1 A nd Mordecai hath known all that hath been done, and Mordecai rendeth his garments, and putteth on sackcloth and ashes, and goeth forth into the midst of the city and crieth -- a cry loud and bitter,

Luego que supo Mardoqueo todo lo que se había hecho, rasgó sus vestidos, se vistió de ropa áspera, se cubrió de ceniza, y se fue por la ciudad lanzando grandes gemidos,

2 a nd he cometh in unto the front of the gate of the king, but none is to come in unto the gate of the king with a sackcloth-garment.

hasta llegar ante la puerta real, pues no era lícito atravesar la puerta real con vestido de ropa áspera.

3 A nd in every province and province, the place where the word of the king, even his law, is coming, a great mourning have the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and lamenting: sackcloth and ashes are spread for many.

En toda provincia y lugar donde el mandamiento del rey y su decreto llegaba, había entre los judíos gran luto, ayuno, lloro y lamentación. Saco y ceniza era la cama de muchos.

4 A nd young women of Esther come in and her eunuchs, and declare to her, and the queen is exceedingly pained, and sendeth garments to clothe Mordecai, and to turn aside his sackcloth from off him, and he hath not received.

Las doncellas de Ester y sus eunucos fueron a decírselo. Entonces la reina sintió un gran dolor, y envió vestidos para que Mardoqueo se vistiera y se quitara la ropa áspera; pero él no los aceptó.

5 A nd Esther calleth to Hatach, of the eunuchs of the king, whom he hath stationed before her, and giveth him a charge for Mordecai, to know what this, and wherefore this.

Entonces Ester llamó a Hatac, uno de los eunucos que el rey había puesto al servicio de ella, y lo mandó a Mardoqueo para averiguar qué sucedía y por qué estaba así.

6 A nd Hatach goeth out unto Mordecai, unto a broad place of the city, that before the gate of the king,

Salió, pues, Hatac a ver a Mardoqueo, a la plaza de la ciudad que estaba delante de la puerta real.

7 a nd Mordecai declareth to him all that hath met him, and the explanation of the money that Haman said to weigh to the treasuries of the king for the Jews, to destroy them,

Y Mardoqueo le comunicó todo lo que le había acontecido, y le informó de la plata que Amán había dicho que entregaría a los tesoros del rey a cambio de la destrucción de los judíos.

8 a nd the copy of the writing of the law that had been given in Shushan to destroy them he hath given to him, to shew Esther, and to declare to her, and to lay a charge on her to go in unto the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek from before him, for her people.

Le dio también la copia del decreto que había sido publicado en Susa para que fueran exterminados, a fin de que la mostrara a Ester, se lo informara, y le encargara que fuera ante el rey a suplicarle y a interceder delante de él por su pueblo.

9 A nd Hatach cometh in and declareth to Esther the words of Mordecai,

Regresó Hatac y contó a Ester las palabras de Mardoqueo.

10 a nd Esther speaketh to Hatach, and chargeth him for Mordecai:

Entonces Ester ordenó a Hatac que dijera a Mardoqueo:

11 ` All servants of the king, and people of the provinces of the king, do know that any man and woman, who cometh in unto the king, unto the inner court, who is not called -- one law his to put to death, apart from him to whom the king holdeth out the golden sceptre, then he hath lived; and I -- I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.'

«Todos los siervos del rey y el pueblo de las provincias del rey saben que hay una ley que condena a muerte a cualquier hombre o mujer que entre, sin haber sido llamado, al patio interior para ver al rey, salvo aquel a quien el rey, extendiendo el cetro de oro, le perdone la vida. Y yo no he sido llamada para ver al rey estos treinta días.»

12 A nd they declare to Mordecai the words of Esther,

Llevó a Mardoqueo las palabras de Ester,

13 a nd Mordecai speaketh to send back unto Esther: `Do not think in thy soul to be delivered the house of the king, more than all the Jews,

y Mardoqueo dijo que le respondieran a Ester: «No pienses que escaparás en la casa del rey más que cualquier otro judío.

14 b ut if thou keep entirely silent at this time, respite and deliverance remaineth to the Jews from another place, and thou and the house of thy fathers are destroyed; and who knoweth whether for a time like this thou hast come to the kingdom?'

Porque si callas absolutamente en este tiempo, respiro y liberación vendrá de alguna otra parte para los judíos; mas tú y la casa de tu padre pereceréis. ¿Y quién sabe si para esta hora has llegado al reino?»

15 A nd Esther speaketh to send back unto Mordecai:

Entonces Ester dijo que respondieran a Mardoqueo:

16 ` Go, gather all the Jews who are found in Shushan, and fast for me, and do not eat nor drink three days, by night and by day; also I and my young women do fast likewise, and so I go in unto the king, that not according to law, and when I have perished -- I have perished.'

«Ve y reúne a todos los judíos que se hallan en Susa, ayunad por mí y no comáis ni bebáis durante tres días y tres noches. También yo y mis doncellas ayunaremos, y entonces entraré a ver al rey, aunque no sea conforme a la ley; y si perezco, que perezca.»

17 A nd Mordecai passeth on, and doth according to all that Esther hath charged upon him.

Entonces Mardoqueo se fue e hizo conforme a todo lo que le había mandado Ester.
