1 T hen Darius the king made a decree, and they sought in the house of the books of the treasuries placed there in Babylon,

Atunci împăratul Darius a dat ordin să se caute în documentele aflate în arhivele din Babilon.

2 a nd there hath been found at Achmetha, in a palace that in the province of Media, a roll, and a record thus written within it:

El a găsit în palatul din Ahmeta, din provincia Mediei, un sul în care erau scrise următoarele: „Memoriu

3 ` In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king hath made a decree concerning the house of God in Jerusalem: the house let be builded in the place where they are sacrificing sacrifices, and its foundations strongly laid; its height sixty cubits, its breadth sixty cubits;

În primul an de domnie al împăratului Cirus, împăratul Cirus a dat următoarea poruncă cu privire la Casa lui Dumnezeu din Ierusalim: «Casa să fie rezidită, pentru a fi un loc unde să se aducă jertfe şi să-i fie puse temeliile. Să aibă o înălţime de şaizeci de coţi şi o lăţime de şaizeci de coţi;

4 t hree rows of rolled stones, and a row of new wood, and the outlay let be given out of the king's house.

să aibă trei rânduri de piatră cioplită şi un rând de lemn nou. Cheltuielile vor fi suportate de palatul imperial.

5 ` And also, the vessels of the house of God, of gold and silver, that Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple that in Jerusalem, and brought to Babylon, let be given back, and go to the temple that in Jerusalem, to its place, and put down in the house of God.

Mai mult, vasele de aur şi de argint ale Casei lui Dumnezeu, care au fost luate de Nebucadneţar din Templul de la Ierusalim şi aduse la Babilon, să fie duse înapoi la locul lor, în Templul de la Ierusalim; să le puneţi în Casa lui Dumnezeu!»

6 ` Now, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-Boznai, and their companions, the Apharsachites, who beyond the river, be ye far from hence;

Drept urmare, Tatnai, guvernator al provinciei de peste râu, Şetar-Boznai şi camarazii voştri, emisari în provincia de peste râu, depărtaţi-vă de locul acela!

7 l et alone the work of this house of God, let the governor of the Jews, and the elders of the Jews, build this house of God on its place.

Lăsaţi în pace lucrarea de la această Casă a lui Dumnezeu! Lăsaţi-i pe guvernatorul iudeilor şi pe cei din sfatul bătrânilor iudeilor să rezidească această Casă a lui Dumnezeu pe locul ei de odinioară.

8 ` And by me is made a decree concerning that which ye do with the elders of these Jews to build this house of God, that of the riches of the king, that of the tribute beyond the river, speedily let the outlay be given to these men, that they cease not;

Mai mult, dau următoarea poruncă cu privire la ceea ce trebuie să faceţi pentru aceşti bărbaţi din sfatul bătrânilor iudeilor, ca să poată rezidi această Casă a lui Dumnezeu: cheltuielile acestor oameni să fie imediat plătite din veniturile împăratului provenite din tributul provinciei de peste râu, astfel încât să nu înceteze lucrul.

9 a nd what they are needing -- both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs for burnt-offerings to the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil according to the saying of the priests who in Jerusalem -- let be given to them day by day without fail,

Zilnic să se dea preoţilor de la Ierusalim, la cerere, tot ce au nevoie – viţei, berbeci şi miei – pentru arderile de tot aduse Dumnezeului cerurilor, precum şi grâu, sare, vin şi ulei, ca să nu ducă lipsă

10 t hat they be bringing near sweet savours to the God of heaven, and praying for the life of the king, and of his sons.

şi ca astfel să poată aduce jertfe de o aromă plăcută Dumnezeului cerurilor şi să se roage pentru viaţa împăratului şi a fiilor săi.

11 ` And by me is made a decree, that any one who changeth this thing, let wood be pulled down from his house, and being raised up, let him be smitten on it, and his house let be made a dunghill for this.

De asemenea, dau următoarea poruncă cu privire la orice om care va schimba edictul acesta: să se scoată o bârnă din casa lui şi să se ridice bârna ca să fie tras în ţeapă pe ea, iar casa lui să fie prefăcută într-un morman de gunoi din cauza faptei lui.

