1 W herefore no longer forbearing, we thought good to be left in Athens alone,

Por eso, no pudiendo soportarlo más, acordamos quedarnos solos en Atenas,

2 a nd did send Timotheus -- our brother, and a ministrant of God, and our fellow-workman in the good news of the Christ -- to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith,

y enviamos a Timoteo, nuestro hermano, servidor de Dios y colaborador nuestro en el evangelio de Cristo, para confirmaros y exhortaros respecto a vuestra fe,

3 t hat no one be moved in these tribulations, for yourselves have known that for this we are set,

a fin de que nadie se inquiete por estas tribulaciones, porque vosotros mismos sabéis que para esto estamos puestos.

4 f or even when we were with you, we said to you beforehand, that we are about to suffer tribulation, as also it did come to pass, and ye have known;

Cuando estábamos con vosotros os predecíamos que íbamos a pasar tribulaciones; y así sucedió, como bien sabéis.

5 b ecause of this also, I, no longer forbearing, did send to know your faith, lest he who is tempting did tempt you, and in vain might be our labour.

Por eso también yo, no pudiendo soportar más, envié para informarme de vuestra fe, pues temía que os hubiera tentado el tentador y que nuestro trabajo hubiera resultado en vano.

6 A nd now Timotheus having come unto us from you, and having declared good news to us of your faith and love, and that ye have a good remembrance of us always, desiring much to see us, as we also you,

Pero cuando Timoteo regresó, nos dio buenas noticias de vuestra fe y amor, y que siempre nos recordáis con cariño, y que deseáis vernos, como también nosotros a vosotros.

7 b ecause of this we were comforted, brethren, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith,

Por eso, hermanos, en medio de toda nuestra necesidad y aflicción fuimos consolados al saber de vuestra fe.

8 b ecause now we live, if ye may stand fast in the Lord;

De modo que ahora hemos vuelto a vivir, sabiendo que estáis firmes en el Señor.

9 f or what thanks are we able to recompense to God for you, for all the joy with which we do joy because of you in the presence of our God?

Por lo cual, ¿qué acción de gracias podremos dar a Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo con que nos gozamos a causa de vosotros delante de nuestro Dios,

10 n ight and day exceedingly beseeching, that we might see your face, and perfect the things lacking in your faith.

orando de noche y de día con gran insistencia, para que veamos vuestro rostro y completemos lo que falte a vuestra fe?

11 A nd our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you,

Pero el mismo Dios y Padre nuestro, y nuestro Señor Jesucristo, dirija nuestro camino a vosotros.

12 a nd you the Lord cause to increase and to abound in the love to one another, and to all, even as we also to you,

Y el Señor os haga crecer y abundar en amor unos para con otros y para con todos, como también lo hacemos nosotros para con vosotros.

13 t o the establishing your hearts blameless in sanctification before our God and Father, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

Que él afirme vuestros corazones, que os haga irreprochables en santidad delante de Dios nuestro Padre, en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo con todos sus santos.
