1 P aul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon our beloved and fellow-worker,

¶ Pablo, preso por causa de Cristo Jesús, y el hermano Timoteo, a Filemón amado, y ayudador nuestro;

2 a nd Apphia the beloved, and Archippus our fellow-soldier, and the assembly in thy house:

y a la amada Apia hermana, y a Arquipo, compañero de nuestra milicia, y a la Iglesia que está en tu casa:

3 G race to you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Gracia y paz halléis del Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesús el Cristo.

4 I give thanks to my God, always making mention of thee in my prayers,

Doy gracias a mi Dios, haciendo siempre memoria de ti en mis oraciones.

5 h earing of thy love and faith that thou hast unto the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,

Oyendo tu caridad, y la fe que tienes en el Señor Jesús, y para con todos los santos;

6 t hat the fellowship of thy faith may become working in the full knowledge of every good thing that in you toward Christ Jesus;

que la comunicación de tu fe sea eficaz, para conocimiento de todo el bien que está en vosotros, por Cristo Jesús.

7 f or we have much joy and comfort in thy love, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed through thee, brother.

Porque tenemos gran gozo y consolación en tu caridad, de que por ti, oh hermano, han sido recreadas las entrañas de los santos.

8 W herefore, having in Christ much boldness to command thee that which is fit --

¶ Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha resolución en Cristo de mandarte en lo que te conviene,

9 b ecause of the love I rather entreat, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ;

ruego antes por la caridad porque soy tal, es a saber, Pablo ya anciano, y aun ahora preso por amor de Jesús, el Cristo;

10 I entreat thee concerning my child -- whom I did beget in my bonds -- Onesimus,

lo que ruego es por mi hijo Onésimo, que he engendrado en mi prisión,

11 w ho once was to thee unprofitable, and now is profitable to me and to thee,

el cual en otro tiempo te fue inútil, mas ahora a ti y a mí nos es útil;

12 w hom I did send again, and thou him (that is, my own bowels) receive,

el cual te vuelvo a enviar; tú pues, recíbele como a mí mismo.

13 w hom I did wish to retain to myself, that in thy behalf he might minister to me in the bonds of the good news,

Yo quisiera detenerle conmigo, para que en lugar de ti me sirviera en la prisión del Evangelio;

14 a nd apart from thy mind I willed to do nothing, that as of necessity thy good deed may not be, but of willingness,

mas nada quise hacer sin tu consejo, porque tu beneficio no fuera como de necesidad, sino voluntario.

15 f or perhaps because of this he did depart for an hour, that age-duringly thou mayest have him,

Porque quizás para esto se apartó de ti por algún tiempo, para que le vuelvas a tener para siempre;

16 n o more as a servant, but above a servant -- a brother beloved, especially to me, and how much more to thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord!

ya no como siervo, antes más que siervo, a saber como hermano amado, mayormente de mí, y cuánto más de ti, en la carne y en el Señor.

17 I f, then, with me thou hast fellowship, receive him as me,

Así que, si me tienes por compañero, recíbele como a mí.

18 a nd if he did hurt to thee, or doth owe anything, this to me be reckoning;

Y si en algo te dañó, o te debe, ponlo a mi cuenta.

19 I , Paul did write with my hand, I -- I will repay; that I may not say that also thyself, besides, to me thou dost owe.

Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi mano, yo lo pagaré; por no decirte que aun a ti mismo te me debes.

20 Y es, brother, may I have profit of thee in the Lord; refresh my bowels in the Lord;

Así, hermano, yo me goce de ti en el Señor; que recrees mi corazón en el Señor.

21 h aving been confident in thy obedience I did write to thee, having known that also above what I may say thou wilt do;

Te he escrito confiando en tu obediencia, sabiendo que aun harás más de lo que digo.

22 a nd at the same time also prepare for me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I shall be granted to you.

Y asimismo prepárame también alojamiento; porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os tengo de ser concedido.

23 S alute thee doth Epaphras, (my fellow-captive in Christ Jesus,)

Te saludan Epafras, mi compañero en la prisión por el Cristo Jesús.
