1 T hey were near Jerusalem and had come to the town of Bethphage at the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two followers on ahead.

Cuando se acercaron a Jerusalén y llegaron a Betfagé, junto al Monte de los Olivos, Jesús entonces envió a dos discípulos,

2 H e said to them, “Go to the town over there. You will find a donkey tied and her young with her. Let them loose and bring them to Me.

diciéndoles: “Vayan a la aldea que está enfrente de ustedes, y enseguida encontrarán un asna atada y un pollino con ella; desáten la y tráigan los a Mí.

3 I f anyone says something to you, say, ‘The Lord needs them.’ He will send them at once.”

Y si alguien les dice algo, digan: ‘El Señor los necesita;’ y enseguida los enviará.”

4 I t happened as the early preacher said it would happen, saying,

Esto sucedió para que se cumpliera lo que fue dicho por medio del profeta, cuando dijo:

5 “ Say to the people in Jerusalem, ‘See! Your King is coming to you. He is gentle. He is riding on a young donkey.’”

“ Digan a la hija de Sion: ‘ Mira, tu Rey viene a ti, humilde y montado en un asna, y en un pollino, hijo de bestia de carga.’”

6 T he followers went and did as Jesus told them.

Entonces fueron los discípulos e hicieron tal como Jesús les había mandado,

7 T hey brought the donkey and her young one. They put their clothes on the donkey and Jesus sat on them.

y trajeron el asna y el pollino. Pusieron sobre ellos sus mantos y Jesús se sentó encima.

8 M any people put their coats down on the road. Other people cut branches from the trees and put them along the way.

La mayoría de la multitud tendió sus mantos en el camino; otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las tendían por el camino.

9 T he people who went in front and those who followed Jesus called out, “Greatest One! The Son of David! Great and honored is He Who comes in the name of the Lord! Greatest One in the highest heaven.”

Y las multitudes que iban delante de El y las que iban detrás, gritaban: “¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡ Bendito Aquel que viene en el nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!”

10 W hen Jesus came into Jerusalem, all the people of the city were troubled. They said, “Who is this?”

Cuando Jesús entró en Jerusalén, toda la ciudad se agitó, y decían: “¿Quién es Este?”

11 M any people said, “This is Jesus, the One Who speaks for God from the town of Nazareth in the country of Galilee.” Jesus Stops the Buying and the Selling in the House of God

Y las multitudes contestaban: “Este es el profeta Jesús, de Nazaret de Galilea.” Jesús Echa a los Mercaderes del Templo

12 T hen Jesus went into the house of God and made all those leave who were buying and selling there. He turned over the tables of the men who changed money. He turned over the seats of those who sold doves.

Jesús entró en el templo y echó fuera a todos los que compraban y vendían en el templo. También volcó las mesas de los que cambiaban el dinero y los asientos de los que vendían las palomas.

13 H e said to them, “It is written, ‘My house is to be called a house of prayer.’ You have made it a place of robbers.”

Y les dijo: “Escrito está, ‘ Mi casa sera llamada casa de oracion,’ pero ustedes la están haciendo cueva de ladrones.”

14 T he blind and those who could not walk came to Jesus in the house of God and He healed them.

En el templo se acercaron a El los ciegos y los cojos, y los sanó.

15 T he religious leaders of the Jews and the teachers of the Law saw the great things He did. They heard the children calling in the house of God and saying, “Greatest One! Son of David!” The leaders were very angry.

Pero cuando los principales sacerdotes y los escribas vieron las maravillas que había hecho, y a los muchachos que gritaban en el templo y decían: “¡Hosanna al Hijo de David!” se indignaron.

16 T hey said to Jesus, “Do you hear what these children are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes, have you not read the writings, ‘Even little children and babies will honor Him’?”

Y Le dijeron: “¿Oyes lo que éstos dicen?” Y Jesús les respondió: “Sí, ¿nunca han leído: ‘ De la boca de los pequeños y de los niños de pecho te has preparado alabanza ?’”

