1 A nd the youth Samuel is serving Jehovah before Eli, and the word of Jehovah hath been precious in those days -- there is no vision broken forth.

El joven Samuel servía a Jehová en presencia de Elí; en aquellos días escaseaba la palabra de Jehová y no eran frecuentes las visiones.

2 A nd it cometh to pass, at that time, that Eli is lying down in his place, and his eyes have begun to be dim -- he is not able to see.

Un día estaba Elí acostado en su aposento, cuando sus ojos comenzaban a oscurecerse de modo que no podía ver.

3 A nd the lamp of God is not yet extinguished, and Samuel is lying down in the temple of Jehovah, where the ark of God,

Samuel estaba durmiendo en el templo de Jehová, donde se encontraba el Arca de Dios; y antes que la lámpara de Dios fuera apagada,

4 a nd Jehovah calleth unto Samuel, and he saith, `Here I.'

Jehová llamó a Samuel. Éste respondió: «Heme aquí.»

5 A nd he runneth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, `I called not; turn back, lie down;' and he goeth and lieth down.

Y corriendo luego adonde estaba Elí, dijo: —Heme aquí; ¿para qué me llamaste? —Yo no he llamado; vuelve y acuéstate —respondió Elí. Él se fue y se acostó.

6 A nd Jehovah addeth to call again Samuel, and Samuel riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and he saith, `I have not called, my son, turn back, lie down.'

Jehová volvió a llamar a Samuel. Se levantó Samuel, vino adonde estaba Elí y le dijo: —Heme aquí; ¿para qué me has llamado? —Hijo mío, yo no he llamado; vuelve y acuéstate —le respondió Elí.

7 A nd Samuel hath not yet known Jehovah, and the word of Jehovah is not yet revealed unto him.

Samuel no había conocido aún a Jehová, ni la palabra de Jehová le había sido revelada.

8 A nd Jehovah addeth to call Samuel the third time, and he riseth and goeth unto Eli, and saith, `Here I, for thou hast called for me;' and Eli understandeth that Jehovah is calling to the youth.

Jehová, pues, llamó por tercera vez a Samuel. Y él se levantó, vino ante Elí, y le dijo: —Heme aquí; ¿para qué me has llamado? Entonces entendió Elí que Jehová llamaba al joven,

9 A nd Eli saith to Samuel, `Go, lie down, and it hath been, if He doth call unto thee, that thou hast said, Speak, Jehovah, for Thy servant is hearing;' and Samuel goeth and lieth down in his place.

y le dijo: —Ve y acuéstate; y si te llama, di: “Habla, Jehová, que tu siervo escucha.” Así se fue Samuel y se acostó en su lugar.

10 A nd Jehovah cometh, and stationeth Himself, and calleth as time by time, `Samuel, Samuel;' and Samuel saith, `Speak, for Thy servant if hearing.'

Vino Jehová, se paró y llamó como las otras veces: —¡Samuel, Samuel! Entonces Samuel dijo: —Habla, que tu siervo escucha.

11 A nd Jehovah saith unto Samuel, `Lo, I am doing a thing in Israel, at which the two ears of every one hearing it do tingle.

Dijo Jehová a Samuel: —Yo haré una cosa en Israel que a quien la oiga le zumbarán ambos oídos.

12 I n that day I establish unto Eli all that I have spoken unto his house, beginning and completing;

Aquel día yo cumpliré contra Elí todas las cosas que he dicho sobre su casa, desde el principio hasta el fin.

13 a nd I have declared to him that I am judging his house -- to the age, for the iniquity which he hath known, for his sons are making themselves vile, and he hath not restrained them,

Y le mostraré que yo juzgaré su casa para siempre, por la iniquidad que él sabe; porque sus hijos han blasfemado contra Dios y él no se lo ha impedido.

14 a nd therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli: the iniquity of the house of Eli is not atoned for, by sacrifice, and by offering -- unto the age.'

Por tanto, yo he jurado a la casa de Elí que la iniquidad de su casa no será expiada jamás, ni con sacrificios ni con ofrendas.

15 A nd Samuel lieth till the morning, and openeth the doors of the house of Jehovah, and Samuel is afraid of declaring the vision unto Eli.

Samuel se quedó acostado hasta la mañana, y después abrió las puertas de la casa de Jehová; pero temía contar la visión a Elí.

16 A nd Eli calleth Samuel, and saith, `Samuel, my son;' and he saith, `Here I.'

Entonces Elí lo llamó y le dijo: —Samuel, hijo mío. —Heme aquí —respondió él.

17 A nd he saith, `What the word which He hath spoken unto thee? I pray thee, hide it not from me; so doth God do to thee, and so doth He add, if thou hidest from me a word of all the words that He hath spoken unto thee.'

Elí dijo: —¿Qué te ha dicho? Te ruego que no me lo ocultes. Traiga Dios sobre ti el peor de los castigos, si me ocultas una palabra de todo lo que habló contigo.

18 A nd Samuel declareth to him the whole of the words, and hath not hid from him; and he saith, `It Jehovah; that which is good in His eyes He doth.'

Entonces Samuel se lo manifestó todo, sin ocultarle nada. Y Elí dijo: —Él es Jehová; que haga lo que mejor le parezca.

19 A nd Samuel groweth up, and Jehovah hath been with him, and hath not let fall any of his words to the earth;

Samuel crecía y Jehová estaba con él; y no dejó sin cumplir ninguna de sus palabras.

20 a nd all Israel know, from Dan even unto Beer-Sheba, that Samuel is established for a prophet to Jehovah.

Todo Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, supo que Samuel era fiel profeta de Jehová.

21 A nd Jehovah addeth to appear in Shiloh, for Jehovah hath been revealed unto Samuel, in Shiloh, by the word of Jehovah.

Y Jehová volvió a aparecer en Silo, porque en Silo se manifestaba a Samuel la palabra de Jehová.
