1 I exhort, then, first of all, there be made supplications, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, for all men:

Înainte de toate, te îndemn să faci cereri, rugăciuni, mijlociri şi mulţumiri pentru toţi oamenii,

2 f or kings, and all who are in authority, that a quiet and peaceable life we may lead in all piety and gravity,

pentru împăraţi şi pentru toţi cei ce sunt în poziţii înalte, ca să putem duce o viaţă paşnică şi liniştită, cu toată evlavia şi demnitatea.

3 f or this right and acceptable before God our Saviour,

Acest lucru este bun şi bine primit înaintea lui Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul nostru,

4 w ho doth will all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;

Care doreşte ca toţi oamenii să fie mântuiţi şi să vină la cunoaşterea adevărului.

5 f or one God, one also mediator of God and of men, the man Christ Jesus,

Căci este un singur Dumnezeu şi un singur Mijlocitor între Dumnezeu şi oameni: Omul Cristos Isus,

6 w ho did give himself a ransom for all -- the testimony in its own times --

Care S-a dat pe Sine Însuşi ca răscumpărare pentru toţi – despre aceasta s-a depus mărturie la timpul potrivit.

7 i n regard to which I was set a preacher and apostle -- truth I say in Christ, I do not lie -- a teacher of nations, in faith and truth.

Pentru aceasta am fost pus predicator, apostol – spun adevărul, nu mint – şi învăţător al neamurilor în credinţă şi adevăr.

8 I wish, therefore, that men pray in every place, lifting up kind hands, apart from anger and reasoning;

Vreau deci ca bărbaţii să se roage în orice loc, ridicând spre cer mâini sfinte, fără mânie şi fără ceartă.

9 i n like manner also the women, in becoming apparel, with modesty and sobriety to adorn themselves, not in braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or garments of great price,

Femeile, de asemenea, vreau să se îmbrace în haine decente, cu modestie şi cumpătare, nu cu împletituri ale părului, nici cu aur sau cu mărgăritare, sau cu haine scumpe,

10 b ut -- which becometh women professing godly piety -- through good works.

11 L et a woman in quietness learn in all subjection,

O femeie să înveţe în tăcere, cu toată supunerea.

12 a nd a woman I do not suffer to teach, nor to rule a husband, but to be in quietness,

Nu dau voie femeii să înveţe sau să aibă autoritate asupra bărbatului, ci să stea în tăcere.

13 f or Adam was first formed, then Eve,

Căci Adam a fost întocmit mai întâi, apoi Eva.

14 a nd Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, into transgression came,

Şi nu Adam a fost înşelat, ci femeia a fost înşelată şi a căzut în neascultare.

15 a nd she shall be saved through the child-bearing, if they remain in faith, and love, and sanctification, with sobriety.

Totuşi ea va fi mântuită prin naşterea de copii, dacă rămâne în credinţă, în dragoste şi în sfinţenie, alături de cumpătare.
