1 A nd the war is long between the house of Saul and the house of David, and David is going on and strong, and the house of Saul are going on and weak.

¶ Y hubo larga guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la casa de David; mas David se iba fortificando, y la casa de Saúl iba en disminución.

2 A nd there are born to David sons in Hebron, and his first-born is Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess,

Y nacieron hijos a David en Hebrón; su primogénito fue Amnón, de Ahinoam la jezreelita;

3 a nd his second Chileab, of Abigail wife of Nabal the Carmelite, and the third Absalom son of Maacah daughter of Talmai king of Geshur,

su segundo Quileab, de Abigail la que era mujer de Nabal, el del Carmelo; el tercero, Absalón, hijo de Maaca, hija de Talmai rey de Gesur;

4 a nd the fourth Adonijah son of Haggith, and the fifth Shephatiah son of Abital,

el cuarto, Adonías hijo de Haguit; el quinto, Sefatías hijo de Abital;

5 a nd the sixth Ithream, of Eglah wife of David; these have been born to David in Hebron.

el sexto, Itream, de Egla mujer de David. Estos le nacieron a David en Hebrón.

6 A nd it cometh to pass, in the war being between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner hath been strengthening himself in the house of Saul,

Y como había guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la de David, aconteció que Abner hijo de Ner se esforzaba por la casa de Saúl.

7 a nd Saul hath a concubine, and her name Rizpah daughter of Aiah, and saith unto Abner, `Wherefore hast thou gone in unto the concubine of my father?'

¶ Y Saúl había tenido una concubina que se llamaba Rizpa, hija de Aja. Y dijo Is-boset a Abner: ¿Por qué te has llegado a la concubina de mi padre?

8 A nd it is displeasing to Abner exceedingly, because of the words of Ish-Bosheth, and he saith, `The head of a dog I -- that in reference to Judah to-day I do kindness with the house of Saul thy father, unto his brethren, and unto his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David -- that thou chargest against me iniquity concerning the woman to-day?

Y se enojó Abner en gran manera por las palabras de Is-boset, y dijo: ¿Soy yo cabeza de perros respecto de Judá? Yo he hecho hoy misericordia con la casa de Saúl tu padre, con sus hermanos, y con sus amigos, y no te he entregado en las manos de David; ¿y tú me culpas hoy de iniquidad con esta mujer?

9 t hus doth God to Abner, and thus He doth add to him, surely as Jehovah hath sworn to David -- surely so I do to him:

Así haga Dios a Abner y así le añada, si como ha jurado el SEÑOR a David no hiciere yo así con él,

10 t o cause the kingdom to pass over from the house of Saul, and to raise up the throne of David over Israel, and over Judah, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba.'

trasladando el reino de la casa de Saúl, y confirmando el trono de David sobre Israel y sobre Judá, desde Dan hasta Beerseba.

11 A nd he is not able any more to turn back Abner a word, because of his fearing him.

Y él no pudo responder palabra a Abner, porque le temía.

12 A nd Abner sendeth messengers unto David for himself, saying, `Whose the land?' saying, `Make thy covenant with me, and lo, my hand with thee, to bring round unto thee all Israel.'

Y envió Abner mensajeros a David de su parte, diciendo: ¿De quién es la tierra? Y que le dijeran: Haz pacto conmigo, y he aquí que mi mano será contigo para volver a ti todo Israel.

13 A nd he saith, `Good -- I make with thee a covenant; only, one thing I am asking of thee, that is, Thou dost not see my face, except thou dost first bring in Michal, daughter of Saul in thy coming into see my face.'

Y David dijo: Bien; yo haré pacto contigo; mas una cosa te pido, y es que no me vengas a ver sin que primero traigas a Mical la hija de Saúl, cuando vinieres a verme.

14 A nd David sendeth messengers unto Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, saying, `Give up my wife Michal, whom I betrothed to myself with a hundred foreskins of the Philistines.'

