1 A nd the war is long between the house of Saul and the house of David, and David is going on and strong, and the house of Saul are going on and weak.

А войната между Сауловия дом и Давидовия дом трая дълго време; и Давид непрестанно се засилваше, а Сауловият дом непрестанно ослабваше.

2 A nd there are born to David sons in Hebron, and his first-born is Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,

И народиха се синове на Давида в Хеврон; първородният му беше Амнон, от езраелката Ахиноам;

3 a nd his second Chileab, of Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite, and the third Absalom son of Maacah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur,

вторият му, Хилеав {В 1. Лет. 3: 1, Даниил.}, от Авигея, жената на кармилеца Навал; третият, Авесалом, син на Мааха, дъщеря на гесурския цар Талмай;

4 a nd the fourth Adonijah son of Haggith, and the fifth Shephatiah son of Abital,

четвъртият, Адония, син на Агита; петият Сефатия, син на Авитала;

5 a nd the sixth Ithream, of Eglah wife of David; these have been born to David in Hebron.

и шестият, Итраам, от Давидовата жена Егла. Тия се родиха на Давида в Хеврон.

6 A nd it cometh to pass, in the war being between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner hath been strengthening himself in the house of Saul,

А докато продължаваше войната между Сауловия дом и Давидовия дом Авенир беше подпорка на Сауловия дом.

7 a nd Saul hath a concubine, and her name Rizpah daughter of Aiah, and saith unto Abner, `Wherefore hast thou gone in unto the concubine of my father?'

А Саул имаше наложница на име Ресфа, дъщеря на Аия; и <Исвостей> каза на Авенира: Ти защо си влязъл при бащината ми наложница?

8 A nd it is displeasing to Abner exceedingly, because of the words of Ish-Bosheth, and he saith, `The head of a dog I -- that in reference to Judah to-day I do kindness with the house of Saul thy father, unto his brethren, and unto his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David -- that thou chargest against me iniquity concerning the woman to-day?

Тогава Авенир много се разяри за думите на Исвостея, и рече: Кучешка глава ли съм аз откъм Юдовата страна? Днес показвам благост към дома на баща ти Саула, към братята му и към приятелите му, като не те предадох в Давидовата ръка, и пак ме обвиняваш днес за тая жена!

9 t hus doth God to Abner, and thus He doth add to him, surely as Jehovah hath sworn to David -- surely so I do to him:

Така да направи Бог на Авенира, да! и повече да му притури, ако не сторя за Давида тъй, както Господ му се е клел,

10 t o cause the kingdom to pass over from the house of Saul, and to raise up the throne of David over Israel, and over Judah, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba.'

като направя да премине царството от Сауловия дом, и като поставя Давидовият престол над Израиля, <както е> и над Юда, от Дан до Вирсавее.

11 A nd he is not able any more to turn back Abner a word, because of his fearing him.

И <Исвостей> не можеше вече да отговори ни дума на Авенира, понеже се боеше от него.

12 A nd Abner sendeth messengers unto David for himself, saying, `Whose the land?' saying, `Make thy covenant with me, and lo, my hand with thee, to bring round unto thee all Israel.'

Тогава Авенир изпрати човеци до Давида да кажат от негова страна: Чия е земята? Думаше още: Направи договор с мене; и, ето, моята ръка ще бъде с тебе, щото да доведа под твоята власт целия Израил.

13 A nd he saith, `Good -- I make with thee a covenant; only, one thing I am asking of thee, that is, Thou dost not see my face, except thou dost first bring in Michal, daughter of Saul in thy coming into see my face.'

А той каза: Добре, аз ще направя договор с тебе; но едно нещо искам аз от тебе, а именно, че няма да видиш лицето ми, ако не доведеш предварително Сауловата дъщеря Михала, когато дойдеш да видиш лицето ми.

14 A nd David sendeth messengers unto Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, saying, `Give up my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself with a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.'

И Давид прати човеци до Сауловия син Исвостея да кажат: Предай жена ми Михала, която съм взел за жена срещу сто филистимски краекожия.

15 A nd Ish-Bosheth sendeth, and taketh her from a man, from Phaltiel son of Laish,

Исвостей, прочее, прати та я взе от мъжа й Фалатиила Лаисовия син.

16 a nd her husband goeth with her, going on and weeping behind her, unto Bahurim, and Abner saith unto him, `Go, turn back;' and he turneth back.

И мъжът й дойде с нея, и като вървеше плачеше, и я последва до Ваурим. Тогава Авенир му каза: Иди, върни се; и той се върна.

17 A nd the word of Abner was with the elders of Israel, saying, `Heretofore ye have been seeking David for king over you,

А Авенир <влезе във връзка> с Израилевите старейшини и рече: В миналото време вие сте искали Давида да царува над вас;

18 a nd now, do, for Jehovah hath spoken of David saying, By the hand of David my servant -- to save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'

сега, прочее, сторете това, защото Господ е говорил за Давида, казвайки: Чрез ръката на слугата Си Давида ще избавя людете Си от ръката на филистимците и от ръката на всичките им неприятели.

19 A nd Abner speaketh also in the ears of Benjamin, and Abner goeth also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of all the house of Benjamin,

Авенир говори още и в ушите на вениаминците; също Авенир отиде да говори и в ушите на Давида в Хеврон всичко, що бе угодно на Израиля и на целия Вениаминов дом.

20 a nd Abner cometh in unto David, to Hebron, and with him twenty men, and David maketh for Abner, and for the men who with him, a banquet.

И тъй, Авенир дойде при Давида в Хеврон, и с него двадесет мъже. И Давид направи угощение на Авенира и на мъжете, които бяха с него.

