1 A nd Rehoboam cometh in to Jerusalem, and assembleth the house of Judah and Benjamin, a hundred and eighty thousand chosen warriors, to fight with Israel, to bring back the kingdom to Rehoboam.

2 A nd a word of Jehovah is unto Shemaiah, a man of God, saying,

Но Господното слово дойде към Божия човек Самаия, и рече:

3 ` Speak unto Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, and unto all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,

Говори на Ровоама Соломоновия син, Юдовия цар, и на целия Израил в Юда и във Вениамин, като речеш:

4 T hus said Jehovah, Ye do not go up nor fight with your brethren, turn back each to his house, for from Me hath this thing been;' and they hear the words of Jehovah, and turn back from going against Jeroboam.

Така казва Господ: Не възлизайте, нито се бийте против братята си; върнете се всеки у дома си, защото от Мене става това нещо. И те послушаха Господните думи та се върнаха, и не отидоха против Еровоама.

5 A nd Rehoboam dwelleth in Jerusalem, and buildeth cities for a bulwark in Judah,

А Ровоам, като се установи, в Ерусалим, съгради укрепени градове в Юда;

6 y ea, he buildeth Beth-Lehem and Etam, and Tekoa,

съгради Витлеем, Итам, Текуе,

7 a nd Beth-Zur, and Shocho, and Adullam,

Ветсур, Сохо, Одолам,

8 a nd Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,

Гет, Мариса, Зиф,

9 a nd Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,

Адораим, Лахис, Азика,

10 a nd Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, that in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of bulwarks.

Сарая, Еалон и Хеврон, които са укрепени градове в Юда и във Вениамин,

11 A nd he strengtheneth the bulwarks, and putteth in them leaders, and treasures of food, and oil, and wine,

Укрепи <тия> крепости, и тури в тях военачалници и запаси от храна, дървено масло и вино.

12 a nd in every city and city targets and spears, and strengtheneth them very greatly; and he hath Judah and Benjamin.

Още във всеки град <тури> щитове и копия, и укрепи ги твърде много. Така Юда и Вениамин останаха под него.

13 A nd the priests, and the Levites, that in all Israel, have stationed themselves by him, out of all their border,

И всичките свещеници и левити, които бяха в Израил, се събраха при него от всичките си краища.

14 f or the Levites have left their suburbs and their possession, and they come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons have cast them off from acting as priests to Jehovah,

Защото левитите оставиха пасбищата си и притежанията си та дойдоха в Юда и в Ерусалим; понеже Еровоам и синовете му бяха ги изпъдили, за да не свещенодействуват Господу,

15 a nd he establisheth to him priests for high places, and for goats, and for calves, that he made --

и <Еровоам> беше си поставил жреци за високите места, за бесовете и за телетата, които бе направил.

16 a nd after them, out of all the tribes of Israel, those giving their heart to seek Jehovah, God of Israel, have come in to Jerusalem to sacrifice to Jehovah, God of their father.

И след тях, колкото души от всичките Израилеви племена утвърдиха сърцата си да търсят Господа Израилевия Бог, дойдоха в Ерусалим за да жертвуват на Господа Бога на бащите си.

17 A nd they strengthen the kingdom of Judah, and strengthen Rehoboam son of Solomon, for three years, because they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.

Така за три години те подкрепяха Юдовото царство и поддържаха Ровоама Соломоновия син; защото три години ходеха в пътя на Давида и на Соломона.

18 A nd Rehoboam taketh to him a wife, Mahalath, child of Jerimoth son of David, Abigail daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.

И Ровоам си взе за жена Маелетя, дъщеря на Давидовия син Еримот, и Авихаила, дъщеря на Есеевия син Елиав,

19 A nd she beareth to him sons, Jeush, and Shamaria, and Zaham.

която му роди синове: Еуса, Самария и Заама.

20 A nd after her he hath taken Maachah daughter of Absalom, and she beareth to him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.

А подир нея взе Авия, Атай, Зиза и Селомита.

21 A nd Rehoboam loveth Maachah daughter of Absalom above all his wives and his concubines -- for eighteen wives he hath taken, and sixty concubines -- and he begetteth twenty and eight sons, and sixty daughters.

И Ровоам възлюби Мааха Авесаломовата дъщеря повече от всичките си жени и наложници: (защото взе осемнадесет жени и шестдесет наложници, и роди двадесет и осем сина и шестдесет дъщери);

22 A nd Rehoboam appointeth for head Abijah son of Maachah, for leader among his brethren, for to cause him to reign.

и Ровоам постави Маахиния син Авия за княз да началствува над братята си, защото <мислеше> да го направи цар.

23 A nd he hath understanding, and spreadeth out of all his sons to all lands of Judah and Benjamin, to all cities of the bulwarks, and giveth to them provision in abundance; and he asketh a multitude of wives.

И постъпваше разумно, като разпръсна всичките си синове, <по неколцина> във всеки укрепен град, по всичките Юдови и Вениаминови земи, и даваше им изобилна храна. И <за тях> потърси много жени.
