1 A nd after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra son of Seraiah, son of Azariah, son of Hilkiah,

Pasadas estas cosas, en el reinado de Artajerjes rey de Persia, Esdras, hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,

2 s on of Shallum, son of Zadok, son of Ahitub,

hijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ahitob,

3 s on of Amariah, son of Azariah, son of Meraioth,

hijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Meraiot,

4 s on of Zerahiah, son of Uzzi, son of Bukki,

hijo de Zeraías, hijo de Uzi, hijo de Buqui,

5 s on of Abishua, son of Phinehas, son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the head priest;

hijo de Abisúa, hijo de Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, primer sacerdote.

6 E zra himself hath come up from Babylon, and he a scribe ready in the law of Moses, that Jehovah God of Israel gave, and the king giveth to him -- according to the hand of Jehovah his God upon him -- all his request.

Este Esdras subió de Babilonia, el cual era escriba diligente en la ley de Moisés, que dio el SEÑOR Dios de Israel; y le concedió el rey, según la mano del SEÑOR su Dios sobre él, todo lo que pidió.

7 A nd there go up of the sons of Israel, and of the priests, and the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers, and the Nethinim, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes the king.

Y subieron con él a Jerusalén de los hijos de Israel, y de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros, y netineos, en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes.

8 A nd he cometh in to Jerusalem in the fifth month, that the seventh year of the king,

Y llegó a Jerusalén en el mes quinto, el año séptimo del rey.

9 f or on the first of the month he hath founded the ascent from Babylon, and on the first of the fifth month he hath come in unto Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him,

Porque el primero del primer mes fue el principio de la partida de Babilonia, y al primero del mes quinto llegó a Jerusalén, según la buena mano de su Dios sobre él.

10 f or Ezra hath prepared his heart to seek the law of Jehovah, and to do, and to teach in Israel statute and judgment.

Porque Esdras había preparado su corazón para buscar la ley del SEÑOR, y para hacer y para enseñar a Israel sus estatutos y juicios.

11 A nd this a copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of Jehovah, and of His statutes on Israel:

Y éste es el traslado de la carta que dio el rey Artajerjes a Esdras, sacerdote escriba; escriba de las palabras mandadas del SEÑOR, y de sus estatutos sobre Israel:

12 ` Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, a perfect scribe of the law of the God of heaven, and at such a time:

Artajerjes, rey de los reyes, a Esdras sacerdote, escriba perfecto de la ley del Dios del cielo y a Cheenet:

13 B y me hath been made a decree that every one who is willing, in my kingdom, of the people of Israel and of its priests and Levites, to go to Jerusalem with thee, doth go;

Por mí es dado mandamiento, que cualquiera en mi reino, del pueblo de Israel y de sus sacerdotes y levitas que quisiera por su libre albedrío ir contigo a Jerusalén, vaya.

14 b ecause that from the king and his seven counsellors thou art sent, to inquire concerning Judah and concerning Jerusalem, with the law of God that in thy hand,

Porque de parte del rey y de sus siete consultores eres enviado a inquirir a Judea y a Jerusalén, conforme a la ley de tu Dios que está en tu mano;

15 a nd to carry silver and gold that the king and his counsellors willingly offered to the God of Israel, whose tabernacle in Jerusalem,

y a llevar la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consultores voluntariamente ofrecen al Dios de Israel, cuya morada está en Jerusalén;

16 a nd all the silver and gold that thou findest in all the province of Babylon, with the free-will offerings of the people, and of the priests, offering willingly, for the house of their God that in Jerusalem,

y toda la plata y el oro que hallares en toda la provincia de Babilonia, con las ofrendas voluntarias del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, que de su voluntad ofrecieren para la casa de su Dios que está en Jerusalén.

17 t herefore thou dost speedily buy with this money, bullocks, rams, lambs, and their presents, and their libations, and dost bring them near to the altar of the house of your God that in Jerusalem,

Por tanto con diligencia comprarás con esta plata becerros, carneros, corderos, con sus presentes y sus libaciones, y los ofrecerás sobre el altar de la casa de vuestro Dios que está en Jerusalén.

18 a nd that which to thee and to thy brethren is good to do with the rest of the silver and gold, according to the will of your God ye do.'

Y lo que tú y tus hermanos quisieren hacer con la otra plata y oro, hacedlo conforme a la voluntad de vuestro Dios.

19 ` And the vessels that are given to thee, for the service of the house of thy God, make perfect before the God of Jerusalem;

Y los vasos que te son entregados para el servicio de la Casa de tu Dios, los restituirás delante de Dios en Jerusalén.

20 a nd the rest of the needful things of the house of thy God, that it falleth to thee to give, thou dost give from the treasure-house of the king.

Y lo demás necesario para la Casa de tu Dios que te fuere menester dar, lo darás de la casa de los tesoros del rey.

21 ` And by me -- I Artaxerxes the king -- is made a decree to all treasurers who beyond the river, that all that Ezra the priest, scribe of the law of the God of heaven, doth ask of you, be done speedily:

Y por mí el rey Artajerjes es dado mandamiento a todos los tesoreros que están al otro lado del río, que todo lo que os demandare Esdras sacerdote, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, se le conceda luego,

22 U nto silver a hundred talents, and unto wheat a hundred cors, and unto wine a hundred baths, and unto oil a hundred baths, and salt without reckoning;

hasta cien talentos de plata, hasta cien coros de trigo, hasta cien batos de vino, hasta cien batos de aceite; y sal sin tasa.

23 a ll that by the decree of the God of heaven, let be done diligently for the house of the God of heaven; for why is there wrath against the kingdom of the king and his sons?

Todo lo que es mandado por el Dios del cielo, sea hecho prestamente para la Casa del Dios del cielo; pues, ¿por qué habría de ser su ira contra el reino del rey y de sus hijos?

24 ` And to you we are making known, that upon any of the priests and Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinim, and servants of the house of God, tribute and custom there is no authority to lift up.

Y a vosotros os hacemos saber, que a todos los sacerdotes y levitas, cantores, porteros, netineos y ministros de la casa de este Dios, ninguno pueda imponerles tributo, o impuesto, o renta.

25 ` And thou, Ezra, according to the wisdom of thy God, that in thy hand, appoint magistrates and judges who may be judges to all the people who are beyond the river, to all knowing the law of thy God, and he who hath not known ye cause to know;

Y tú, Esdras, conforme a la sabiduría de tu Dios que tienes, pon por jueces y gobernadores, que gobiernen a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, a todos los que tienen noticia de las leyes de tu Dios; y al que no la tuviere le enseñaréis.

26 a nd any who doth not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, speedily is judgment done upon him, whether to death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of riches, and to bonds.'

Y cualquiera que no hiciere la ley de tu Dios, y la ley del rey, prestamente sea juzgado, o a muerte, o a desarraigo, o a pena de la hacienda, o a prisión.

27 B lessed Jehovah, God of our fathers, who hath given such a thing as this in the heart of the king, to beautify the house of Jehovah that in Jerusalem,

Bendito sea el SEÑOR, Dios de nuestros padres, que puso tal cosa en el corazón del rey, para honrar la Casa del SEÑOR que está en Jerusalén.

28 a nd unto me hath stretched out kindness before the king and his counsellors, and before all the mighty heads of the king: and I have strengthened myself as the hand of Jehovah my God upon me, and I gather out of Israel heads to go up with me.

Y sobre mí extendió misericordia delante del rey y de sus consultores, y de todos los príncipes poderosos del rey. Y yo, confortado según la mano de mi Dios sobre mí, junté los principales de Israel para que subieren conmigo.
