1 A nd the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah when Ehud is dead,

După ce a murit Ehud, israeliţii au făcut din nou ce este rău în ochii Domnului

2 a nd Jehovah selleth them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who hath reigned in Hazor, and the head of his host Sisera, and he is dwelling in Harosheth of the Goyim;

şi de aceea Domnul i-a vândut în mâinile lui Iabin, un rege din Canaan, care domnea în Haţor. Sisera, conducătorul oştirii sale, locuia în Haroşet-Goyim.

3 a nd the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, for he hath nine hundred chariots of iron, and he hath oppressed the sons of Israel mightily twenty years.

Israeliţii au strigat către Domnul, căci Sisera avea nouă sute de care de fier şi, de douăzeci de ani, îi asuprea puternic.

4 A nd Deborah, a woman inspired, wife of Lapidoth, she is judging Israel at that time,

În perioada aceea în Israel judeca o profetesă pe nume Debora, soţia lui Lapidot.

5 a nd she is dwelling under the palm-tree of Deborah, between Ramah and Beth-El, in the hill-country of Ephraim, and the sons of Israel go up unto her for judgment.

Ea locuia sub Palmierul Deborei; acesta se afla între Rama şi Betel, în regiunea muntoasă a lui Efraim. Israeliţii se duceau la ea pentru judecată.

6 A nd she sendeth and calleth for Barak son of Abinoam, out of Kedesh-Naphtali, and saith unto him, `Hath not Jehovah, God of Israel, commanded? go, and thou hast drawn towards mount Tabor, and hast taken with thee ten thousand men, out of the sons of Naphtali, and out of the sons of Zebulun,

Ea a trimis să fie chemat Barak, fiul lui Abinoam, din Kedeş, în Neftali şi i-a zis: – Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, îţi porunceşte astfel: „Du-te, îndreaptă-te spre muntele Tabor şi ia cu tine zece mii de bărbaţi din Neftali şi din Zabulon!

7 a nd I have drawn unto thee, unto the brook Kishon, Sisera, head of the host of Jabin, and his chariot, and his multitude, and have given him into thy hand.'

Îl voi atrage pe Sisera, conducătorul oştirii lui Iabin, spre tine, la uedul Chişon, cu toate carele şi oştirile lui şi-l voi da în mâinile tale!“

8 A nd Barak saith unto her, `If thou dost go with me, then I have gone; and if thou dost not go with me, I do not go;'

Barak i-a răspuns: – Dacă vei merge şi tu cu mine, atunci voi merge şi eu, dar dacă nu vei merge cu mine, nu voi merge nici eu!

9 a nd she saith, `I do certainly go with thee; only, surely thy glory is not on the way which thou art going, for into the hand of a woman doth Jehovah sell Sisera;' and Deborah riseth and goeth with Barak to Kedesh.

Ea i-a zis: – De mers voi merge cu tine, dar, în felul acesta, slava nu va fi a ta, căci Domnul îl va da pe Sisera în mâinile unei femei! Apoi Debora a plecat cu Barak la Kedeş.

10 A nd Barak calleth Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh, and he goeth up -- at his feet ten thousand men -- and Deborah goeth up with him.

Barak i-a chemat la Kedeş pe cei din Zabulon şi din Neftali; zece mii de bărbaţi mergeau în urma lui, iar Debora l-a însoţit.

11 A nd Heber the Kenite hath been separated from the Kenite, from the sons of Hobab father-in-law of Moses, and he stretcheth out his tent unto the oak in Zaanaim, which by Kedesh.

Chenitul Heber se separase de cheniţi, urmaşii lui Hobab, socrul lui Moise, şi îşi aşezase cortul lângă terebintul din Ţaananim, în apropiere de Kedeş.

12 A nd they declare to Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam hath gone up to mount Tabor,

S-a dat de ştire lui Sisera că Barak, fiul lui Abinoam, s-a îndreptat spre muntele Tabor.

13 a nd Sisera calleth all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who with him, from Harosheth of the Goyim, unto the brook Kishon.

Atunci Sisera şi-a pus în mişcare toate cele nouă sute de care de fier şi toţi oamenii care erau cu el, de la Haroşet-Goyim până la uedul Chişon.