12 A nd God, who caused His name to dwell there, doth cast down any king and people that putteth forth his hand to change, to destroy this house of God that in Jerusalem; I Darius have made a decree; speedily let it be done.'

Fie ca Dumnezeul Care Şi-a pus Numele să locuiască acolo să răstoarne pe orice împărat sau popor care va încerca să schimbe ceva cu scopul de a distruge această Casă a lui Dumnezeu din Ierusalim! Eu, Darius, am dat această poruncă! Să fie împlinită întocmai!“ Terminarea şi dedicarea Casei Domnului. Paştele

13 T hen Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-Boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king hath sent, so they have done speedily;

Tatnai, guvernatorul provinciei de peste râu, Şetar-Boznai şi camarazii lor au făcut întocmai cum le poruncise împăratul Darius.

14 a nd the elders of the Jews are building and prospering through the prophecy of Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah son of Iddo, and they have built and finished by the decree of the God of Israel, and by the decree of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

Prin urmare, cei din sfatul bătrânilor iudeilor au continuat să zidească şi au reuşit, aşa cum le profeţiseră profetul Hagai şi Zaharia, fiul lui Ido. Ei au zidit şi au terminat potrivit cu porunca Dumnezeului lui Israel şi potrivit cu porunca lui Cirus, a lui Darius şi a lui Artaxerxes, împăraţii Persiei.

15 A nd this house hath gone out till the third day of the month Adar, that is the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

Casa a fost terminată în ziua a treia a lunii Adar, în al şaselea an al domniei împăratului Darius.

16 A nd the sons of Israel have made, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the sons of the captivity, a dedication of this house of God with joy,

Israeliţii – preoţii, leviţii şi ceilalţi care fuseseră în captivitate – au sărbătorit cu bucurie dedicarea acestui Templu al lui Dumnezeu.

17 a nd have brought near for the dedication of this house of God, bullocks a hundred, rams two hundred, lambs four hundred; and young he-goats for a sin-offering for all Israel, twelve, according to the number of the tribes of Israel;

Pentru dedicarea acestei Case a lui Dumnezeu au oferit o sută de viţei, două sute de berbeci şi patru sute de miei, iar ca jertfă pentru păcatul întregului Israel au adus doisprezece ţapi, câte un ţap pentru fiecare seminţie.

18 a nd they have established the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, over the service of God that in Jerusalem, as it is written in the book of Moses.

I-au pus pe preoţi, după cetele lor, şi pe leviţi, după grupele lor, să facă lucrarea lui Dumnezeu la Ierusalim, după cum este scris în Cartea lui Moise.

19 A nd the sons of the captivity make the passover on the fourteenth of the first month,

Cei care fuseseră în captivitate au sărbătorit Paştele în a paisprezecea zi a lunii întâi.

20 f or the priests and the Levites have been purified together -- all of them pure -- and they slaughter the passover for all the sons of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

Preoţii şi leviţii se curăţiseră în acelaşi timp, astfel că toţi erau curaţi. Ei au adus jertfa de Paşte pentru toţi cei ce fuseseră în captivitate, pentru rudele lor dintre preoţi şi pentru ei înşişi.

21 A nd the sons of Israel, those returning from the captivity, and every one who is separated from the uncleanness of the nations of the land unto them, to seek to Jehovah, God of Israel, do eat,

Israeliţii întorşi din captivitate au mâncat jertfa de Paşte împreună cu toţi aceia care se separaseră de necurăţia neamurilor ţării, ca să-L caute pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel.

22 a nd they make the feast of unleavened things seven days with joy, for Jehovah made them to rejoice, and turned round the heart of the king of Asshur unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Au celebrat cu bucurie Sărbătoarea Azimelor timp de şapte zile, căci Domnul îi înveselise întorcând spre ei inima împăratului Asiriei, ca să-i sprijinească în lucrarea de la Casa lui Dumnezeu, a Dumnezeului lui Israel.
