1 W ives, obey your own husbands. Some of your husbands may not obey the Word of God. By obeying your husbands, they may become Christians by the life you live without you saying anything.

Asimismo ustedes, mujeres, estén sujetas a sus maridos, de modo que si algunos de ellos son desobedientes a la palabra, puedan ser ganados sin palabra alguna por la conducta de sus mujeres

Que el adorno de ustedes no sea el externo: peinados ostentosos, joyas de oro o vestidos lujosos,

sino que sea lo que procede de lo íntimo del corazón, con el adorno incorruptible de un espíritu tierno y sereno, lo cual es precioso delante de Dios.

Porque así también se adornaban en otro tiempo las santas mujeres que esperaban en Dios, estando sujetas a sus maridos.

Así obedeció Sara a Abraham, llamándolo señor, y ustedes han llegado a ser hijas de ella, si hacen el bien y no tienen miedo de nada que pueda aterrorizarlas.

En conclusión, sean todos de un mismo sentir (tengan todos armonía), compasivos, fraternales, misericordiosos, y de espíritu humilde;

9 W hen someone does something bad to you, do not do the same thing to him. When someone talks about you, do not talk about him. Instead, pray that good will come to him. You were called to do this so you might receive good things from God.

no devolviendo mal por mal, o insulto por insulto, sino más bien bendiciendo, porque fueron llamados con el propósito de heredar bendición.

10 F or “If you want joy in your life and have happy days, keep your tongue from saying bad things and your lips from talking bad about others.

Porque, “ El que desea la vida, amar y ver dias buenos, refrene su lengua del mal y sus labios no hablen engaño.

11 T urn away from what is sinful. Do what is good. Look for peace and go after it.

Apartese del mal y haga el bien; busque la paz y sigala.

12 T he Lord watches over those who are right with Him. He hears their prayers. But the Lord is against those who sin.”

Porque los ojos del Señor estan sobre los justos, y Sus oidos atentos a sus oraciones; pero el rostro del Señor esta contra los que hacen el mal.” Sufriendo por la Justicia

13 W ho will hurt you if you do what is right?

¿Y quién les podrá hacer daño a ustedes si demuestran tener celo por lo bueno ?

14 B ut even if you suffer for doing what is right, you will be happy. Do not be afraid or troubled by what they may do to make it hard for you.

Pero aun si sufren por causa de la justicia, dichosos son. Y no tengan miedo por temor a ellos ni se turben,

15 Y our heart should be holy and set apart for the Lord God. Always be ready to tell everyone who asks you why you believe as you do. Be gentle as you speak and show respect.

sino santifiquen a Cristo como Señor en sus corazones, estando siempre preparados para presentar defensa ante todo el que les demande razón de la esperanza que hay en ustedes. Pero háganlo con mansedumbre y reverencia,

16 K eep your heart telling you that you have done what is right. If men speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see the good way you have lived as a Christian.

teniendo buena conciencia, para que en aquello en que son calumniados, sean avergonzados los que hablan mal de la buena conducta de ustedes en Cristo.

17 I f God wants you to suffer, it is better to suffer for doing what is right than for doing what is wrong. Christ Suffered for Us

Pues es mejor padecer por hacer el bien, si así es la voluntad de Dios, que por hacer el mal.

18 C hrist suffered and died for sins once for all. He never sinned and yet He died for us who have sinned. He died so He might bring us to God. His body died but His spirit was made alive.

Porque también Cristo (el Mesías) murió por los pecados una sola vez, el justo por los injustos, para llevarnos a Dios, muerto en la carne pero vivificado en el espíritu.

19 C hrist went and preached to the spirits in prison.

En el espíritu también fue y predicó a los espíritus encarcelados,

20 T hose were the spirits of the people who would not obey in the days of Noah. God waited a long time for them while Noah was building the big boat. But only eight people were saved from dying when the earth was covered with water.

quienes en otro tiempo fueron desobedientes cuando la paciencia de Dios esperaba en los días de Noé durante la construcción del arca, en la cual unos pocos, es decir, ocho personas, fueron salvadas por medio del agua.

21 T his is like baptism to us. Baptism does not mean we wash our bodies clean. It means we are saved from the punishment of sin and go to God in prayer with a heart that says we are right. This can be done because Christ was raised from the dead.

Y correspondiendo a esto, el bautismo ahora los salva a ustedes, no quitando la suciedad de la carne, sino como una petición a Dios de una buena conciencia, mediante la resurrección de Jesucristo,

22 C hrist has gone to heaven and is on the right side of God. Angels and powers of heaven are obeying Him.

quien está a la diestra de Dios, habiendo subido al cielo después de que Le habían sido sometidos ángeles, autoridades y potestades.