17 J esus left them and went out of the city to the town of Bethany. He stayed there that night. The Fig Tree Dries Up

Y dejándolos, salió fuera de la ciudad, a Betania, y se hospedó allí. La Higuera Estéril

18 I n the morning as He was coming back to the city, He was hungry.

Por la mañana, cuando regresaba a la ciudad (Jerusalén), Jesús tuvo hambre.

19 H e saw a fig tree by the side of the road and went to it. There was nothing on it but leaves. He said to the tree, “No fruit will ever grow on you again.” At once the fig tree dried up.

Y al ver una higuera junto al camino, se acercó a ella, pero no halló nada en ella sino sólo hojas, y le dijo: “Nunca jamás brote fruto de ti.” Y al instante se secó la higuera.

20 T he followers saw it and were surprised and wondered. They said, “How did the fig tree dry up so fast?”

Los discípulos se maravillaron al ver esto, y decían: “¿Cómo es que la higuera se secó al instante?”

21 J esus said to them, “For sure, I tell you this: If you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only be able to do what was done to the fig tree. You will also be able to say to this mountain, ‘Move from here and be thrown into the sea,’ and it will be done.

Jesús les respondió: “En verdad les digo que si tienen fe y no dudan, no sólo harán lo de la higuera, sino que aun si dicen a este monte: ‘Quítate y échate al mar,’ así sucederá.

22 A ll things you ask for in prayer, you will receive if you have faith.” They Ask Jesus Who Gave Him the Power to Do These Things

Y todo lo que pidan en oración, creyendo, lo recibirán.” La Autoridad de Jesús Puesta en Duda

23 J esus came into the house of God. The religious leaders and the other leaders of the people came up to Him as He was teaching. They said, “By what right and power are You doing these things? Who gave You the right and the power to do them?”

Cuando Jesús llegó al templo, los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo se acercaron a El mientras enseñaba, diciendo: “¿Con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, y quién Te dio esta autoridad?”

24 J esus said to them, “I will ask you one thing also. If you tell Me, then I will tell you by what right and power I do these things.

Y Jesús les respondió: “Yo también les haré una pregunta, que si Me la contestan, Yo también les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

25 W as the baptism of John from heaven or from men?” They thought among themselves, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ then He will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

¿De dónde era el bautismo de Juan, del cielo o de los hombres?” Y ellos discutían entre sí, diciendo: “Si decimos: ‘Del cielo,’ El nos dirá: ‘Entonces, ¿por qué no le creyeron?’

26 B ut if we say, ‘From men,’ we are afraid of the people, because they all think John was one who spoke for God.”

Y si decimos: ‘De los hombres,’ tememos a la multitud; porque todos tienen a Juan por profeta.”

27 T hey said to Jesus, “We do not know.” He said to them, “Then I will not tell you by what right and power I do these things. The Picture-Story of the Two Sons

Y respondieron a Jesús: “No lo sabemos.” El a su vez les dijo: “Tampoco Yo les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.

28 “ What do you think about this? There was a man who had two sons. He came to the first son and said, ‘My son, go to my grape-field and work today.’

“Pero, ¿qué les parece? Un hombre tenía dos hijos, y llegándose al primero, le dijo: ‘Hijo, ve, trabaja hoy en la viña.’

29 H e said, ‘I will go.’ But he did not go.

Y él respondió: ‘No quiero;’ pero después, arrepentido, fue.

30 T he father came to the second son and asked the same thing. The son said, ‘No, I will not go.’ Later he was sorry and went.

Llegándose al otro, le dijo lo mismo; y éste respondió: ‘Yo iré, señor;’ pero no fue.

31 W hich one of the two sons did what his father wanted?” They said to Jesus, “The second son.” Jesus said to them, “For sure, I tell you this: Tax-gatherers and women who sell the use of their bodies will get into the holy nation of heaven before you.

