1 A nd Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, turned back from the Jordan, and was brought in the Spirit to the wilderness,

Jesús, lleno del Espíritu Santo, volvió del Jordán y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto

2 f orty days being tempted by the Devil, and he did not eat anything in those days, and they having been ended, he afterward hungered,

por cuarenta días, y era tentado por el diablo. No comió nada en aquellos días, pasados los cuales tuvo hambre.

3 a nd the Devil said to him, `If Son thou art of God, speak to this stone that it may become bread.'

Entonces el diablo le dijo: —Si eres Hijo de Dios, di a esta piedra que se convierta en pan.

4 A nd Jesus answered him, saying, `It hath been written, that, not on bread only shall man live, but on every saying of God.'

Jesús, respondiéndole, dijo: —Escrito está: “No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra de Dios.”

5 A nd the Devil having brought him up to an high mountain, shewed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,

Luego lo llevó el diablo a un alto monte y le mostró en un momento todos los reinos de la tierra.

6 a nd the Devil said to him, `To thee I will give all this authority, and their glory, because to me it hath been delivered, and to whomsoever I will, I do give it;

Le dijo el diablo: —A ti te daré todo el poder de estos reinos y la gloria de ellos, porque a mí me ha sido entregada y a quien quiero la doy.

7 t hou, then, if thou mayest bow before me -- all shall be thine.'

Si tú, postrado, me adoras, todos serán tuyos.

8 A nd Jesus answering him said, `Get thee behind me, Adversary, for it hath been written, Thou shalt bow before the Lord thy God, and Him only thou shalt serve.'

Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: —Vete de mí, Satanás, porque escrito está: “Al Señor tu Dios adorarás y sólo a él servirás.”

9 A nd he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, `If the Son thou art of God, cast thyself down hence,

Entonces lo llevó a Jerusalén, lo puso sobre el pináculo del Templo y le dijo: —Si eres Hijo de Dios, tírate de aquí abajo,

10 f or it hath been written -- To His messengers He will give charge concerning thee, to guard over thee,

pues escrito está: “A sus ángeles mandará acerca de ti, que te guarden”,

11 a nd -- On hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou mayest dash against a stone thy foot.'

y “En las manos te sostendrán, para que no tropieces con tu pie en piedra.”

12 A nd Jesus answering said to him -- `It hath been said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.'

Respondiendo Jesús, le dijo: —Dicho está: “No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.”

13 A nd having ended all temptation, the Devil departed from him till a convenient season.

Cuando acabó toda tentación el diablo, se apartó de él por un tiempo. Jesús principia su ministerio

14 A nd Jesus turned back in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and a fame went forth through all the region round about concerning him,

Jesús volvió en el poder del Espíritu a Galilea, y se difundió su fama por toda la tierra de alrededor.

15 a nd he was teaching in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

Enseñaba en las sinagogas de ellos y era glorificado por todos. Jesús en Nazaret

16 A nd he came to Nazareth, where he hath been brought up, and he went in, according to his custom, on the sabbath-day, to the synagogue, and stood up to read;

Vino a Nazaret, donde se había criado; y el sábado entró en la sinagoga, conforme a su costumbre, y se levantó a leer.

17 a nd there was given over to him a roll of Isaiah the prophet, and having unfolded the roll, he found the place where it hath been written:

Se le dio el libro del profeta Isaías y, habiendo abierto el libro, halló el lugar donde está escrito:

18 ` The Spirit of the Lord upon me, Because He did anoint me; To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart, To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight, To send away the bruised with deliverance,

«El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí, por cuanto me ha ungido para dar buenas nuevas a los pobres; me ha enviado a sanar a los quebrantados de corazón, a pregonar libertad a los cautivos y vista a los ciegos, a poner en libertad a los oprimidos

19 T o proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.'

y a predicar el año agradable del Señor.»

20 A nd having folded the roll, having given back to the officer, he sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue were gazing on him.

Enrollando el libro, lo dio al ministro y se sentó. Los ojos de todos en la sinagoga estaban fijos en él.

21 A nd he began to say unto them -- `To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;'

Entonces comenzó a decirles: —Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de vosotros.

22 a nd all were bearing testimony to him, and were wondering at the gracious words that are coming forth out of his mouth, and they said, `Is not this the son of Joseph?'

Todos daban buen testimonio de él y estaban maravillados de las palabras de gracia que salían de su boca. Decían: —¿No es éste el hijo de José?

23 A nd he said unto them, `Certainly ye will say to me this simile, Physician, heal thyself; as great things as we heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country;'

Él les dijo: —Sin duda me diréis este refrán: “Médico, cúrate a ti mismo. De tantas cosas que hemos oído que se han hecho en Capernaúm, haz también aquí en tu tierra.”

