1 P aul, a called apostle of Jesus Christ, through the will of God, and Sosthenes the brother,

¶ Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesús, el Cristo por la voluntad de Dios; y el hermano Sóstenes,

2 t o the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place -- both theirs and ours:

a la Iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados santos, y a todos los que invocan el Nombre del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, en cualquier lugar, Señor de ellos y nuestro;

3 G race to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Gracia y paz tengáis de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesús el Cristo.

4 I give thanks to my God always concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Christ Jesus,

Gracias doy a mi Dios siempre por vosotros, por la gracia de Dios que os es dada en Cristo Jesús;

5 t hat in every thing ye were enriched in him, in all discourse and all knowledge,

que en todas las cosas sois enriquecidos en él, en toda palabra y en toda ciencia;

6 a ccording as the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

con lo cual el testimonio del Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros,

7 s o that ye are not behind in any gift, waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

de tal manera que nada os falte en ningún don, esperando la manifestación del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo;

8 w ho also shall confirm you unto the end -- unblamable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ;

el cual también os confirmará que permanezcáis sin pecado hasta el fin, hasta en el día de nuestro Señor, Jesucristo.

9 f aithful God, through whom ye were called to the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Fiel es Dios, por el cual sois llamados a la confraternidad de su Hijo, Jesús el Cristo, Señor nuestro.

10 A nd I call upon you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that the same thing ye may all say, and there may not be divisions among you, and ye may be perfected in the same mind, and in the same judgment,

¶ Todavía, hermanos, os ruego por el Nombre del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya entre vosotros divisiones, antes seáis perfectos, unidos en un mismo entendimiento y en un mismo parecer.

11 f or it was signified to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe, that contentions are among you;

Porque me ha sido declarado de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los que son de Cloé, que hay entre vosotros contiendas;

12 a nd I say this, that each one of you saith, `I, indeed, am of Paul' -- `and I of Apollos,' -- `and I of Cephas,' -- `and I of Christ.'

quiero decir, que cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo soy de Pablo; pues yo de Apolos; y yo de Cefas; y yo de Cristo.

13 H ath the Christ been divided? was Paul crucified for you? or to the name of Paul were ye baptized;

¿Está dividido el Cristo? ¿Fue colgado en el madero Pablo por vosotros? ¿O habéis sido bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

14 I give thanks to God that no one of you did I baptize, except Crispus and Gaius --

¶ Doy gracias a Dios, que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado, sino a Crispo y a Gayo;

15 t hat no one may say that to my own name I did baptize;

para que ninguno diga que habéis sido bautizados en mi nombre.

16 a nd I did baptize also Stephanas' household -- further, I have not known if I did baptize any other.

Y también bauticé la casa de Estéfanas; mas no sé si he bautizado algún otro.

17 F or Christ did not send me to baptize, but -- to proclaim good news; not in wisdom of discourse, that the cross of the Christ may not be made of none effect;

¶ Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio; no en sabiduría de palabras, para que no sea hecho vano el madero del Cristo.

18 f or the word of the cross to those indeed perishing is foolishness, and to us -- those being saved -- it is the power of God,

Porque la Palabra del madero a la verdad es locura a los que se pierden; mas a los que se salvan, es a decir, a nosotros, es potencia de Dios.

19 f or it hath been written, `I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought;'

Porque está escrito: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y reprobaré la inteligencia de los entendidos.

20 w here the wise? where the scribe? where a disputer of this age? did not God make foolish the wisdom of this world?

¿Qué es del sabio? ¿Qué del escriba? ¿Qué del filósofo de este siglo? ¿No ha enloquecido Dios la sabiduría de este mundo?

21 f or, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.

Porque en la sabiduría de Dios, por no haber el mundo conocido a Dios por sabiduría, agradó a Dios salvar a los creyentes por la locura de la predicación.

22 S ince also Jews ask a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,

Porque los judíos piden señales, y los griegos buscan sabiduría;

23 a lso we -- we preach Christ crucified, to Jews, indeed, a stumbling-block, and to Greeks foolishness,

pero nosotros predicamos a Cristo colgado en el madero, que es a los judíos ciertamente tropezadero, y a los gentiles locura;

24 a nd to those called -- both Jews and Greeks -- Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God,

pero a los llamados, así judíos como griegos, Cristo es potencia de Dios, y sabiduría de Dios.

25 b ecause the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men;

Porque lo loco de Dios es más sabio que los hombres; y lo flaco de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.

26 f or see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble;

Porque mirad, hermanos, vuestra vocación: que no sois muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles;

27 b ut the foolish things of the world did God choose, that the wise He may put to shame; and the weak things of the world did God choose that He may put to shame the strong;

antes lo que es la locura del mundo escogió Dios, para avergonzar a los sabios; y lo que es la flaqueza del mundo escogió Dios, para avergonzar lo fuerte;

28 a nd the base things of the world, and the things despised did God choose, and the things that are not, that the things that are He may make useless --

y lo vil del mundo y lo menospreciado escogió Dios; y lo que no es, para deshacer lo que es,

29 t hat no flesh may glory before Him;

para que ninguna carne se jacte en su presencia.

30 a nd of Him ye -- ye are in Christ Jesus, who became to us from God wisdom, righteousness also, and sanctification, and redemption,

De él sin embargo vosotros sois renacidos en Cristo Jesús, el cual nos es hecho de Dios sabiduría, y justicia, y santificación, y redención;

31 t hat, according as it hath been written, `He who is glorying -- in the Lord let him glory.'

para que, como está escrito: El que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.
