1 T his letter is from Paul. I have been chosen by God to be a missionary for Jesus Christ. Timothy is here with me and is writing to you also. We are writing to God’s church in the city of Corinth and to all of God’s people in the country of Greece.

Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Timoteo, A la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya:

2 M ay you have loving-favor and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Gracia y paz a ustedes de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Dios de toda Consolación

3 W e give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Father Who shows us loving-kindness and our God Who gives us comfort.

Bendito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,

4 H e gives us comfort in all our troubles. Then we can comfort other people who have the same troubles. We give the same kind of comfort God gives us.

el cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que también nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier aflicción, dándoles el consuelo con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.

5 A s we have suffered much for Christ and have shared in His pain, we also share His great comfort.

Porque así como los sufrimientos de Cristo son nuestros en abundancia, así también abunda nuestro consuelo por medio de Cristo (el Mesías).

6 B ut if we are in trouble, it is for your good. And it is so you will be saved from the punishment of sin. If God comforts us, it is for your good also. You too will be given strength not to give up when you have the same kind of trouble we have.

Pero si somos atribulados, es para el consuelo y salvación de ustedes; o si somos consolados, es para consuelo de ustedes, que obra al soportar las mismas aflicciones que nosotros también sufrimos.

7 O ur hope for you is the same all the time. We know you are sharing our troubles. And so you will share the comfort we receive.

Y nuestra esperanza respecto de ustedes está firmemente establecida, sabiendo que como son copartícipes de los sufrimientos, así también lo son de la consolación.

8 W e want you to know, Christian brothers, of the trouble we had in the countries of Asia. The load was so heavy we did not have the strength to keep going. At times we did not think we could live.

Porque no queremos que ignoren, hermanos, acerca de nuestra aflicción sufrida en Asia (provincia occidental de Asia Menor). Porque fuimos abrumados sobremanera, más allá de nuestras fuerzas, de modo que hasta perdimos la esperanza de salir con vida.

9 W e thought we would die. This happened so we would not put our trust in ourselves, but in God Who raises the dead.

De hecho, dentro de nosotros mismos ya teníamos la sentencia de muerte, a fin de que no confiáramos en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos,

10 Y es, God kept us from what looked like sure death and He is keeping us. As we trust Him, He will keep us in the future.

el cual nos libró de tan gran peligro de muerte y nos librará, y en quien hemos puesto nuestra esperanza de que El aún nos ha de librar.

11 Y ou also help us by praying for us. Many people thank God for His favor to us. This is an answer to the prayers of many people. Paul Wants to Visit Corinth

Ustedes también cooperaron con nosotros con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don que nos ha sido impartido por medio de las oraciones de muchos. Sinceridad de Pablo

12 I am happy to say this. Whatever we did in this world, and for sure when we were with you, we were honest and had pure desires. We did not trust in human wisdom. Our power came from God’s loving-favor.

Porque nuestra satisfacción es ésta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia que en la santidad y en la sinceridad que viene de Dios, no en sabiduría carnal sino en la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo y especialmente hacia ustedes.

13 W e write to you only what we know you can understand. I hope you will understand everything.

Porque ninguna otra cosa les escribimos sino lo que leen y entienden, y espero que entenderán hasta el fin;

14 W hen the Lord Jesus comes again, you can be as proud of us as we will be proud of you. Right now you do not understand us real well.

como también ustedes nos han entendido en parte que nosotros somos el motivo de su gloria, así como también ustedes la nuestra en el día de nuestro Señor Jesús.

15 I t was because of this, I wanted to visit you first. In that way, you would be helped two times.

Y con esta confianza me propuse ir primero a ustedes para que dos veces recibieran bendición,

16 I wanted to stop to visit you on my way to the country of Macedonia. I would stop again as I came from there. Then you could help me on my way to the country of Judea.

es decir, quería visitarlos de paso a Macedonia, y de Macedonia ir de nuevo a ustedes y ser encaminado por ustedes en mi viaje a Judea.

17 Y es, I changed my mind. Does that show that I change my mind a lot? Do I plan things as people of the world who say yes when they mean no? You know I am not like that!

Por tanto, cuando me propuse esto, ¿acaso obré precipitadamente? O lo que me propongo, ¿me lo propongo conforme a la carne, para que en mí haya al mismo tiempo el sí, sí, y el no, no?

18 A s God is true, my yes means yes. I am not the kind of person who says one thing and means another.

Pero como Dios es fiel, nuestra palabra a ustedes no es sí y no.

19 T imothy and Silvanus and I have preached to you about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. In Him there is no yes and no. In Him is yes.

Porque el Hijo de Dios, Cristo Jesús, que fue predicado entre ustedes por nosotros, por mí, Silvano y Timoteo, no fue sí y no, sino que ha sido sí en El.

20 J esus says yes to all of God’s many promises. It is through Jesus that we say, “Let it be so,” when we give thanks to God.

Pues tantas como sean las promesas de Dios, en El todas son sí. Por eso también por medio de El, es nuestro Amén (así sea), para la gloria de Dios por medio de nosotros.

21 G od is the One Who makes our faith and your faith strong in Christ. He has set us apart for Himself.

Ahora bien, el que nos confirma con ustedes en Cristo y el que nos ungió, es Dios,

22 H e has put His mark on us to show we belong to Him. His Spirit is in our hearts to prove this.

quien también nos selló y nos dio el Espíritu en nuestro corazón como garantía.

23 I call on God to look into my heart. The reason I did not come to the city of Corinth was because I did not want my strong words to hurt you.

Pero yo invoco a Dios como testigo sobre mi alma, que por consideración a ustedes no he vuelto a Corinto.

24 W e are not the boss of your faith but we are working with you to make you happy. Your faith is strong.

No es que queramos tener control de su fe, sino que somos colaboradores con ustedes para su gozo, porque es en la fe que permanecen firmes.
