1 A nd it cometh to pass afterwards, that Absalom prepareth for himself a chariot, and horses, and fifty men are running before him;

¶ Aconteció después de esto, que Absalón se hizo de carros y gente de a caballo, y cincuenta que corrieran delante de él.

2 a nd Absalom hath risen early, and stood by the side of the way of the gate, and it cometh to pass, every man who hath a pleading to come unto the king for judgment, that Absalom calleth unto him, and saith, `Of what city thou?' and he saith, `Of one of the tribes of Israel thy servant.'

Y se levantaba Absalón de mañana, y se ponía a un lado del camino de la puerta; y a cualquiera que tenía pleito y venía al rey a juicio, Absalón le llamaba a sí, y le decía: ¿De qué ciudad eres? Y él respondía: Tu siervo es de una de las tribus de Israel.

3 A nd Absalom saith unto him, `See, thy matters good and straightforward -- and there is none hearkening to thee from the king.'

Entonces Absalón le decía: Mira, tus palabras son buenas y justas; mas no tienes quien te oiga por el rey.

4 A nd Absalom saith, `Who doth make me a judge in the land, that unto me doth come every man who hath a plea and judgment? -- then I have declared him righteous.'

Y decía Absalón: ¡Quién me pusiera por juez en la tierra, para que vinieran a mí todos los que tienen pleito o negocio, que yo les haría justicia!

5 A nd it hath come to pass, in the drawing nearing of any one to bow himself to him, that he hath put forth his hand, and laid hold on him, and given a kiss to him;

Y acontecía que, cuando alguno se llegaba para inclinarse a él, él extendía su mano, y lo tomaba, y lo besaba.

6 a nd Absalom doth according to this thing to all Israel who come in for judgment unto the king, and Absalom stealeth the heart of the men of Israel.

Y de esta manera hacía con todo Israel que venía al rey a juicio; y así robaba Absalón el corazón de los de Israel.

7 A nd it cometh to pass, at the end of forty years, that Absalom saith unto the king, `Let me go, I pray thee, and I complete my vow, that I vowed to Jehovah in Hebron,

¶ Y al finalizar un periodo predeterminado de cuarenta años aconteció que Absalón dijo al rey: Yo te ruego me permitas que vaya a Hebrón, a pagar mi voto que he prometido al SEÑOR.

8 f or a vow hath thy servant vowed in my dwelling in Geshur, in Aram, saying, If Jehovah doth certainly bring me back to Jerusalem, then I have served Jehovah.'

Porque tu siervo hizo voto cuando estaba en Gesur en Siria, diciendo: Si el SEÑOR me volviere a Jerusalén, yo serviré al SEÑOR.

9 A nd the king saith to him, `Go in peace;' and he riseth and goeth to Hebron,

Y el rey dijo: Ve en paz. Y él se levantó, y se fue a Hebrón.

10 a nd Absalom sendeth spies through all the tribes of Israel, saying, `At your hearing the voice of the trumpet, then ye have said, Absalom hath reigned in Hebron.'

Pero envió Absalón espías por todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: Cuando oyereis el sonido del shofar, diréis: Absalón reina en Hebrón.

11 A nd with Absalom have gone two hundred men, out of Jerusalem, invited ones, and they are going in their simplicity, and have not known anything;

Y fueron con Absalón doscientos hombres de Jerusalén por él convidados, los cuales iban en su integridad, sin saber nada.

12 a nd Absalom sendeth Ahithophel the Gilonite, a counsellor of David, out of his city, out of Gilo, in his sacrificing sacrifices; and the conspiracy is strong, and the people are going and increasing with Absalom.

También envió Absalón por Ahitofel, el gilonita, del consejo de David, a Gilo su ciudad, mientras hacía sus sacrificios. Y fue hecha una grande conjuración, y el pueblo con Absalón se iba aumentando.

13 A nd he who is declaring tidings cometh in unto David, saying, `The heart of the men of Israel hath been after Absalom.'

