَدُوا لِذَلِكَ التِّمثالِ.

20 T hey traded their shining-greatness for something that looked like a bull that eats grass.

استَبدَلُوا مَجدَ اللهِ بِتِمثالٍ مَسبُوكٍ لِثَورٍ آكِلٍ لِلعُشبِ.

21 T hey forgot the God Who saved them, Who had done great things in Egypt,

نَسَوْا اللهَ الَّذِي خَلَّصَهُمْ، وَصَنَعَ مُعجِزاتٍ عَظِيمَةً فِي مِصرَ،

22 p owerful works in the land of Ham, and works that brought fear by the Red Sea.

صَنَعَ عَجائِبَ فِي أرْضِ حامَ، وَمُعجِزاتٍ مُهِيبَةً عِندَ البَحرِ الأحمَرِ!

23 S o He said that He would destroy them. But Moses, His chosen one, stood in the way to keep His anger from destroying them.

كانَ سَيُهلِكُهُمْ لَولا أنَّ مُوسَى الَّذِي اختارَهُ تَدَخَّلَ وَهَدَّأ غَضَبَ اللهِ، فَحالَ دُونَ هَلاكِهِمْ.

24 T hen they hated the good land. They did not believe in His Word.

ثُمَّ رَفَضُوا الأرْضَ الطَّيِّبَةَ. لَمْ يُؤمِنُوا بِوَعدِهِ.

25 B ut they complained in their tents. They did not listen to the voice of the Lord.

جَلَسُوا فِي خِيامِهِمْ يَتَذَمَّرُونَ عَلَى اللهِ ، وَلَمْ يُطِيعُوا وَصايا اللهِ.

26 S o He swore to them that He would let them die in the desert.

فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ وَأقسَمَ أنْ يَرمِيَهُمْ فِي الصَّحراءِ بَعِيداً،

27 A nd He would spread out their children among the nations and divide them over all the earth.

وَأنْ يُهزَمَ أحفادُهُمْ أمامَ الأُمَمِ الأُخرَى، فَيَتَشَتَّتُوا عَلَى وَجهِ الأرْضِ.

28 T hey joined themselves to Baal of Peor and ate gifts given to the dead.

ثُمَّ تَعَلَّقُوا بِبَعلِ فَغُورَ، وَأكَلُوا مِنَ الذَّبائِحَ المُقَدَّمَةِ لِلمَوتَى.

29 T hey made the Lord angry by their actions and a sickness broke out among them.

أثارُوا غَضَبَ اللهِ بِأعمالِهِمْ، فَانتَشَرَ وَباءٌ بَينَهُمْ.

30 T hen Phinehas stood up and came between them, and the sickness was stopped.

ثُمَّ تَدَخَّلَ فِينَحاسُ، فَتَوَقَّفَ الوَباءُ.

31 A nd this made him right with God to all people forever.

وَحُسِبَ لَهُ هَذا عَمَلاً بارّاً، وَحُفِظَتْ ذِكراهُ جِيلاً بَعدَ جِيلٍ!

32 T hey also made the Lord angry at the waters of Meribah. And trouble came to Moses because of them.

أغضَبُوا اللهَ عِندَ ماءِ مَرِيبَةَ، وَاضطَرَبَ مُوسَى بِسَبَبِهِمْ.

33 H e spoke from his lips without thinking because they went against the Spirit of God.

أمَرُّوا رُوحَهُ، فَتَكَلَّمَ بِطَيشٍ.

34 T hey did not destroy the people as the Lord told them to do.

ثُمَّ لَمْ يُهلِكُوا الأُمَمَ الأُخرَى كَما أمَرَهُمُ اللهُ.

35 B ut they mixed with the nations and learned their ways.

بَلِ اخْتَلَطُوا بِهِمْ، وَتَعَلَّمُوا عاداتِهِمْ.

36 T hey served their gods, which became a trap to them.

بَدَأُوا يَخدِمُونَ أصنامَهُمْ، فَصارَ هَذا لَهُمْ فَخّاً.

37 T hey even gave their sons and daughters as gifts on an altar to the demons.

ضَحُّوا حَتَّى بِأبنائِهِمْ، وَقَدَّمُوهُمْ لِشَياطِينَ!

38 T hey poured out the blood of those who were not guilty, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they gave on an altar to the gods of Canaan. And the land was poisoned with blood.

سَفَكُوا دَماً بَرِيئاً، دَمَ أبنائِهِمْ وَبَناتِهِمِ الَّذِينَ ضَحُّوا بِهِمْ لأصْنامِ كَنعانَ. فَتَلَوَّثَتْ بِالدَّمِ أرْضُهُمْ.

39 T hey made themselves unclean by what they did. They were not true to God in what they did.

وَتَنَجَّسُوا هُمْ أيضاً بِأعمالِهِمِ الخائِنَةِ وَالنَّجِسَةِ.

40 S o the Lord was angry with His people. He hated His people.

فَغَضِبَ اللهُ عَلَى شَعبِهِ، وَبَدَأ يَشمَئِزُّ مِنَ الَّذِينَ كانُوا لَهُ.

41 S o He handed them over to the nations. And those who hated them ruled over them.

فَأسلَمَهُمْ لِلأُمَمِ الأُخرَى، وَصارَ كارِهُوهُمْ يَحكُمُونَهُمْ.

42 T hose who hated them held a strong power over them. And they were made to obey them.

وَضايَقَهُمْ أعْداؤُهُم، وَأخْضَعُوهُمْ بِقُوَّتِهِمْ.

43 G od set them free many times. But they always turned against Him and went deeper into sin.

كَثِيراً ما كانَ اللهُ يُنقِذُهُمْ، لَكِنَّهُمْ تَمَرَّدُوا وَفَعَلُوا ما أرادُوهُ، وَانحَدَرُوا أكثَرَ فَأكثَرَ فِي ذُنُوبِهِمْ.

44 B ut He looked upon their trouble when He heard their cry.

وَكُلَّما كانُوا فِي ضِيقٍ، وَصَلُّوا إلَيهِ، كانَ يَسمَعُهُمْ وَيَرْفَعُ أعباءَهُمْ.

45 H e remembered His agreement because of them, and took pity on them by the greatness of His loving-kindness.

يَتَذَكَّرُ عَهدَهُ مَعَهُمْ، وَيُعَزِّيهِمْ بِمَحَبَّتِه وَإحْسانِهِ العَظِيمَيْنِ.

46 T hose who held them also saw how God took pity on them.

بَلْ جَعَلَ قُلُوبَ آسِرِيهِمْ تَرِقُّ لَهُمْ.

47 O Lord our God, save us! Gather us from among the nations. And we will give thanks to Your holy name and find honor in Your praise.

فَالآنَ يا إلَهَنا أنقِذْنا، وَاجمَعنا مِنْ بَينِ الأُمَمِ، لِكَي نُقَدِّمَ الشُّكرَ لاسمِكَ القُدُّوسِ، وَبِتَرانِيمِ التَّسبِيحِ نُكرِمُكَ.

48 H onor and thanks be to the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever. Let all the people say, “Let it be so!” Praise the Lord!

مُبارَكٌ اللهُ إلَهُ إسرائِيلَ مِنَ الأزَلِ إلَى الأبَدِ. وَقالَ الشَّعبُ كُلُّهُ: «آمِينَ!» سَبِّحُوا اللهَ.