21 A nd Abner saith unto David, `I arise, and go, and gather unto my lord the king the whole of Israel, and they make with thee a covenant, and thou hast reigned over all that thy soul desireth;' and David sendeth away Abner, and he goeth in peace.

Тогава Авенир каза на Давида: Ще стана да ида, и ще събера целия Израил при господаря си царя, за да направят завет с тебе, та да царуваш над всички, според желанието на душата си. И Давид изпрати Авенира, и той отиде с мир.

22 A nd lo, the servants of David, and Joab, have come from the troop, and much spoil have brought with them, and Abner is not with David in Hebron, for he hath sent him away, and he goeth in peace;

И, ето, Давидовите слуги и Иоав идеха от едно нашествие и носеха със себе си много користи; но Авенир не беше с Давида в Хеврон, защото той го беше изпратил, и <Авенир> беше отишъл с мир.

23 a nd Joab and all the host that with him have come, and they declare to Joab, saying, `Abner son of Ner hath come unto the king, and he sendeth him away, and he goeth in peace.'

А като дойде Иоав и цялата войска, която беше с него, известиха на Иоава казвайки: Авенир Нировият син дойде при царя; и той го изпрати, та си отиде с мир.

24 A nd Joab cometh unto the king, and saith, `What hast thou done? lo, Abner hath come unto thee! why this -- thou hast sent him away, and he is really gone?

Тогава Иоав влезе при царя и рече: Що си сторил? Ето Авенир е дохождал при тебе; защо си го изпратил та си е отишъл?

25 T hou hast known Abner son of Ner, that to deceive thee he came, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou art doing.'

Знаеш <какъв е> Авенир Нировият син; той е дохождал за да те измами, и да научи излизането ти и влизането ти, и да научи всичко, що правиш.

26 A nd Joab goeth out from David, and sendeth messengers after Abner, and they bring him back from the well of Sirah, and David knew not.

И Иоав, като излезе от <при> Давида, прати човеци подир Авенира, които го върнаха от кладенеца Сира; Давид, обаче, не знаеше това.

27 A nd Abner turneth back to Hebron, and Joab turneth him aside unto the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smiteth him there in the fifth -- and he dieth -- for the blood of Asahel his brother.

И когато се върна Авенир в Хеврон, Иоав го отведе на страна в портата, за да му говори <уж> тайно; и там го удари в корема за кръвта на брата си Асаила; и той умря.

28 A nd David heareth afterwards and saith, `Acquitted I, and my kingdom, by Jehovah, unto the age, from the blood of Abner son of Ner;

А по-после, като чу Давид, рече: Невинен съм аз и царството ми пред Господа до века за кръвта на Авенира Нировия син;

29 i t doth stay on the head of Joab, and on all the house of his father, and there is not cut off from the house of Joab one having an issue, and leprous, and laying hold on a staff, and falling by a sword, and lacking bread.'

нека остане тя на Иоавовата глава и на целия му бащин дом; и нека не липсва от Иоавовия дом такъв, който има семетечение, или е прокажен, или който се подпира на тояга, или пада от меч, или е лишен от хляб.

30 A nd Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner because that he put to death Asahel their brother, in Gibeon, in battle.

Така Иоав и брат му Ависей убиха Авенира, защото беше убил брата им Асаила в сражението при Гаваон.

31 A nd David saith unto Joab, and unto all the people who with him, `Rend your garments, and gird on sackcloth, and mourn before Abner;' and king David is going after the bier.

Тогава Давид каза на Иоава и на всичките люде, които бяха с него: Раздерете дрехите си, и препашете се с вретище, та плачете пред Авенира. И цар Давид вървеше след носилото.

32 A nd they bury Abner in Hebron, and the king lifteth up his voice, and weepeth at the grave of Abner, and all the people weep;

И погребаха Авенира в Хеврон; и царят плака с висок глас над Авенировия гроб; също и всичките люде плакаха.

33 a nd the king lamenteth for Abner, and saith: -- `As the death of a fool doth Abner die?

И царят плака над Авенира, и каза: - Трябваше ли Авенир да умре, както умира безумен?

34 T hy hands not bound, And thy feet to fetters not brought nigh! As one falling before sons of evil -- Thou hast fallen!' and all the people add to weep over him.

Ръцете ти не бяха вързани, Нито нозете ти турнати в окови; Както пада човек пред <тези, които вършат> неправда, Така падна ти. И всичките люде плакаха пак над него.

35 A nd all the people come to cause David to eat bread while yet day, and David sweareth, saying, `Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add, for -- before the going in of the sun, I taste no bread or any other thing.'

Сетне дойдоха всичките люде, за да предумат Давида да яде хляб, докато беше още видело; но Давид се закле, казвайки: Така да ми направи Бог, да! и повече да притури, ако вкуся хляб, или какво да било нещо, преди да зайде слънцето.

36 A nd all the people have discerned, and it is good in their eyes, as all that the king hath done is good in the eyes of all the people;

И всичките люде се научиха за това, и им стана угодно, както беше угодно на всичките люде и все що правеше царят.

37 a nd all the people know, even all Israel, in that day, that it hath not been from the king -- to put to death Abner son of Ner.

Защото в оня ден, всичките люде и целият Израил познаха, че не беше от царя да бъде убит Авенир Нировият син.

38 A nd the king saith unto his servants, `Do ye not know that a prince and a great one hath fallen this day in Israel?

И царят каза на слугите си: Не знаете ли, че велик военачалник падна днес в Израил?

39 a nd I to-day tender, and an anointed king: and these men, sons of Zeruiah, too hard for me; Jehovah doth recompense to the doer of the evil according to his evil.'

Днес аз съм слаб, ако и да съм помазан за цар; а тия мъже, Саруините синове, са много жестоки за мене. Господ да въздаде на злодееца според злодеянието му.
