1 ` Then shall the reign of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;

Atunci Împărăţia Cerurilor va fi asemănată cu zece fecioare, care şi-au luat lămpile şi au ieşit în întâmpinarea mirelui.

2 a nd five of them were prudent, and five foolish;

Cinci dintre ele erau nesăbuite, iar cinci erau înţelepte.

3 t hey who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;

Cele nesăbuite nu şi-au luat cu ele şi untdelemn atunci când şi-au luat lămpile,

4 a nd the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.

dar cele înţelepte, împreună cu lămpile, şi-au luat şi untdelemn în vase.

5 ` And the bridegroom tarrying, they all nodded and were sleeping,

Mirele întârzia, astfel că ele au aţipit toate şi au adormit.

6 a nd in the middle of the night a cry was made, Lo, the bridegroom doth come; go ye forth to meet him.

La miezul nopţii a răsunat un strigăt: „Iată mirele! Ieşiţi-i în întâmpinare!“

7 ` Then rose all those virgins, and trimmed their lamps,

Atunci toate fecioarele acelea s-au sculat şi şi-au pregătit lămpile.

8 a nd the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;

Cele nesăbuite le-au zis celor înţelepte: – Daţi-ne şi nouă din untdelemnul vostru, pentru că ni se sting lămpile!

9 a nd the prudent answered, saying -- Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves.

Dar cele înţelepte au răspuns: – Nu, ca nu cumva să nu ne ajungă nici nouă, nici vouă! Duceţi-vă mai bine la cei ce vând untdelemn şi cumpăraţi-vă!

10 ` And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the marriage-feasts, and the door was shut;

În timp ce ele se duceau să cumpere untdelemn, a venit mirele. Cele ce erau gata au intrat la nuntă împreună cu el, iar uşa a fost închisă.

11 a nd afterwards come also do the rest of the virgins, saying, Sir, sir, open to us;

Mai târziu au venit şi celelalte fecioare şi au zis: – Doamne, Doamne, deschide-ne!

12 a nd he answering said, Verily I say to you, I have not known you.

Dar el le-a răspuns: – Adevărat vă spun că nu vă cunosc!

13 ` Watch therefore, for ye have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man doth come.

Aşadar, vegheaţi! Căci nu ştiţi nici ziua, nici ora (când vine Fiul Omului). Pilda talanţilor

14 ` For -- as a man going abroad did call his own servants, and did deliver to them his substance,

Căci va fi ca atunci când un om, urmând să plece într-o călătorie, şi-a chemat sclavii şi le-a încredinţat averile lui.

15 a nd to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.

Unuia i-a dat cinci talanţi, altuia – doi, iar altuia – unul, fiecăruia după puterea lui; apoi a plecat. Imediat,

16 ` And he who did receive the five talents, having gone, wrought with them, and made other five talents;

cel ce primise cinci talanţi s-a dus şi i-a investit şi a câştigat alţi cinci.

17 i n like manner also he who the two, he gained, also he, other two;

Tot aşa, cel ce primise doi a câştigat şi el alţi doi.

18 a nd he who did receive the one, having gone away, digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

Dar cel ce primise unul s-a dus şi a săpat o groapă în pământ şi a ascuns acolo banii stăpânului său.

19 ` And after a long time cometh the lord of those servants, and taketh reckoning with them;

După mult timp, stăpânul acelor sclavi a venit şi a început să-şi pună în ordine socotelile cu ei.

20 a nd he who did receive the five talents having come, brought other five talents, saying, `Sir, five talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other five talents did I gain besides them.

Cel ce primise cinci talanţi a venit şi a adus încă cinci talanţi, zicând: – Stăpâne, mi-ai încredinţat cinci talanţi; iată, am mai câştigat încă cinci!

21 ` And his lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord.

Stăpânul i-a zis: – Bine, sclav bun şi credincios! Pentru că ai fost credincios peste puţine lucruri, te voi pune responsabil peste multe! Intră în bucuria stăpânului tău!

22 ` And he who also did receive the two talents having come, said, Sir, two talents thou didst deliver to me; lo, other two talents I did gain besides them.

A venit apoi cel ce primise doi talanţi şi a zis: – Stăpâne, mi-ai încredinţat doi talanţi; iată, am mai câştigat doi!

23 ` His lord said to him, Well done, servant, good and faithful, over a few things thou wast faithful, over many things I will set thee; enter into the joy of thy lord.

Stăpânul i-a zis: – Bine, sclav bun şi credincios! Pentru că ai fost credincios peste puţine lucruri, te voi pune responsabil peste multe! Intră în bucuria stăpânului tău!

24 ` And he also who hath received the one talent having come, said, Sir, I knew thee, that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering from whence thou didst not scatter;

A venit şi cel ce primise un talant şi a zis: – Stăpâne, am ştiut că eşti un om aspru, care seceri de unde n-ai semănat şi aduni de unde n-ai împrăştiat,

25 a nd having been afraid, having gone away, I hid thy talent in the earth; lo, thou hast thine own!

aşa că mi-a fost teamă şi m-am dus şi ţi-am ascuns talantul în pământ. Iată aici talantul tău!

