1 A nd daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh son of Joseph, draw near -- and these the names of his daughters, Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah --

Fetele lui Ţelofhad, fiul lui Hefer, fiul lui Ghilad, fiul lui Machir, fiul lui Manase, aparţineau clanurilor lui Manase, fiul lui Iosif. Numele lor erau: Mahla, Noa, Hogla, Milca şi Tirţa.

2 a nd stand before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the company, at the opening of the tent of meeting, saying:

Ele s-au apropiat de intrarea Cortului Întâlnirii şi au stat înaintea lui Moise, a preotului Elazar, a conducătorilor şi a întregii adunări şi le-au zis:

3 ` Our father died in the wilderness, and he -- he was not in the midst of the company who were met together against Jehovah in the company of Korah, but for his own sin he died, and had no sons;

„Tatăl nostru a murit în pustie. El nu a făcut parte din ceata lui Korah, care s-a răzvrătit împotriva Domnului, ci a murit pentru păcatul lui şi nu a avut nici un fiu.

4 w hy is the name of our father withdrawn from the midst of his family because he hath no son? give to us a possession in the midst of the brethren of our father;'

De ce să dispară numele tatălui nostru din mijlocul clanului lui pentru că nu a avut fii? Daţi-ne deci şi nouă o moştenire în mijlocul rudeniilor tatălui nostru!“

5 a nd Moses bringeth near their cause before Jehovah.

Moise a adus cazul lor înaintea Domnului

6 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

şi Domnul i-a răspuns:

7 ` Rightly are the daughters of Zelophehad speaking; thou dost certainly give to them a possession of an inheritance in the midst of their father's brethren, and hast caused to pass over the inheritance of their father to them.

„Ce spun fetele lui Ţelofhad este drept! Să le dai şi lor o proprietate drept moştenire în mijlocul rudeniilor tatălui lor şi să treci moştenirea tatălui asupra lor.

8 ` And unto the sons of Israel thou dost speak, saying, When a man dieth, and hath no son, then ye have caused his inheritance to pass over to his daughter;

Iar israeliţilor să le spui: «Dacă un om moare şi nu lasă moştenitori, moştenirea lui să treacă în proprietatea fiicelor lui.

9 a nd if he have no daughter, then ye have given his inheritance to his brethren;

Dacă nu are fete, moştenirea lui să fie dată fraţilor lui.

10 a nd if he have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his father's brethren;

Dacă nu are nici fraţi, moştenirea să fie dată fraţilor tatălui lui.

11 a nd if his father have no brethren, then ye have given his inheritance to his relation who is near unto him of his family, and he hath possessed it;' and it hath been to the sons of Israel for a statute of judgment, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

Dacă nici tatăl său nu are fraţi, moştenirea lui să fie dată în proprietatea rudeniei celei mai apropiate din clanul lui.» Aceasta să fie o prevedere legală pentru israeliţi, după porunca Domnului dată lui Moise.“ Iosua drept succesor al lui Moise

12 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Go up unto this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel;

După aceea, Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: – Urcă-te pe muntele acesta, Abarim, ca să vezi ţara pe care am dat-o israeliţilor.

13 a nd thou hast seen it, and thou hast been gathered unto thy people, also thou, as Aaron thy brother hath been gathered,

După ce o vei privi, vei fi adăugat la poporul tău tot aşa cum a fost adăugat şi fratele tău, Aaron.

14 b ecause ye provoked My mouth in the wilderness of Zin, in the strife of the company -- to sanctify Me at the waters before their eyes;' they waters of Meribah, in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin.

Căci atunci când adunarea a început să se certe, voi v-aţi răzvrătit împotriva poruncii Mele la apele din pustia Ţin şi nu M-aţi sfinţit înaintea ochilor lor. (Acestea au fost apele de la Meriba Kadeş, în pustia Ţin.)

15 A nd Moses speaketh unto Jehovah, saying,

Moise I-a răspuns Domnului:

16 ` Jehovah -- God of the spirits of all flesh -- appoint a man over the company,

– Fie ca Domnul, Dumnezeul duhurilor oricărui trup, să numească un om peste această adunare,

17 w ho goeth out before them, and who cometh in before them, and who taketh them out, and who bringeth them in, and the company of Jehovah is not as sheep which have no shepherd.'

care să iasă şi să intre înaintea lor, care să-i scoată afară şi să-i conducă înăuntru, pentru ca adunarea Domnului să nu fie ca o turmă fără păstor.

18 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Take to thee Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom the Spirit, and thou hast laid thine hand upon him,

Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: – Ia-l pe Iosua, fiul lui Nun, bărbat în care este Duhul Meu, şi pune-ţi mâna peste el.

19 a nd hast caused him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company, and hast charged him before their eyes,

Să-l aşezi înaintea preotului Elazar şi a întregii adunări şi să-l împuterniceşti în prezenţa lor.

20 a nd hast put of thine honour upon him, so that all the company of the sons of Israel do hearken.

Dă-i din autoritatea ta pentru ca toată adunarea israeliţilor să-l asculte.

21 ` And before Eleazar the priest he standeth, and he hath asked for him by the judgment of the Lights before Jehovah; at His word they go out, and at His word they come in; he, and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the company.'

Să stea înaintea preotului Elazar, iar acesta să întrebe pentru el decizia lui Urim înaintea Domnului. La porunca lui Elazar, Iosua şi toţi israeliţii împreună cu el, toată adunarea, vor trebui să iasă şi la porunca lui vor trebui să intre.

22 A nd Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded him, and taketh Joshua, and causeth him to stand before Eleazar the priest, and before all the company,

Moise a făcut după porunca Domnului. L-a luat pe Iosua şi l-a pus înaintea preotului Elazar şi a întregii adunări.

23 a nd layeth his hands upon him, and chargeth him, as Jehovah hath spoken by the hand of Moses.

Apoi şi-a pus mâinile peste el şi l-a împuternicit, după cuvântul încredinţat lui de Domnul.
