1 T hen the Lord said to Moses,

El Señor habló a Moisés y le dijo:

2 “ Tell the people of Israel to turn around and set up their tents in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. Set up your tents in front of Baal-zephon, beside the sea.

“Di a los Israelitas que den la vuelta y acampen delante de Pi Hahirot, entre Migdol y el mar. Ustedes acamparán frente a Baal Zefón, en el lado opuesto, junto al mar.

3 F or Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, ‘They have lost their way. The desert has shut them in.’

Porque Faraón dirá de los Israelitas: ‘Andan vagando sin rumbo por la tierra. El desierto los ha encerrado.’

4 I will make Pharaoh’s heart hard. And he will try to catch them. So I will be honored through Pharaoh and his whole army. Then the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.

Pero Yo endureceré el corazón de Faraón, y él los perseguirá. Y seré glorificado por medio de Faraón y de todo su ejército, y sabrán los Egipcios que Yo soy el Señor.” Y así lo hicieron.

5 W hen the king of Egypt was told that the people had left, Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds about the people. They said, “What is this we have done? We have let Israel go from working for us.”

Cuando le anunciaron al rey de Egipto que el pueblo había huido, Faraón y sus siervos cambiaron de actitud (corazón) hacia el pueblo, y dijeron: “¿Qué es esto que hemos hecho, que hemos permitido que Israel se fuera y dejaran de servirnos?”

6 S o he made his war-wagon ready and took his people with him.

Faraón preparó su carro y tomó consigo a su gente.

7 H e took 600 of the best war-wagons, and all the other war-wagons of Egypt in the care of leaders.

Tomó 600 carros escogidos, y todos los demás carros de Egipto, con oficiales sobre todos ellos.

8 T he Lord made the heart of Pharaoh, king of Egypt hard. And Pharaoh went to catch the people of Israel, who were leaving without fear.

El Señor endureció el corazón de Faraón, rey de Egipto, y éste persiguió a los Israelitas, pero éstos habían salido con mano fuerte.

9 T he Egyptians followed them with all the horses and war-wagons of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army. And they came to them at their tents by the sea, beside Pi-hahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.

Los Egipcios los persiguieron con todos los caballos y carros de Faraón, su caballería y su ejército, y los alcanzaron acampados junto al mar, junto a Pi Hahirot, frente a Baal Zefón.

10 W hen Pharaoh came near, the people of Israel looked and saw the Egyptians coming after them. And they were filled with fear and cried out to the Lord.

Al acercarse Faraón, los Israelitas alzaron los ojos, y vieron que los Egipcios marchaban tras ellos. Entonces los Israelitas tuvieron mucho miedo y clamaron al Señor.

11 T hen they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What have you done to us, in bringing us out of Egypt?

Y dijeron a Moisés: “¿Acaso no había sepulcros en Egipto para que nos sacaras a morir en el desierto? ¿Por qué nos has tratado de esta manera, sacándonos de Egipto ?

12 D id we not tell you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone and let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die here.”

¿No es esto lo que te dijimos en Egipto: ‘Déjanos, para que sirvamos a los Egipcios’? Porque mejor nos hubiera sido servir a los Egipcios que morir en el desierto.”

13 B ut Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid! Be strong, and see how the Lord will save you today. For the Egyptians you have seen today, you will never see again.

Pero Moisés dijo al pueblo: “No teman; estén firmes y vean la salvación que el Señor hará hoy por ustedes. Porque los Egipcios a quienes han visto hoy, no los volverán a ver jamás.

14 T he Lord will fight for you. All you have to do is keep still.”

El Señor peleará por ustedes mientras ustedes se quedan callados.”

15 T hen the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to keep going.

Entonces dijo el Señor a Moisés: “¿Por qué clamas a Mí? Di a los Israelitas que se pongan en marcha.

16 L ift up your special stick and put out your hand over the sea, and divide it. Then the people of Israel will go through the sea on dry land.

Y tú, levanta tu vara y extiende tu mano sobre el mar y divídelo. Y los Israelitas pasarán por en medio del mar, sobre tierra seca.

17 I will make the Egyptians’ hearts hard, so they will go after them. And I will be honored through Pharaoh and his whole army, his war-wagons and his horsemen.

