1 I t took Solomon twenty years to build the house of the Lord and his own house. At the end of that time,

2 h e built again the cities which Huram had given to him. And he had the people of Israel live in them.

reedificó las ciudades que Hiram le había dado, y estableció allí a los Israelitas.

3 T hen Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and took it.

Después Salomón fue a Hamat de Soba y la tomó.

4 H e built Tadmor in the desert and all his store-cities in Hamath.

Y reedificó Tadmor en el desierto y todas las ciudades de almacenaje que había edificado en Hamat.

5 H e built upper Beth-horon and lower Beth-horon. He made the city strong with walls, gates, and long pieces of iron.

También reedificó Bet Horón de arriba y Bet Horón de abajo, ciudades fortificadas, con muros, puertas y barras;

6 S olomon built Baalath and all the store-cities he had. He built all the cities for his war-wagons, and the cities for his horsemen. He built whatever he wanted to build in Jerusalem, Lebanon, and in all the land under his rule.

y Baalat y todas las ciudades de almacenaje que Salomón tenía, y todas las ciudades para sus carros, y las ciudades para sus hombres de a caballo, y todo lo que Salomón quiso edificar en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en toda la tierra de su dominio.

7 T here were people who were left of the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel.

A todo el pueblo que había quedado de los Hititas, Amorreos, Ferezeos, Heveos y de los Jebuseos, que no eran de Israel,

8 T hey were the children of those who were left in the land, whom the people of Israel had not destroyed. Solomon made all of these people do hard work, as they do to this day.

es decir, a sus descendientes que habían quedado en la tierra después de ellos, a quienes los Israelitas no habían destruido, Salomón les impuso leva de servidumbre hasta el día de hoy.

9 B ut he did not make the people of Israel do hard work. They were soldiers, leaders, captains of war-wagons, and his horsemen.

Pero de los Israelitas Salomón no hizo esclavos para su obra, sino que ellos eran los hombres de guerra, sus capitanes escogidos, los comandantes de sus carros y sus hombres de a caballo.

10 T hese were the head leaders of King Solomon. There were 250 who ruled over the people.

Estos eran los principales oficiales del rey Salomón: 250 que gobernaban sobre el pueblo.

11 T hen Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the city of David to the house he had built for her. For he said, “My wife should not live in the house of David king of Israel. Because the places are holy where the special box of the Lord has come.”

Y Salomón hizo subir a la hija de Faraón de la ciudad de David a la casa que él le había edificado; pues dijo: “Mi mujer no habitará en la casa de David, rey de Israel, porque los lugares donde el arca del Señor ha entrado son sagrados.”

12 T hen Solomon gave burnt gifts to the Lord on the Lord’s altar which he had built in front of the porch.

Entonces Salomón ofreció holocaustos al Señor sobre el altar del Señor que había edificado delante del pórtico;

13 H e gave a certain number of gifts every day, as Moses had said should be given. Gifts were given for the Days of Rest, the new moons, and the three special suppers each year. These special suppers were the Special Supper of Bread Without Yeast, the Special Supper of Weeks, and the Special Supper of Tents.

y lo hizo conforme a lo prescrito para cada día, ofreciéndolos conforme al mandamiento de Moisés, para los días de reposo, las lunas nuevas y las tres fiestas anuales: la Fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura, la Fiesta de las Semanas y la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos.

14 B y the law of David his father, Solomon chose the religious leaders for their different duties. He chose the Levites for their duties of praise and helping the religious leaders for each day’s needs. And he chose who should be the gate-keepers at each gate. For David the man of God had said that this must be done.

Y conforme a las ordenanzas de su padre David, designó las clases sacerdotales en sus servicios, a los Levitas en sus deberes de alabar y ministrar delante de los sacerdotes según lo prescrito para cada día y a los porteros por sus clases para cada puerta; porque así lo había ordenado David, hombre de Dios.

15 T hey did all that the king had said the religious leaders and Levites must do in every duty and with the store-houses.

Y no se apartaron del mandamiento del rey tocante a los sacerdotes y a los Levitas en cosa alguna, ni tocante a los almacenes.

16 S o all the work of Solomon was done, from the day the house of the Lord was begun until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was built.

Así fue llevada a cabo toda la obra de Salomón desde el día en que se echaron los cimientos de la casa del Señor hasta que fue terminada. Así fue acabada la casa del Señor.

17 T hen Solomon went to Ezion-geber and Eloth on the shore of the sea, in the land of Edom.

Entonces Salomón fue a Ezión Geber y a Elot junto a la costa en la tierra de Edom.

18 H uram sent his servants to him with ships and servants who knew the sea. They went to Ophir together with Solomon’s servants to get gold. And they brought gold weighing as much as 450 men from there to King Solomon.

Y por medio de sus siervos, Hiram le envió naves y marinos conocedores del mar; y éstos fueron con los siervos de Salomón a Ofir, y de allí tomaron 15. 3 toneladas de oro, que llevaron al rey Salomón.
