1 A nd it cometh to pass, when all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan, that Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

¶ Y cuando toda la gente hubo acabado de pasar el Jordán, el SEÑOR habló a Josué, diciendo:

2 ` Take for you out of the people twelve men, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

Tomad del pueblo doce varones, de cada tribu uno,

3 a nd command ye them, saying, Take up for you from this, from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and ye have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which ye lodge to-night.'

y mandadles, diciendo: Tomaos de aquí del medio del Jordán, del lugar donde están firmes los pies de los sacerdotes, doce piedras, las cuales pasaréis con vosotros, y las asentaréis en el alojamiento donde habéis de tener la noche.

4 A nd Joshua calleth unto the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

Entonces Josué llamó doce varones, los cuales él había preparado de entre los hijos de Israel, de cada tribu uno;

5 a nd Joshua saith to them, `Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God unto the midst of the Jordan and lift up for you each, one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,

y les dijo Josué: Pasad delante del arca del SEÑOR vuestro Dios por en medio del Jordán; y cada uno de vosotros tome una piedra sobre su hombro, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel;

6 s o that this is a sign in your midst, when your children ask hereafter, saying, What these stones to you?

para que esto sea señal entre vosotros; y cuando vuestros hijos preguntaren a sus padres mañana, diciendo: ¿Qué os significan estas piedras?

7 t hat ye have said to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off, at the presence of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; in its passing over into the Jordan were the waters of the Jordan cut off; and these stones have been for a memorial to the sons of Israel -- to the age.'

Les responderéis: Que las aguas del Jordán fueron cortadas delante del arca del pacto del SEÑOR cuando ella pasó el Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se cortaron; y estas piedras serán por memoria a los hijos de Israel para siempre.

8 A nd the sons of Israel do so as Joshua commanded, and take up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah hath spoken unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and remove them over with them unto the lodging-place, and place them there,

Y los hijos de Israel lo hicieron así como Josué les mandó; que levantaron doce piedras en medio del Jordán, como el SEÑOR lo había dicho a Josué, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, y las pasaron consigo al alojamiento, y las asentaron allí.

9 e ven the twelve stones hath Joshua raised up out of the midst of the Jordan, the place of the standing of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, and they are there unto this day.

Josué también levantó doce piedras en medio del Jordán, en el lugar donde estuvieron los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto; y han estado allí hasta hoy.

10 A nd the priests bearing the ark are standing in the midst of the Jordan till the completion of the whole thing which Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua, and the people haste and pass over.

¶ Y los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca se pararon en medio del Jordán, hasta tanto que se acabó todo lo que el SEÑOR había mandado a Josué que hablara al pueblo, conforme a todas las cosas que Moisés había mandado a Josué; y el pueblo se dio prisa y pasó.

11 A nd it cometh to pass when all the people have completed to pass over, that the ark of Jehovah passeth over, and the priests, in the presence of the people;

Y cuando todo el pueblo acabó de pasar, pasó también el arca del SEÑOR, y los sacerdotes, en presencia del pueblo.

12 a nd the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, pass over, by fifties, before the sons of Israel, as Moses had spoken unto them;

También los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, pasaron armados delante de los hijos de Israel, según Moisés les había dicho.

13 a bout forty thousand, armed ones of the host, passed over before Jehovah for battle, unto the plains of Jericho.

Como cuarenta mil hombres armados a punto pasaron hacia la campiña de Jericó delante del SEÑOR a la guerra.

14 O n that day hath Jehovah made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they reverence him, as they reverenced Moses, all days of his life.

En aquel día el SEÑOR engrandeció a Josué en ojos de todo Israel; y le temieron, como habían temido a Moisés, todos los días de su vida.

15 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

Y el SEÑOR habló a Josué, diciendo:

16 ` Command the priests bearing the ark of the testimony, and they come up out of the Jordan.'

Manda a los sacerdotes que llevan el arca del testimonio, que suban del Jordán.

17 A nd Joshua commandeth the priests, saying, `Come ye up out of the Jordan.'

Y Josué mandó a los sacerdotes, diciendo: Subid del Jordán.

18 A nd it cometh to pass, in the coming up of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the midst of the Jordan -- the soles of the feet of the priests have been drawn up into the dry ground -- and the waters of the Jordan turn back to their place, and go as heretofore over all its banks.

Y aconteció que cuando los sacerdotes que llevaban el arca del pacto del SEÑOR, subieron de en medio del Jordán, y las plantas de los pies de los sacerdotes estuvieron en seco, las aguas del Jordán se volvieron a su lugar, corriendo como antes sobre todos sus bordes.

19 A nd the people have come up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity east of Jericho;

Y el pueblo subió del Jordán el diez del mes primero, y asentaron el campamento en Gilgal, al lado oriental de Jericó.

20 a nd these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, hath Joshua raised up in Gilgal.

¶ Y Josué erigió en Gilgal las doce piedras que habían traído del Jordán.

21 A nd he speaketh unto the sons of Israel, saying, `When your sons ask their fathers hereafter, saying, What these stones?

Y habló a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: Cuando mañana preguntaren vuestros hijos a sus padres, y dijeren: ¿Qué os significan estas piedras?

22 t hen ye have caused your sons to know, saying, On dry land Israel passed over this Jordan;

Declararéis a vuestros hijos, diciendo: Israel pasó en seco por este Jordán.

23 b ecause Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan at your presence, till your passing over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea which He dried up at our presence till our passing over;

Porque el SEÑOR vuestro Dios secó las aguas del Jordán delante de vosotros, hasta que pasasteis, a la manera que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios lo había hecho en el mar Bermejo, al cual secó delante de nosotros hasta que pasamos;

24 s o that all the people of the land do know the hand of Jehovah that it strong, so that ye have reverenced Jehovah your God all the days.'

para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan la mano del SEÑOR, que es fuerte; para que temáis al SEÑOR vuestro Dios todos los días.
