1 A nd we ask you, brethren, in regard to the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together unto him,

¶ Os rogamos, hermanos, en cuanto a la venida del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, y nuestro recogimiento a él,

2 t hat ye be not quickly shaken in mind, nor be troubled, neither through spirit, neither through word, neither through letters as through us, as that the day of Christ hath arrived;

que no os mováis fácilmente de vuestro sentimiento, ni os conturbéis ni por espíritu, ni por palabra, ni por carta como nuestra, como si el día del Señor estuviera cerca.

3 l et not any one deceive you in any manner, because -- if the falling away may not come first, and the man of sin be revealed -- the son of the destruction,

¶ No os engañe nadie en ninguna manera; porque no vendrá sin que venga antes la apostasía, y se manifieste el hombre de pecado, el hijo de perdición,

4 w ho is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God hath sat down, shewing himself off that he is God --.

oponiéndose, y levantándose contra todo lo que se llama Dios, o divinidad; tanto que se sienta en el templo de Dios como Dios, haciéndose parecer Dios.

5 D o ye not remember that, being yet with you, these things I said to you?

¿No os acordáis que cuando estaba con vosotros, os decía esto?

6 a nd now, what is keeping down ye have known, for his being revealed in his own time,

Y vosotros sabéis qué es lo que lo impide ahora, para que a su tiempo se manifieste.

7 f or the secret of the lawlessness doth already work, only he who is keeping down now -- till he may be out of the way,

Porque ya está obrando el misterio de iniquidad, solamente que el que ahora domina, dominará hasta que sea quitado;

8 a nd then shall be revealed the Lawless One, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the manifestation of his presence,

y entonces será manifestado aquel inicuo, al cual el Señor matará con el Espíritu de su boca, y con la claridad de su venida lo quitará:

9 w hose presence is according to the working of the Adversary, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders,

a aquel inicuo, el cual vendrá por operación de Satanás, con grande potencia, y señales, y milagros mentirosos,

10 a nd in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because the love of the truth they did not receive for their being saved,

y con todo engaño de iniquidad obrando en los que perecen; por cuanto no recibieron la caridad de la verdad para ser salvos.

11 a nd because of this shall God send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie,

Por tanto, pues, enviará Dios en ellos operación de error, para que crean a la mentira;

12 t hat they may be judged -- all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness.

para que sean condenados todos los que no creyeron a la verdad, antes consintieron a la iniquidad.

13 A nd we -- we ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved by the Lord, that God did choose you from the beginning to salvation, in sanctification of the Spirit, and belief of the truth,

¶ Pero nosotros debemos dar siempre gracias a Dios por vosotros, hermanos amados del Señor, de que Dios os haya escogido por primicias de salud, por la santificación del Espíritu y la fe en la verdad;

14 t o which He did call you through our good news, to the acquiring of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ;

a lo cual os llamó por nuestro Evangelio, para alcanzar la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesús el Cristo.

15 s o, then, brethren, stand ye fast, and hold the deliverances that ye were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter;

Así que, hermanos, estad firmes, y retened la doctrina que habéis aprendido, sea por palabra, o por carta nuestra.

16 a nd may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who did love us, and did give comfort age-during, and good hope in grace,

¶ Y el mismo Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, y Dios y Padre nuestro, el cual nos amó, y nos dio la consolación eterna, y la buena esperanza por gracia,

17 c omfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.

consuele vuestros corazones, y os confirme en toda buena palabra y obra.
