1 T hen King Darius had men look through the books which were kept in Babylon.

3 “ In the first year of King Cyrus, Cyrus the king said that this was to be done about the house of God at Jerusalem: ‘Let the house of God, the place where burnt gifts are given in worship, be built again with a good base. It should be sixteen times taller than a man, and as wide as thirty long steps.

“En el año primero del rey Ciro, el rey Ciro proclamó un decreto: ‘ En cuanto a la casa de Dios en Jerusalén, que sea reedificado el templo, el lugar donde se ofrecen los sacrificios, y que se conserven sus cimientos, con su altura de 24 metros (60 codos) y su anchura de 24 metros;

con tres hileras de piedras enormes y una hilera de madera; y que los gastos se paguen del tesoro real.

Y que también se devuelvan los utensilios de oro y de plata de la casa de Dios, los cuales Nabucodonosor sacó del templo en Jerusalén y trajo a Babilonia, y que se lleven a sus lugares en el templo en Jerusalén y sean colocados en la casa de Dios.’

6 “ So now, Tattenai, leader over the land on the other side of the River, Shethar-bozenai, and your friends who are leaders in the lands on the other side of the River, stay away from there.

Ahora pues, Tatnai, gobernador de la provincia al otro lado del Río (Eufrates), Setar Boznai, y sus compañeros, los oficiales del otro lado del río, aléjense de allí.

7 L eave this work on the house of God alone. Let the leaders of the Jews build this house of God again where it stood before.

No impidan esta obra de la casa de Dios, y que el gobernador de los Judíos y los ancianos de los Judíos reedifiquen esta casa de Dios en su lugar.

8 A lso, I am making it known what you are to do for these leaders of Judah for the building of this house of God. All of it is to be paid for from the king’s money out of the taxes from the lands on the other side of the River. And waste no time to get it to them.

Además, éste es mi decreto en cuanto a lo que han de hacer por estos ancianos de Judá en la reedificación de esta casa de Dios: del tesoro real de los tributos del otro lado del río se han de pagar todos los gastos a este pueblo, y esto sin demora.

9 B e sure to give them each day whatever is needed, young bulls, rams and lambs for a burnt gift to the God of heaven, and grain, salt, wine, and oil for pouring.

Y todo lo que se necesite: novillos, carneros y corderos para holocausto al Dios del cielo, y trigo, sal, vino y aceite de unción, según lo pidan los sacerdotes que están en Jerusalén, se les dará día por día sin falta,

10 T his is so they may give pleasing gifts in worship to the God of heaven and pray for the life of the king and his sons.

para que puedan ofrecer sacrificios agradables al Dios del cielo y orar por la vida del rey y de sus hijos.

11 I here make it known that if anyone does not do what I say, a piece of wood will be taken from his house and he will be nailed on it. And his house will become a place to gather waste.

He proclamado un decreto de que cualquiera que quebrante este edicto, se arranque un madero de su casa, y levantándolo, sea colgado en él, y que su casa sea reducida a escombros a causa de esto.

12 M ay the God Who has caused His name to be there take away the power of any king or people who will try to change what I have said, so as to destroy this house of God in Jerusalem. I, Darius, have told this to you. Let it be done with much care.” The House of God Is Set Apart for Use

Y que el Dios que ha hecho morar allí Su nombre derribe a todo rey o pueblo que trate de cambiar lo para destruir esta casa de Dios en Jerusalén. Yo, Darío, he proclamado este decreto; que sea ejecutado con toda exactitud.”

13 T hen Tattenai, the leader over the land on the other side of the River, and Shethar-bozenai and their friends obeyed the words of the king with much care, just as King Darius had told them.

Entonces Tatnai, gobernador de la provincia al otro lado del Río (Eufrates), Setar Boznai y sus compañeros llevaron a cabo el decreto con toda exactitud, tal como el rey Darío había ordenado.

14 T he leaders of the Jews did well in building, through the words spoken by Haggai the man who spoke for God and Zechariah the son of Iddo. They finished building as they had been told to do by the God of Israel, and by Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

Y los ancianos de los Judíos tuvieron éxito en la edificación según la profecía del profeta Hageo y de Zacarías, hijo de Iddo. Y terminaron de edificar conforme al mandato del Dios de Israel y al decreto de Ciro, de Darío y de Artajerjes, rey de Persia.

15 T he house of God was finished on the third day of the month of Adar, in the sixth year of the rule of King Darius.

Y este templo fue terminado el tercer día del mes de Adar; era el año sexto del reinado del rey Darío. Dedicación del Templo

16 T he people of Israel, the religious leaders, the Levites, and the rest of the people who returned from Babylon, set apart this house of God with joy.

Los Israelitas, los sacerdotes, los Levitas y los demás desterrados, celebraron con júbilo la dedicación de esta casa de Dios.

17 T o set apart this house of God they gave 100 bulls, 200 rams, 400 lambs. For a sin gift for all Israel they gave twelve male goats, one for each number of the families of Israel.

Y para la dedicación de esta casa de Dios ofrecieron 100 novillos, 200 carneros, 400 corderos, y como ofrenda por el pecado por todo Israel, doce machos cabríos, conforme al número de las tribus de Israel.

18 T hen they put the religious leaders and the Levites into groups by the work they were to do for God in Jerusalem, as it is written in the book of Moses. The Passover

Entonces asignaron a los sacerdotes en sus secciones y a los Levitas en sus clases para el servicio de Dios en Jerusalén, como está escrito en el Libro de Moisés.

19 T he people who had returned from Babylon kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.

Los desterrados celebraron la Pascua el día catorce del mes primero.

20 F or the religious leaders and the Levites had made themselves holy together. All of them were clean. Then they killed the Passover lamb for all the people, for their brothers the religious leaders, and for themselves.

Puesto que los sacerdotes y los Levitas se habían purificado juntos, todos ellos estaban purificados, entonces mataron al cordero de la Pascua para todos los desterrados, tanto para sus hermanos los sacerdotes como para sí mismos.

21 I t was eaten by the people of Israel who returned from Babylon and all those who had separated themselves from the sin of the nations of the land to join them and to look for the Lord God of Israel.

Los Israelitas que habían vuelto del destierro y todos aquéllos que se habían apartado de la impureza de las naciones de la tierra para unirse a ellos, comieron la Pascua para buscar al Señor, Dios de Israel.

22 T hey kept the Special Supper of Bread Without Yeast for seven days with joy, for the Lord had made them very happy. He had turned the heart of the king of Assyria toward them to give them strength in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Y por siete días celebraron gozosos la Fiesta de los Panes sin Levadura, porque el Señor los había llenado de regocijo, y había vuelto hacia ellos el corazón del rey de Asiria para animarlos en la obra de la casa de Dios, el Dios de Israel.