24 a nd he said, `Verily I say to you -- No prophet is accepted in his own country;

Y añadió: —De cierto os digo que ningún profeta es bien recibido en su propia tierra.

25 a nd of a truth I say to you, Many widows were in the days of Elijah, in Israel, when the heaven was shut for three years and six months, when great famine came on all the land,

Y en verdad os digo que muchas viudas había en Israel en los días de Elías, cuando el cielo fue cerrado por tres años y seis meses y hubo una gran hambre en toda la tierra;

26 a nd unto none of them was Elijah sent, but -- to Sarepta of Sidon, unto a woman, a widow;

pero a ninguna de ellas fue enviado Elías, sino a una mujer viuda en Sarepta de Sidón.

27 a nd many lepers were in the time of Elisha the prophet, in Israel, and none of them was cleansed, but -- Naaman the Syrian.'

Y muchos leprosos había en Israel en tiempo del profeta Eliseo, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado, sino Naamán el sirio.

28 A nd all in the synagogue were filled with wrath, hearing these things,

Al oír estas cosas, todos en la sinagoga se llenaron de ira.

29 a nd having risen, they put him forth without the city, and brought him unto the brow of the hill on which their city had been built -- to cast him down headlong,

Levantándose, lo echaron fuera de la ciudad y lo llevaron hasta la cumbre del monte sobre el cual estaba edificada la ciudad de ellos, para despeñarlo;

30 a nd he, having gone through the midst of them, went away.

pero él pasó por en medio de ellos y se fue. Un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro

31 A nd he came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the sabbaths,

Descendió Jesús a Capernaúm, ciudad de Galilea, y los sábados les enseñaba;

32 a nd they were astonished at his teaching, because his word was with authority.

y se admiraban de su doctrina, porque su palabra tenía autoridad.

33 A nd in the synagogue was a man, having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out with a great voice,

Estaba en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía un espíritu de demonio impuro, el cual exclamó a gran voz,

34 s aying, `Away, what -- to us and to thee, Jesus, O Nazarene? thou didst come to destroy us; I have known thee who thou art -- the Holy One of God.'

diciendo: —¡Déjanos! ¿Qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús nazareno? ¿Has venido para destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios.

35 A nd Jesus did rebuke him, saying, `Be silenced, and come forth out of him;' and the demon having cast him into the midst, came forth from him, having hurt him nought;

Jesús lo reprendió, diciendo: —¡Cállate y sal de él! Entonces el demonio, derribándolo en medio de ellos, salió de él sin hacerle daño alguno.

36 a nd amazement came upon all, and they were speaking together, with one another, saying, `What this word, that with authority and power he doth command the unclean spirits, and they come forth?'

Todos estaban maravillados, y se decían unos a otros: —¿Qué palabra es ésta, que con autoridad y poder manda a los espíritus impuros, y salen?

37 a nd there was going forth a fame concerning him to every place of the region round about.

Y su fama se difundía por todos los lugares de la región. Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro

38 A nd having risen out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon, and the mother-in-law of Simon was pressed with a great fever, and they did ask him about her,

Entonces Jesús se levantó, salió de la sinagoga y entró en casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón tenía una gran fiebre; y le rogaron por ella.

39 a nd having stood over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her, and presently, having risen, she was ministering to them.

E inclinándose hacia ella, reprendió a la fiebre; y la fiebre la dejó, y levantándose ella al instante, les servía. Jesús sana a muchos enfermos

40 A nd at the setting of the sun, all, as many as had any ailing with manifold sicknesses, brought them unto him, and he on each one of them hands having put, did heal them.

Al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diversas enfermedades los traían a él; y él, poniendo las manos sobre cada uno de ellos, los sanaba.

41 A nd demons also were coming forth from many, crying out and saying -- `Thou art the Christ, the Son of God;' and rebuking, he did not suffer them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.

También salían demonios de muchos, dando voces y diciendo: —¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios! Pero él los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar, porque sabían que él era el Cristo. Jesús recorre Galilea predicando

42 A nd day having come, having gone forth, he went on to a desert place, and the multitudes were seeking him, and they came unto him, and were staying him -- not to go on from them,

Cuando ya era de día, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto. La gente lo buscaba y, llegando a donde estaba, lo detenían para que no se fuera de ellos.

43 a nd he said unto them -- `Also to the other cities it behoveth me to proclaim good news of the reign of God, because for this I have been sent;'

Pero él les dijo: —Es necesario que también a otras ciudades anuncie el evangelio del reino de Dios, porque para esto he sido enviado.

44 a nd he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Y predicaba en las sinagogas de Galilea.