¶ Y vino el aviso a David, diciendo: El corazón del varón de Israel se va tras Absalón.

14 A nd David saith to all his servants who with him in Jerusalem, `Rise, and we flee, for we have no escape from the face of Absalom; haste to go, lest he hasten, and have overtaken us, and forced on us evil, and smitten the city by the mouth of the sword.'

Entonces David dijo a todos sus siervos que estaban con él en Jerusalén: Levantaos, y huyamos, porque no podremos escapar de otra manera delante de Absalón; daos prisa a andar, no sea que apresurándose él nos alcance, y arroje el mal sobre nosotros, y hiera la ciudad a filo de espada.

15 A nd the servants of the king say unto the king, `According to all that my lord the king chooseth -- lo, thy servants.'

Y los siervos del rey dijeron al rey: He aquí, tus siervos están listos a todo lo que nuestro señor el rey eligiere.

16 A nd the king goeth out, and all his household at his feet, and the king leaveth ten women -- concubines -- to keep the house.

El rey entonces salió, con toda su casa a pie; y dejó el rey diez mujeres concubinas para que guardaran la casa.

17 A nd the king goeth out, and all the people at his feet, and they stand still at the farthest off house.

Salió, pues, el rey con todo el pueblo a pie, y se pararon en un lugar distante.

18 A nd all his servants are passing on at his side, and all the Cherethite, and all the Pelethite, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who came at his feet from Gath, are passing on at the front of the king.

Y todos sus siervos pasaban a su lado, y todos los cereteos y peleteos; y todos los geteos, seiscientos hombres que habían venido a pie con él desde Gat, iban delante del rey.

19 A nd the king saith unto Ittai the Gittite, `Why dost thou go -- thou also -- with us? turn back -- and abide with the king, for thou a stranger, and also an exile thou -- to thy place.

Y dijo el rey a Itai, el geteo: ¿Para qué vienes tú también con nosotros? Vuélvete y quédate con el rey; porque tú eres extranjero, y desterrado también de tu lugar.

20 Y esterday thy coming in, and to-day I move thee to go with us, and I am going on that which I am going! -- turn back, and take back thy brethren with thee, -- kindness and truth.'

¿Ayer viniste, y he de hacer hoy que mudes lugar para ir con nosotros? Yo voy como voy; tú vuélvete, y haz volver a tus hermanos; en ti hay misericordia y verdad.

21 A nd Ittai answereth the king and saith, `Jehovah liveth, and my lord the king liveth, surely in the place where my lord the king is -- if for death, if for life, surely there is thy servant.'

Y respondió Itai al rey, diciendo: Vive Dios, y vive mi señor el rey, que, o para muerte o para vida, donde mi señor el rey estuviere, allí estará también tu siervo.

22 A nd David saith unto Ittai, `Go and pass over;' and Ittai the Gittite passeth over, and all his men, and all the infants who with him.

Entonces David dijo a Itai: Ven pues, y pasa. Y pasó Itai, el geteo, y todos sus varones, y todos sus pequeños.

23 A nd all the land are weeping -- a great voice, and all the people are passing over; and the king is passing over through the brook Kidron, and all the people are passing over on the front of the way of the wilderness;

Y todos los de la tierra lloraron en alta voz; y pasó todo el pueblo el arroyo de Cedrón; y después pasó el rey, y todo el pueblo pasó, al camino que va al desierto.

24 a nd lo, also Zadok, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God, and they make the ark of God firm, and Abiathar goeth up, till the completion of all the people to pass over out of the city.

¶ Y he aquí, también iba Sadoc, y con él todos los levitas que llevaban el arca del pacto de Dios; y asentaron el arca del pacto de Dios. Y subió Abiatar después que hubo acabado de salir de la ciudad todo el pueblo.