¿Cuál de los dos hizo la voluntad del padre?” “El primero,” respondieron ellos. Jesús les dijo: “En verdad les digo que los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras entran en el reino de Dios antes que ustedes.

32 F or John came to you preaching about being right with God. You did not believe him. But tax-gatherers and women who sell the use of their bodies did believe him. When you saw this, you were not sorry for your sins and did not turn from them and believe him. The Picture-Story of the Grape-Field

Porque Juan vino a ustedes en camino de justicia y no le creyeron, pero los recaudadores de impuestos y las rameras le creyeron; y ustedes, viendo esto, ni siquiera se arrepintieron después para creerle. Parábola de los Labradores Malvados

33 “ Listen to another picture-story. A man who owned land planted grapes in a field and put a fence around it. He made a place for making wine. He built a tower to look over the grape-field. He let farmers rent it and then he went into another country.

“Escuchen otra parábola. Había una vez un hacendado que planto una viña y la cerco con un muro, y cavo en ella un lagar y edifico una torre, la arrendó a unos labradores y se fue de viaje.

34 T he time came for gathering the grapes. He sent his servants to the farmers to get the grapes.

Cuando se acercó el tiempo de la cosecha, envió sus siervos a los labradores para recibir sus frutos.

35 T he farmers took his servants and hit one. They killed another and threw stones at another.

Pero los labradores, tomando a los siervos, a uno lo golpearon, a otro lo mataron y a otro lo apedrearon.

36 A gain he sent other servants. He sent more than the first time. The farmers did the same to those servants.

Volvió a mandar otro grupo de siervos, mayor que el primero; y les hicieron lo mismo.

37 A fter this he sent his son to them. He said to himself, ‘They will respect my son.’

Finalmente les envió a su hijo, diciendo: ‘Respetarán a mi hijo.’

38 W hen the farmers saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the one who will get everything when the owner dies. Let us kill him and we will get it all.’

Pero cuando los labradores vieron al hijo, dijeron entre sí: ‘Este es el heredero; vengan, matémoslo y apoderémonos de su heredad.’

39 T hey took him and threw him out of the grape-field and killed him.

Y echándole mano, lo arrojaron fuera de la viña y lo mataron.

40 W hen the owner of the grape-field comes, what will he do to those farmers?”

Cuando venga, pues, el dueño de la viña, ¿qué hará a esos labradores?”

41 T hey said to Him, “He will put those bad men to death. Then he will rent the grape-field to other farmers who will give him the grapes when they are ready.”

Ellos respondieron: “Llevará a esos miserables a un fin lamentable, y arrendará la viña a otros labradores que le paguen los frutos a su tiempo.”

42 J esus said to them, “Have you not read in the Holy Writings, ‘The Stone that was put aside by the workmen has become the most important Stone in the building? The Lord has done this. We think it is great!’

Jesús les dijo: “¿Nunca leyeron en las Escrituras: ‘ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido; esto fue hecho de parte del Señor, y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos ’?

43 I say to you, because of this, the holy nation of God will be taken from you. It will be given to a nation that will give fruit.

Por eso les digo que el reino de Dios les será quitado a ustedes y será dado a una nación que produzca los frutos del reino.

44 W hoever falls on this Stone will be broken. And on the one it falls, it will make him like dust.”

Y el que caiga sobre esta piedra será hecho pedazos; pero sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo.”

45 W hen the religious leaders and the proud religious law-keepers heard this picture-story, they knew He spoke of them.

Al oír las parábolas de Jesús los principales sacerdotes y los Fariseos, comprendieron que El hablaba de ellos.

46 W hen they tried to put their hands on Him, they were afraid of the many people. The people thought He was One Who spoke for God.

Y cuando procuraron prender a Jesús, tuvieron miedo de la multitud, porque ellos Lo tenían por profeta.