Pero Yo endureceré el corazón de los Egipcios para que entren a perseguirlos. Me glorificaré en Faraón y en todo su ejército, en sus carros y en su caballería.

18 T he Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I am honored through Pharaoh, his war-wagons and his horsemen.”

Entonces sabrán los Egipcios que Yo soy el Señor, cuando sea glorificado en Faraón, en sus carros y en su caballería.”

19 T hen the Angel of God, who had been going in front of the army of Israel, moved and went behind them. The cloud moved from the front of them and stood behind them.

El ángel de Dios que había ido delante del campamento de Israel, se apartó, e iba detrás de ellos. La columna de nube que había ido delante de ellos, se apartó, y se les puso detrás,

20 I t came between the army of Egypt and the army of Israel. There was the cloud and the darkness, yet it gave light at night. And the one army did not come near the other all night.

y vino a colocarse entre el campamento de Egipto y el campamento de Israel. La nube estaba junto con las tinieblas. Sin embargo, de noche alumbraba a Israel, y en toda la noche no se acercaron los unos a los otros. Paso del Mar Rojo

21 T hen Moses put out his hand over the sea. And the Lord moved the sea all night by a strong east wind. So the waters were divided.

Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar, y el Señor, por medio de un fuerte viento del este que sopló toda la noche, hizo que el mar se retirara, y cambió el mar en tierra seca. Así quedaron divididas las aguas.

22 A nd the people of Israel went through the sea on dry land. The waters were like a wall to them on their right and on their left.

Los Israelitas entraron por en medio del mar, en seco, y las aguas les eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

23 T hen the Egyptians followed them. All Pharaoh’s horses and war-wagons and horsemen went in the sea after them.

Entonces los Egipcios reanudaron la persecución, y entraron tras ellos en medio del mar todos los caballos de Faraón, sus carros y sus jinetes.

24 I n the morning hours, the Lord looked down on the Egyptian army through the fire and cloud. And He made the Egyptian army afraid.

A la vigilia de la mañana (2 a 6 a. m.), el Señor miró el ejército de los Egipcios desde la columna de fuego y de nube, y sembró la confusión en el ejército de los Egipcios.

25 H e made the wheels of their war-wagons come off, so it was hard for the wagons to be moved. So the Egyptians said, “Let us run away from Israel. For the Lord is fighting for them against the Egyptians.”

Y entorpeció las ruedas de sus carros, e hizo que avanzaran con dificultad. Entonces los Egipcios dijeron: “Huyamos ante Israel, porque el Señor pelea por ellos contra los Egipcios.” Dios Salva a Su pueblo con Poder

26 T hen the Lord said to Moses, “Put out your hand over the sea. And the waters will flow over the Egyptians, and over their war-wagons and their horsemen.”

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Extiende tu mano sobre el mar para que las aguas vuelvan sobre los Egipcios, sobre sus carros y su caballería.”

27 A nd when the morning came, the Egyptians ran into the wall of water as the sea returned to the way it was before. The Lord destroyed the Egyptians in the sea.

Y Moisés extendió su mano sobre el mar, y al amanecer, el mar regresó a su estado normal, y los Egipcios al huir se encontraban con él. Así derribó el Señor a los Egipcios en medio del mar.

28 T he waters returned and covered the war-wagons and the horsemen and Pharaoh’s whole army that had gone in the sea after them. Not even one of them was left.

Las aguas volvieron y cubrieron los carros y la caballería, a todo el ejército de Faraón que había entrado tras ellos en el mar. No quedó ni uno de ellos.

29 B ut the people of Israel walked on dry land through the sea. The waters were like a wall to them on their right and on their left.

Pero los Israelitas pasaron en seco por en medio del mar, y las aguas les eran como un muro a su derecha y a su izquierda.

30 S o the Lord saved Israel that day from the Egyptians. And Israel saw the Egyptians dead beside the sea.

Aquel día el Señor salvó a Israel de mano de los Egipcios. Israel vio a los Egipcios muertos a la orilla del mar.

31 I srael saw the great power which the Lord had used against the Egyptians. And the people had fear of the Lord. They believed in the Lord and in His servant Moses.

Cuando Israel vio el gran poder que el Señor había usado contra los Egipcios, el pueblo temió (reverenció) al Señor, y creyeron en el Señor y en Moisés, Su siervo.