25 A nd the king saith to Zadok, `Take back the ark of God to the city; if I find grace in the eyes of Jehovah, then He hath brought me back, and shewn me it and His habitation;

Pero dijo el rey a Sadoc: Vuelve el arca de Dios a la ciudad; que si yo hallare gracia en los ojos del SEÑOR, él me volverá, y me hará ver a ella y a su tabernáculo.

26 a nd if thus He say, I have not delighted in thee; here I, He doth to me as good in His eyes.'

Y si dijere: No me agradas; aquí estoy, haga de mí lo que bien le pareciere.

27 A nd the king saith unto Zadok the priest, `Art thou a seer? turn back to the city in peace, and Ahimaaz thy son, and Jonathan son of Abiathar, your two sons with you;

Dijo aún el rey a Sadoc sacerdote: ¿No eres tú el vidente? Vuélvete en paz a la ciudad; y con vosotros vuestros dos hijos, tu hijo Ahimaas, y Jonatán hijo de Abiatar.

28 s ee ye, I am tarrying in the plains of the wilderness till the coming in of a word from you to declare to me.'

Mirad, yo me detendré en los campos del desierto, hasta que venga respuesta de vosotros que me dé aviso.

29 A nd Zadok taketh back -- and Abiathar -- the ark of God to Jerusalem, and they abide there.

Entonces Sadoc y Abiatar volvieron el arca de Dios a Jerusalén; y se estuvieron allá.

30 A nd David is going up in the ascent of the olives, going up and weeping, and he hath the head covered, and he is going barefooted, and all the people who with him have covered each his head, and have gone up, going up and weeping;

Y David subió la cuesta de las olivas; y la subió llorando, llevando la cabeza cubierta, y los pies descalzos. También todo el pueblo que tenía consigo cubrió cada uno su cabeza, y lloraban mientras subían.

31 a nd David declared, saying, `Ahithophel among the conspirators with Absalom;' and David saith, `Make foolish, I pray Thee, the counsel of Ahithophel, O Jehovah.'

¶ Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: Ahitofel también está con los que conspiraron con Absalón. Entonces dijo David: Enloquece ahora, oh SEÑOR, el consejo de Ahitofel.

32 A nd it cometh to pass, David hath come unto the top, where he boweth himself to God, and lo, to meet him Hushai the Archite, his coat rent, and earth on his head;

Y cuando David llegó a la cumbre del monte para adorar allí a Dios, he aquí Husai, el arquita, que le salió al encuentro, trayendo rota su ropa, y tierra sobre su cabeza.

33 a nd David saith to him, `If thou hast passed on with me then thou hast been on me for a burden,

Y le dijo David: Si pasares conmigo, me serás de carga;

34 a nd if to the city thou dost turn back, and hast said to Absalom, Thy servant I am, O king; servant of thy father I also hitherto, and now, I also thy servant; then thou hast made void for me the counsel of Ahithophel;

mas si volvieres a la ciudad, y dijeres a Absalón: Rey, yo seré tu siervo; como hasta aquí he sido siervo de tu padre, así seré ahora siervo tuyo, entonces tú disiparás el consejo de Ahitofel.

35 a nd are there not with thee there Zadok and Abiathar the priests? and it hath been, the whole of the matter that thou hearest from the house of the king thou dost declare to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests.

¿No estarán allí contigo Sadoc y Abiatar sacerdotes? Por tanto, todo lo que oyeres en la casa del rey, darás aviso de ello a Sadoc y a Abiatar sacerdotes.

36 L o, there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz to Zadok, and Jonathan to Abiathar, and ye have sent by their hand unto me anything that ye hear.'

Y he aquí que están con ellos sus dos hijos, Ahimaas el de Sadoc, y Jonatán el de Abiatar; por mano de ellos me enviaréis aviso de todo lo que oyereis.

37 A nd Hushai, David's friend, cometh in to the city, and Absalom cometh in to Jerusalem.

Así se vino Husai compañero especial de David a la ciudad; y Absalón entró en Jerusalén.
