1 A nd it cometh to pass, when all the nation hath completed to pass over the Jordan, that Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

Cuando toda la gente acabó de pasar el Jordán, Jehová habló a Josué y le dijo:

2 ` Take for you out of the people twelve men, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

«Tomad del pueblo doce hombres, uno por cada tribu,

3 a nd command ye them, saying, Take up for you from this, from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and ye have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which ye lodge to-night.'

y dadles esta orden: “Tomad de aquí, de en medio del Jordán, del lugar donde han puesto sus pies los sacerdotes, doce piedras, las cuales llevaréis con vosotros, y las depositaréis en el lugar donde habéis de pasar la noche.”»

4 A nd Joshua calleth unto the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man -- one man out of a tribe;

Entonces Josué llamó a los doce hombres que él había designado entre los hijos de Israel, uno por cada tribu.

5 a nd Joshua saith to them, `Pass over before the ark of Jehovah your God unto the midst of the Jordan and lift up for you each, one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,

Y les dijo Josué: «Pasad ante el Arca de Jehová, vuestro Dios, hasta el medio del Jordán, y cada uno de vosotros tome una piedra sobre su hombro, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel,

6 s o that this is a sign in your midst, when your children ask hereafter, saying, What these stones to you?

para que esto quede como una señal entre vosotros. Y cuando vuestros hijos pregunten a sus padres mañana: “¿Qué significan estas piedras?”,

7 t hat ye have said to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off, at the presence of the ark of the covenant of Jehovah; in its passing over into the Jordan were the waters of the Jordan cut off; and these stones have been for a memorial to the sons of Israel -- to the age.'

les responderéis: “Las aguas del Jordán fueron divididas delante del Arca del pacto de Jehová; cuando ella pasó el Jordán, las aguas del Jordán se dividieron, y estas piedras servirán de monumento conmemorativo a los hijos de Israel para siempre.”»

8 A nd the sons of Israel do so as Joshua commanded, and take up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as Jehovah hath spoken unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and remove them over with them unto the lodging-place, and place them there,

Los hijos de Israel hicieron tal como Josué les mandó: tomaron doce piedras de en medio del Jordán, como Jehová lo había dicho a Josué, conforme al número de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, las llevaron al lugar donde acamparon y las depositaron allí.

9 e ven the twelve stones hath Joshua raised up out of the midst of the Jordan, the place of the standing of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant, and they are there unto this day.

Josué también levantó doce piedras en medio del Jordán, en el lugar donde estuvieron los pies de los sacerdotes que llevaban el Arca del pacto, y allí han estado hasta hoy.

10 A nd the priests bearing the ark are standing in the midst of the Jordan till the completion of the whole thing which Jehovah commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua, and the people haste and pass over.

Los sacerdotes que llevaban el Arca se pararon en medio del Jordán hasta que se hizo todo lo que Jehová había mandado a Josué que dijera al pueblo —conforme a todas las cosas que Moisés había mandado a Josué—, y el pueblo se dio prisa y pasó.

11 A nd it cometh to pass when all the people have completed to pass over, that the ark of Jehovah passeth over, and the priests, in the presence of the people;

Cuando todo el pueblo acabó de pasar, también pasó el Arca de Jehová, y los sacerdotes iban a la cabeza del pueblo.

12 a nd the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, pass over, by fifties, before the sons of Israel, as Moses had spoken unto them;

También los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés pasaron armados delante de los hijos de Israel, según Moisés les había dicho;

13 a bout forty thousand, armed ones of the host, passed over before Jehovah for battle, unto the plains of Jericho.

como cuarenta mil hombres armados, listos para la guerra, pasaron hacia la llanura de Jericó delante de Jehová.

14 O n that day hath Jehovah made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they reverence him, as they reverenced Moses, all days of his life.

En aquel día Jehová engrandeció a Josué a los ojos de todo Israel. Y le temieron como habían temido a Moisés durante toda su vida.

15 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Joshua, saying,

Luego Jehová habló a Josué y le dijo:

16 ` Command the priests bearing the ark of the testimony, and they come up out of the Jordan.'

«Manda a los sacerdotes que llevan el Arca del testimonio que salgan del Jordán.»

17 A nd Joshua commandeth the priests, saying, `Come ye up out of the Jordan.'

Entonces Josué ordenó a los sacerdotes: «Salid del Jordán.»

18 A nd it cometh to pass, in the coming up of the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of Jehovah out of the midst of the Jordan -- the soles of the feet of the priests have been drawn up into the dry ground -- and the waters of the Jordan turn back to their place, and go as heretofore over all its banks.

Y aconteció que cuando los sacerdotes que llevaban el Arca del pacto de Jehová salieron de en medio del Jordán, y las plantas de los pies de los sacerdotes estuvieron en lugar seco, las aguas del Jordán volvieron a su lugar y corrieron como antes, sobre todos sus bordes.

19 A nd the people have come up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity east of Jericho;

El pueblo partió del Jordán el día diez del primer mes y acamparon en Gilgal, al oriente de Jericó.

20 a nd these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, hath Joshua raised up in Gilgal.

Josué erigió en Gilgal las doce piedras que habían traído del Jordán.

21 A nd he speaketh unto the sons of Israel, saying, `When your sons ask their fathers hereafter, saying, What these stones?

Y dijo a los hijos de Israel: «Cuando el día de mañana os pregunten vuestros hijos: “¿Qué significan estas piedras?”,

22 t hen ye have caused your sons to know, saying, On dry land Israel passed over this Jordan;

diréis a vuestros hijos: “Israel pasó en seco por este Jordán,

23 b ecause Jehovah your God dried up the waters of the Jordan at your presence, till your passing over, as Jehovah your God did to the Red Sea which He dried up at our presence till our passing over;

porque Jehová, vuestro Dios, secó las aguas del Jordán delante de vosotros, hasta que pasasteis, de la misma manera que Jehová, vuestro Dios, había hecho en el Mar Rojo, el cual secó delante de nosotros hasta que pasamos,

24 s o that all the people of the land do know the hand of Jehovah that it strong, so that ye have reverenced Jehovah your God all the days.'

para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan que la mano de Jehová es poderosa, y para que temáis a Jehová, vuestro Dios, todos los días.”»
