1 A Song of the Ascents. Remember, Jehovah, for David, all his afflictions.

Doamne, aminteşte-Ţi de David şi de toate necazurile lui,

2 W ho hath sworn to Jehovah. He hath vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

de cel ce I-a jurat Domnului, cel ce I-a făcut un jurământ Puternicului lui Iacov:

3 ` If I enter into the tent of my house, If I go up on the couch of my bed,

„Nu voi intra în cortul căminului meu, nici nu mă voi sui în aşternutul patului meu,

4 I f I give sleep to mine eyes, To mine eyelids -- slumber,

nu voi da somn ochilor mei, nici aţipire pleoapelor mele,

5 T ill I do find a place for Jehovah, Tabernacles for the Mighty One of Jacob.

până când nu voi găsi un loc pentru Domnul, un Lăcaş pentru Puternicul lui Iacov“.

6 ` Lo, we have heard it in Ephratah, We have found it in the fields of the forest.

„Iată, noi am auzit despre el în Efrata şi l-am găsit pe terenurile împădurite.

7 W e come in to His tabernacles, We bow ourselves at His footstool.

Să mergem la Lăcaşul Lui, să ne închinăm la picioarele tronului Său!“

8 A rise, O Jehovah, to Thy rest, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength,

Ridică-Te, Doamne, şi vino în locul Tău de odihnă, Tu şi chivotul tăriei Tale!

9 T hy priests do put on righteousness, And Thy pious ones cry aloud.

Preoţii Tăi să se îmbrace cu dreptate, iar credincioşii Tăi să strige de bucurie.

10 F or the sake of David Thy servant, Turn not back the face of Thine anointed.

Din pricina lui David, robul Tău, nu-Ţi întoarce faţa de la unsul Tău!

11 J ehovah hath sworn truth to David, He turneth not back from it: Of the fruit of thy body, I set on the throne for thee.

Domnul i-a jurat lui David adevărul şi nu se va răzgândi: „Îl voi pune pe tronul tău pe unul dintre urmaşii tăi.

12 I f thy sons keep My covenant, And My testimonies that I teach them, Their sons also for ever and ever, Do sit on the throne for thee.

Dacă fiii tăi vor păzi legământul Meu şi mărturiile Mele, pe care îi voi învăţa, atunci chiar şi fiii lor vor sta pe tronul tău pentru totdeauna“.

13 F or Jehovah hath fixed on Zion, He hath desired for a seat to Himself,

Domnul a ales Sionul, El a dorit să locuiască acolo.

14 T his My rest for ever and ever, Here do I sit, for I have desired it.

„Acesta este locul Meu de odihnă pentru totdeauna. Aici voi locui, căci l-am dorit.

15 H er provision I greatly bless, Her needy ones I satisfy bread,

Îi voi binecuvânta din belşug hrana şi-i voi sătura cu pâine săracii.

16 A nd her priests I clothe salvation, And her pious ones do sing aloud.

Îi voi îmbrăca preoţii cu mântuire, iar credincioşii lui vor striga de bucurie.

17 T here I cause to spring up a horn for David, I have arranged a lamp for Mine anointed.

Acolo îi voi ridica lui David un urmaş şi-i voi aprinde o candelă unsului Meu.

18 H is enemies I do clothe shame, And upon him doth his crown flourish!

Îi voi îmbrăca duşmanii cu ruşine, dar pe fruntea lui va străluci coroana.“