26 ` And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, thou hadst known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather whence I did not scatter!

Stăpânul i-a răspuns: – Sclav rău şi leneş! Ai ştiut că secer de unde n-am semănat şi că adun de unde n-am împrăştiat?

27 i t behoved thee then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received mine own with increase.

Atunci trebuia ca tu să-mi fi pus banii la zarafi, pentru ca, la întoarcere, să primesc cu dobândă ceea ce era al meu!

28 ` Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,

Aşadar, luaţi-i talantul şi daţi-i-l celui ce are zece talanţi!

29 f or to every one having shall be given, and he shall have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he hath shall be taken from him;

Căci oricui are, i se va da mai mult şi va avea din abundenţă, dar de la cel ce n-are se va lua chiar şi ce are!

30 a nd the unprofitable servant cast ye forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

Iar pe sclavul acela nefolositor aruncaţi-l în întunericul de afară! Acolo va fi plânsul şi scrâşnirea dinţilor! Judecata finală

31 ` And whenever the Son of Man may come in his glory, and all the holy messengers with him, then he shall sit upon a throne of his glory;

Când Fiul Omului va veni în slava Sa, împreună cu toţi îngerii, atunci El Se va aşeza pe tronul slavei Sale

32 a nd gathered together before him shall be all the nations, and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd doth separate the sheep from the goats,

şi toate neamurile vor fi adunate înaintea Lui. El îi va despărţi pe unii de alţii aşa cum desparte păstorul oile de capre

33 a nd he shall set the sheep indeed on his right hand, and the goats on the left.

şi va pune oile să stea la dreapta Lui, iar caprele, la stânga.

34 ` Then shall the king say to those on his right hand, Come ye, the blessed of my Father, inherit the reign that hath been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

Apoi Împăratul le va zice celor din dreapta Lui: – Veniţi, binecuvântaţii Tatălui Meu; moşteniţi Împărăţia care a fost pregătită pentru voi de la întemeierea lumii!

35 f or I did hunger, and ye gave me to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye received me;

Căci Mi-a fost foame şi Mi-aţi dat să mănânc, Mi-a fost sete şi Mi-aţi dat să beau, am fost străin şi M-aţi primit între voi,

36 n aked, and ye put around me; I was infirm, and ye looked after me; in prison I was, and ye came unto me.

am fost gol şi M-aţi îmbrăcat, am fost bolnav şi M-aţi vizitat, am fost în închisoare şi aţi venit pe la Mine.

37 ` Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, and we nourished? or thirsting, and we gave to drink?

Atunci cei drepţi Îl vor întreba: – Doamne, când Te-am văzut noi flămând şi Ţi-am dat să mănânci, sau însetat şi Ţi-am dat să bei?

38 a nd when did we see thee a stranger, and we received? or naked, and we put around?

Când Te-am văzut noi străin şi Te-am primit între noi, sau gol şi Te-am îmbrăcat?

39 a nd when did we see thee infirm, or in prison, and we came unto thee?

Şi când Te-am văzut noi bolnav sau în închisoare şi am venit pe la Tine?!

40 ` And the king answering, shall say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did to one of these my brethren -- the least -- to me ye did.

Iar Împăratul le va răspunde: – Adevărat vă spun că, ori de câte ori aţi făcut aşa unora dintre cei mai neînsemnaţi dintre aceşti fraţi ai Mei, Mie Mi-aţi făcut!

41 T hen shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;

Apoi le va zice celor din stânga: – Plecaţi de la Mine, blestemaţilor, în focul cel veşnic, care a fost pregătit pentru diavolul şi pentru îngerii lui!

42 f or I did hunger, and ye gave me not to eat; I did thirst, and ye gave me not to drink;

Căci Mi-a fost foame şi nu Mi-aţi dat să mănânc, Mi-a fost sete şi nu Mi-aţi dat să beau,

43 a stranger I was, and ye did not receive me; naked, and ye put not around me; infirm, and in prison, and ye did not look after me.

am fost străin şi nu M-aţi primit între voi, am fost gol şi nu M-aţi îmbrăcat, am fost bolnav şi în închisoare şi nu m-aţi vizitat!

44 ` Then shall they answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or infirm, or in prison, and we did not minister to thee?

Atunci şi ei Îl vor întreba: – Doamne, când Te-am văzut noi flămând sau însetat, sau străin, sau gol, sau bolnav, sau în închisoare şi nu Ţi-am slujit?!

45 ` Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did not to one of these, the least, ye did not to me.

Atunci El le va răspunde: – Adevărat vă spun că, ori de câte ori n-aţi făcut aşa unora dintre cei mai neînsemnaţi dintre aceştia, Mie nu Mi-aţi făcut!

46 A nd these shall go away to punishment age-during, but the righteous to life age-during.'

Şi aceştia vor merge în pedeapsa veşnică, iar cei drepţi vor merge în viaţa veşnică.
