1 W herefore no longer forbearing, we thought good to be left in Athens alone,

De aceea, fiindcă n-am mai putut răbda, am hotărât să rămânem singuri în Atena

2 a nd did send Timotheus -- our brother, and a ministrant of God, and our fellow-workman in the good news of the Christ -- to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith,

şi l-am trimis pe Timotei, fratele nostru şi conlucrător cu noi pentru Dumnezeu, în răspândirea Evangheliei lui Cristos, ca să vă întărească şi să vă încurajeze în credinţa voastră,

3 t hat no one be moved in these tribulations, for yourselves have known that for this we are set,

pentru ca nimeni să nu se clatine în aceste necazuri. Căci ştiţi că la aceasta suntem destinaţi.

4 f or even when we were with you, we said to you beforehand, that we are about to suffer tribulation, as also it did come to pass, and ye have known;

Când eram la voi v-am spus dinainte că urmează să fim asupriţi, aşa cum s-a şi întâmplat, după cum bine ştiţi.

5 b ecause of this also, I, no longer forbearing, did send to know your faith, lest he who is tempting did tempt you, and in vain might be our labour.

De aceea, când n-am mai putut răbda, l-am trimis ca să afle despre credinţa voastră, ca nu cumva ispititorul să vă fi ispitit, şi osteneala noastră să fi fost în zadar.

6 A nd now Timotheus having come unto us from you, and having declared good news to us of your faith and love, and that ye have a good remembrance of us always, desiring much to see us, as we also you,

Însă Timotei a venit chiar acum de la voi şi ne-a adus veşti bune despre credinţa şi dragostea voastră. Ne-a spus că întotdeauna vă amintiţi cu plăcere de noi şi că doriţi să ne vedeţi, aşa cum şi noi dorim să vă vedem.

7 b ecause of this we were comforted, brethren, over you, in all our tribulation and necessity, through your faith,

De aceea, în toate strâmtorările şi necazurile noastre, am fost încurajaţi, fraţilor, cu privire la voi, datorită credinţei voastre.

8 b ecause now we live, if ye may stand fast in the Lord;

Acum trăim într-adevăr, fiindcă voi rămâneţi fermi în Domnul.

9 f or what thanks are we able to recompense to God for you, for all the joy with which we do joy because of you in the presence of our God?

Cum putem să-I mulţumim îndeajuns lui Dumnezeu cu privire la voi pentru toată bucuria pe care o simţim datorită vouă, înaintea Dumnezeului nostru?

10 n ight and day exceedingly beseeching, that we might see your face, and perfect the things lacking in your faith.

Zi şi noapte ne rugăm cu ardoare să vă putem vedea din nou şi să aducem ceea ce lipseşte credinţei voastre.

11 A nd our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you,

Fie ca Însuşi Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, şi Domnul nostru Isus să ne netezească calea spre voi!

12 a nd you the Lord cause to increase and to abound in the love to one another, and to all, even as we also to you,

Domnul să facă să crească şi să se reverse dragostea voastră unii faţă de alţii şi faţă de toţi, aşa cum facem şi noi faţă de voi!

13 t o the establishing your hearts blameless in sanctification before our God and Father, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

El să vă întărească inimile în sfinţenie, ca să fiţi fără pată înaintea lui Dumnezeu, Tatăl nostru, la venirea Domnului nostru Isus cu toţi sfinţii Lui!
