1 A nd come in unto me do certain of the elders of Israel, and sit before me.

Au venit la mine câţiva dintre cei din sfatul bătrânilor lui Israel şi s-au aşezat înaintea mea.

2 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Atunci Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

3 ` Son of man, these men have caused their idols to go up on their heart, and the stumbling-block of their iniquity they have put over-against their faces; am I inquired of at all by them?

„Fiul omului, oamenii aceştia şi-au înălţat idolii în inimă şi şi-au aşezat înainte nelegiuirea ca pricină de cădere. Să Mă las Eu oare întrebat de ei?

4 ` Therefore, speak with them, and thou hast said unto them: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Every one of the house of Israel who causeth his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath gone in unto the prophet -- I Jehovah have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,

De aceea să le vorbeşti şi să le spui astfel: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Fiecărui bărbat din Casa lui Israel, care îşi înalţă idolii în inimă şi îşi aşază înainte propria nelegiuire ca o pricină de cădere şi care se duce totuşi la profet, îi voi răspunde Eu Însumi, Domnul, în ciuda mulţimii idolilor lui.

5 i n order to catch the house of Israel by their heart, in that they have become estranged from off me by their idols -- all of them.

Voi face astfel pentru a-i prinde în chiar inima lor pe cei din Casa lui Israel care s-au înstrăinat de Mine prin idolii lor.’»

6 ` Therefore say unto the house of Israel: Thus said the Lord Jehovah: Turn ye back, yea, turn ye back from your idols, and from all your abominations turn back your faces,

De aceea spune-le celor din Casa lui Israel: «Aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: ‘Pocăiţi-vă şi întoarceţi-vă de la idolii voştri! Întoarceţi-vă privirile de la toate urâciunile voastre!

7 f or every one of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who doth sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and doth cause his idols to go up unto his heart, and the stumbling-block of his iniquity setteth over-against his face, and hath come in unto the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, Jehovah, have answered him for Myself;

Eu, Domnul, îi voi răspunde fiecărui bărbat din Casa lui Israel şi fiecărui străin care locuieşte în Israel, care s-au despărţit de Mine, şi-au înălţat idolii în inimă şi şi-au aşezat înainte propria lor nelegiuire ca pricină de cădere, iar apoi au venit la profet ca să-l întrebe despre Mine.

8 a nd I have set My face against that man, and made him for a sign, and for similes, and I have cut him off from the midst of My people, and ye have known that I Jehovah.

Îmi voi întoarce faţa împotriva acelui om şi-l voi face un semn şi o pildă; îl voi tăia din poporul Meu şi veţi şti astfel că Eu sunt Domnul.

9 ` And the prophet, when he is enticed, and hath spoken a word -- I, Jehovah, I have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel.

Dacă un profet este înşelat să spună un cuvânt, Eu, Domnul, l-am înşelat pe profetul acela. Îmi voi întinde mâna împotriva lui şi îl voi nimici din poporul Meu, Israel.

10 A nd they have borne their iniquity: as the iniquity of the inquirer, so is the iniquity of the prophet;

Îşi va purta astfel vina, iar pedeapsa celui ce-l întreabă pe profet va fi la fel cu pedeapsa profetului însuşi.

11 s o that the house of Israel do not wander any more from after Me, nor are defiled any more with all their transgressions, and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

În felul acesta Casa lui Israel nu va mai pleca de la Mine ca să rătăcească şi nu se va mai întina prin toate nelegiuirile ei, ci va fi poporul Meu şi Eu voi fi Dumnezeul ei, zice Stăpânul Domn. ’»“

12 A nd there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying,

Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis:

13 ` Son of man, the land -- when it sinneth against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken for it the staff of bread, and sent into it famine, and cut off from it man and beast --

„Fiul omului, când va păcătui o ţară împotriva Mea, fiind necredincioasă, Îmi voi întinde mâna împotriva ei, îi voi zdrobi toiagul pâinii, voi trimite foametea împotriva ei şi voi nimici din ea atât oamenii, cât şi animalele.

14 a nd these three men have been in its midst, Noah, Daniel, and Job -- they by their righteousness deliver their own soul -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.

Chiar dacă ar fi în mijlocul ei aceşti trei bărbaţi – Noe, Daniel şi Iov – prin dreptatea lor şi-ar putea scăpa numai sufletele lor, zice Stăpânul Domn.

15 ` If an evil beast I cause to pass through the land, and it hath bereaved, and it hath been a desolation, without any passing through because of the beast --

Sau dacă voi lăsa să treacă prin ţară animale sălbatice care o vor lăsa fără popor, ajungând astfel o pustie prin care nimeni nu va mai putea trece din cauza animalelor,

16 t hese three men in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- neither sons nor daughters do they deliver; they alone are delivered, and the land is a desolation.

chiar dacă aceşti trei bărbaţi ar fi în mijlocul ei, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că ei nu i-ar putea scăpa nici pe fii, nici pe fiice, ci s-ar putea scăpa numai pe ei înşişi, iar ţara ar rămâne pustiită.

17 ` Or -- a sword I bring in against that land, and I have said: Sword, thou dost pass over through the land, and I have cut off from it man and beast --

Sau dacă voi aduce sabia împotriva acestei ţări, dacă voi spune sabiei să străbată ţara şi voi nimici astfel atât oamenii cât şi animalele,

18 a nd these three men in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- they deliver not sons and daughters, for they alone are delivered.

chiar dacă ar fi în ţară aceşti trei bărbaţi, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că ei nu i-ar putea scăpa nici pe fii, nici pe fiice, ci s-ar putea scăpa numai pe ei înşişi.

19 ` Or -- pestilence I send unto that land, and I have poured out My fury against it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast --

Sau dacă voi trimite molima în ţara aceasta şi-Mi voi revărsa furia peste ea prin vărsare de sânge, ca să-i nimicesc oamenii şi animalele,

20 a nd Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst: I live -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah -- neither son nor daughter do they deliver; they, by their righteousness, deliver their own soul.

chiar dacă Noe, Daniel şi Iov ar fi în mijlocul ei, viu sunt Eu, zice Stăpânul Domn, că ei nu i-ar putea scăpa nici pe fiu, nici pe fiică, ci, prin dreptatea lor, şi-ar putea scăpa numai sufletele lor.

21 ` For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Although My four sore judgments -- sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence -- I have sent unto Jerusalem, to cut off from it man and beast,

Căci aşa vorbeşte Stăpânul Domn: «Într-adevăr, voi trimite împotriva Ierusalimului cele patru judecăţi aspre ale Mele – sabia, foametea, animalele sălbatice şi molima – ca să nimicesc din el atât oamenii, cât şi animalele.

22 y et, lo, there hath been left in it an escape, who are brought forth, sons and daughters, lo, they are coming forth unto you, and ye have seen their way, and their doings, and have been comforted concerning the evil that I have brought in against Jerusalem, all that which I have brought in against it.

Totuşi va fi lăsată o rămăşiţă în el, fii şi fiice care vă vor fi aduse înapoi. Vor veni la voi, iar când le veţi vedea felul de viaţă şi faptele, veţi fi mângâiaţi de nenorocirea pe care am adus-o asupra Ierusalimului, de tot ce am adus asupra lui.

23 A nd they have comforted you, for ye see their way and their doings, and ye have known that not for nought have I done all that which I have done in her -- an affirmation of the Lord Jehovah.'

Când le veţi vedea felul de viaţă şi faptele, vă veţi consola şi veţi şti că nu fără motiv am făcut tot ceea ce am făcut împotriva lui, zice Stăpânul Domn.“