14 A nd Deborah saith unto Barak, `Rise, for this the day in which Jehovah hath given Sisera into thy hand; hath not Jehovah gone out before thee?' And Barak goeth down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

Debora i-a zis lui Barak: „Ridică-te, căci aceasta este ziua în care a dat Domnul pe Sisera în mâinile tale! Oare nu a mers Domnul înaintea ta?“ Barak s-a coborât de pe muntele Tabor cu cei zece mii de bărbaţi după el.

15 A nd Jehovah destroyeth Sisera, and all the chariots, and all the camp, by the mouth of the sword, before Barak, and Sisera cometh down from off the chariot, and fleeth on his feet.

Cu ajutorul sabiei, Domnul l-a zdrobit pe Sisera dinaintea lui Barak, cu toate carele şi cu toată oştirea lui. Sisera s-a dat jos din car şi a fugit pe jos.

16 A nd Barak hath pursued after the chariots and after the camp, unto Harosheth of the Goyim, and all the camp of Sisera falleth by the mouth of the sword -- there hath not been left even one.

Barak a urmărit carele şi oştirea până la Haroşet-Goyim şi toată oştirea lui Sisera a fost nimicită. N-a mai rămas nici unul măcar.

17 A nd Sisera hath fled on his feet unto the tent of Jael wife of Heber the Kenite, for peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite;

Sisera însă a reuşit să fugă până la cortul Iaelei, soţia chenitului Heber, căci între Iabin, regele Haţorului, şi familia chenitului Heber era pace.

18 a nd Jael goeth out to meet Sisera, and saith unto him, `Turn aside, my lord, turn aside unto me, fear not;' and he turneth aside unto her, into the tent, and she covereth him with a coverlet.

Iael i-a ieşit în întâmpinare şi i-a zis: – Domnia ta, vino şi intră în cortul meu, nu-ţi fie frică! El a intrat în cort şi ea l-a ascuns sub o carpetă.

19 A nd he saith unto her, `Give me to drink, I pray thee, a little water, for I am thirsty;' and she openeth the bottle of milk, and giveth him to drink, and covereth him.

El i-a zis: – Te rog, dă-mi să beau puţină apă căci sunt însetat! Ea a deschis un burduf cu lapte, i-a dat să bea şi apoi l-a ascuns din nou.

20 A nd he saith unto her, `Stand at the opening of the tent, and it hath been, if any doth come in, and hath asked thee, and said, Is there a man here? that thou hast said, There is not.'

El i-a mai zis: – Stai la intrarea cortului şi dacă va veni cumva vreun om să te întrebe: „Este vreun bărbat aici?“, tu să-i răspunzi că nu este nimeni.

21 A nd Jael wife of Heber taketh the pin of the tent, and taketh the hammer in her hand, and goeth unto him gently, and striketh the pin into his temples, and it fasteneth in the earth -- and he hath been fast asleep, and is weary -- and he dieth.

După aceea, Iael, soţia lui Heber, a luat un ţăruş de-al cortului, a pus mâna pe un ciocan, a intrat pe ascuns în cort şi i-a înfipt lui Sisera ţăruşul în tâmplă, pironindu-l astfel în pământ. Acesta adormise adânc pentru că era foarte obosit; şi astfel el a murit.

22 A nd lo, Barak is pursuing Sisera, and Jael cometh out to meet him, and saith to him, `Come, and I shew thee the man whom thou art seeking;' and he cometh in unto her, and lo, Sisera is fallen -- dead, and the pin in his temples.

În timp ce Barak îl urmărea pe Sisera, Iael a ieşit să-l întâmpine şi i-a zis: „Vino ca să ţi-l arăt pe omul pe care îl cauţi!“ A intrat la ea şi l-a văzut pe Sisera zăcând mort, cu ţăruşul înfipt în tâmplă.

23 A nd God humbleth on that day Jabin king of Canaan before the sons of Israel,

În ziua aceea Dumnezeu l-a umilit înaintea israeliţilor pe Iabin, regele din Canaan.

24 a nd the hand of the sons of Israel goeth, going on and becoming hard on Jabin king of Canaan, till that they have cut off Jabin king of Canaan.

Şi mâna israeliţilor a fost din ce în ce mai puternică împotriva lui Iabin, regele din Canaan, până când l-au nimicit.