Después de esto envió David mensajeros a Is-boset hijo de Saúl, diciendo: Restitúyeme a mi mujer Mical, la cual yo desposé conmigo por cien prepucios de filisteos.

15 A nd Ish-Bosheth sendeth, and taketh her from a man, from Phaltiel son of Laish,

Entonces Is-boset envió, y la quitó a su marido Paltiel, hijo de Lais.

16 a nd her husband goeth with her, going on and weeping behind her, unto Bahurim, and Abner saith unto him, `Go, turn back;' and he turneth back.

Y su marido salió con ella, siguiéndola y llorando hasta Bahurim. Y le dijo Abner: Anda, vuélvete. Entonces él se volvió.

17 A nd the word of Abner was with the elders of Israel, saying, `Heretofore ye have been seeking David for king over you,

Y habló Abner con los ancianos de Israel, diciendo: Ayer y anteayer procurabais que David fuera rey sobre vosotros;

18 a nd now, do, for Jehovah hath spoken of David saying, By the hand of David my servant -- to save My people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.'

ahora, pues, hacedlo; porque el SEÑOR ha hablado a David, diciendo: Por la mano de mi siervo David libraré a mi pueblo Israel de mano de los filisteos, y de mano de todos sus enemigos.

19 A nd Abner speaketh also in the ears of Benjamin, and Abner goeth also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that good in the eyes of Israel, and in the eyes of all the house of Benjamin,

Y habló también Abner a los de Benjamín; y fue también Abner a Hebrón a decirle a David todo el parecer de los de Israel y de toda la casa de Benjamín.

20 a nd Abner cometh in unto David, to Hebron, and with him twenty men, and David maketh for Abner, and for the men who with him, a banquet.

Vino, pues, Abner a David en Hebrón, y con él veinte hombres; y David hizo banquete a Abner y a los que con él habían venido.

21 A nd Abner saith unto David, `I arise, and go, and gather unto my lord the king the whole of Israel, and they make with thee a covenant, and thou hast reigned over all that thy soul desireth;' and David sendeth away Abner, and he goeth in peace.

Y dijo Abner a David: Yo me levantaré e iré, y juntaré a mi señor el rey a todo Israel, para que hagan pacto contigo, y tú reines como deseas. David despidió luego a Abner, y él se fue en paz.

22 A nd lo, the servants of David, and Joab, have come from the troop, and much spoil have brought with them, and Abner is not with David in Hebron, for he hath sent him away, and he goeth in peace;

¶ Y he aquí los siervos de David y Joab, que venían del campo, y traían consigo gran presa. Mas Abner ya no estaba con David en Hebrón, pues ya lo había él despedido, y él se había ido en paz.

23 a nd Joab and all the host that with him have come, and they declare to Joab, saying, `Abner son of Ner hath come unto the king, and he sendeth him away, and he goeth in peace.'

Y luego que llegó Joab y todo el ejército que con él estaba, fue dado aviso a Joab, diciendo: Abner hijo de Ner ha venido al rey, y él le ha despedido, y se fue en paz.

24 A nd Joab cometh unto the king, and saith, `What hast thou done? lo, Abner hath come unto thee! why this -- thou hast sent him away, and he is really gone?

Entonces Joab vino al rey, y le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? He aquí vino Abner a ti; ¿por qué pues dejaste que se fuera?

25 T hou hast known Abner son of Ner, that to deceive thee he came, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou art doing.'

¿Sabes tú que Abner hijo de Ner ha venido para engañarte, y a saber tu salida y tu entrada, y para saber todo lo que tú haces?

26 A nd Joab goeth out from David, and sendeth messengers after Abner, and they bring him back from the well of Sirah, and David knew not.

Y salió Joab de la presencia de David, y envió mensajeros tras Abner, los cuales le hicieron volver desde el pozo de Sira, sin saberlo David.

27 A nd Abner turneth back to Hebron, and Joab turneth him aside unto the midst of the gate to speak with him quietly, and smiteth him there in the fifth -- and he dieth -- for the blood of Asahel his brother.

Y cuando Abner volvió a Hebrón, lo apartó Joab al medio de la puerta, hablando con él blandamente, y allí le hirió por la quinta costilla, a causa de la muerte de Asael su hermano, y murió.

28 A nd David heareth afterwards and saith, `Acquitted I, and my kingdom, by Jehovah, unto the age, from the blood of Abner son of Ner;

Cuando David supo después esto, dijo: Limpio estoy yo y mi reino, ante el SEÑOR, para siempre, de la sangre de Abner hijo de Ner.

29 i t doth stay on the head of Joab, and on all the house of his father, and there is not cut off from the house of Joab one having an issue, and leprous, and laying hold on a staff, and falling by a sword, and lacking bread.'

Caiga sobre la cabeza de Joab, y sobre toda la casa de su padre; que nunca falte de la casa de Joab quien padezca flujo, ni leproso, ni quien ande con báculo, ni quien muera a espada, ni quien tenga falta de pan.

30 A nd Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner because that he put to death Asahel their brother, in Gibeon, in battle.

Joab, pues, y Abisai su hermano mataron a Abner, porque él había dado muerte a Asael, hermano de ellos en la batalla de Gabaón.

31 A nd David saith unto Joab, and unto all the people who with him, `Rend your garments, and gird on sackcloth, and mourn before Abner;' and king David is going after the bier.

Entonces dijo David a Joab, y a todo el pueblo que con él estaba: Romped vuestros vestidos, y ceñíos de cilicio, y haced duelo delante de Abner. Y el rey iba detrás del féretro.

32 A nd they bury Abner in Hebron, and the king lifteth up his voice, and weepeth at the grave of Abner, and all the people weep;

Y sepultaron a Abner en Hebrón; y alzando el rey su voz, lloró junto al sepulcro de Abner; y lloró también todo el pueblo.

33 a nd the king lamenteth for Abner, and saith: -- `As the death of a fool doth Abner die?

Y endechando el rey al mismo Abner, decía: ¡Murió Abner como muere un loco!

34 T hy hands not bound, And thy feet to fetters not brought nigh! As one falling before sons of evil -- Thou hast fallen!' and all the people add to weep over him.

Tus manos no estaban atadas, ni tus pies ligados con grillos. Caíste como los que caen delante de malos hombres. Y todo el pueblo volvió a llorar sobre él.

35 A nd all the people come to cause David to eat bread while yet day, and David sweareth, saying, `Thus doth God to me, and thus He doth add, for -- before the going in of the sun, I taste no bread or any other thing.'

Y como todo el pueblo viniera a dar de comer pan a David siendo aún de día, David juró, diciendo: Así me haga Dios y así me añada, si antes que se ponga el sol gustare yo pan, o cualquier otra cosa.

36 A nd all the people have discerned, and it is good in their eyes, as all that the king hath done is good in the eyes of all the people;

Así entendió todo el pueblo, y agradó a sus ojos; porque todo lo que el rey hacía agradaba ante los ojos de todo el pueblo.

37 a nd all the people know, even all Israel, in that day, that it hath not been from the king -- to put to death Abner son of Ner.

Y todo el pueblo y aun todo Israel entendieron aquel día, que no había venido del rey que Abner hijo de Ner muriera.

38 A nd the king saith unto his servants, `Do ye not know that a prince and a great one hath fallen this day in Israel?

Entonces el rey dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que ha caído hoy en Israel un príncipe, y un gran hombre ?

39 a nd I to-day tender, and an anointed king: and these men, sons of Zeruiah, too hard for me; Jehovah doth recompense to the doer of the evil according to his evil.'

Que yo ahora aún soy tierno rey ungido; y estos hombres, los hijos de Sarvia, muy duros me son; el SEÑOR dé el pago al que mal hace, conforme a su malicia.
