1 I n those days hath Hezekiah been sick unto death, and come in unto him doth Isaiah son of Amoz, the prophet, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah: Give a charge to thy house, for thou dying, and dost not live.'

În acele zile Ezechia s-a îmbolnăvit şi era aproape de moarte. Profetul Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, a venit la el şi i-a zis: „Aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Pune­ţi casa în rânduială căci vei muri. Nu te vei mai face bine!»“

2 A nd Hezekiah turneth round his face unto the wall, and prayeth unto Jehovah,

Atunci Ezechia s-a întors cu faţa spre perete şi s-a rugat Domnului astfel:

3 a nd saith, `I pray thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which good in thine eyes I have done;' and Hezekiah weepeth -- a great weeping.

„ Doamne, Te rog, adu-Ţi aminte că am umblat înaintea Ta cu credincioşie şi din toată inima şi am făcut ce este bine înaintea Ta.“ Şi Ezechia a plâns cu amar.

4 A nd a word of Jehovah is unto Isaiah, saying,

Atunci Cuvântul Domnului a venit la Isaia, spunându-i:

5 G o, and thou hast said to Hezekiah, Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, `I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I am adding to thy days fifteen years,

„Du-te şi spune-i lui Ezechia că aşa vorbeşte Domnul, Dumnezeul strămoşului său David: «Ţi-am auzit rugăciunea şi ţi-am văzut lacrimile. Iată, voi adăuga vieţii tale încă cincisprezece ani.

6 a nd out of the hand of the king of Asshur I deliver thee and this city, and have covered over this city.

Te voi izbăvi pe tine şi cetatea aceasta din mâna împăratului Asiriei şi voi apăra această cetate!

7 A nd this to thee the sign from Jehovah, that Jehovah doth this thing that He hath spoken.

Acesta este semnul de la Domnul pentru tine, prin care vei şti că Domnul va împlini ce a promis:

8 L o, I am bringing back the shadow of the degrees that it hath gone down on the degrees of Ahaz, by the sun, backward ten degrees:' and the sun turneth back ten degrees in the degrees that it had gone down.

voi face ca umbra aruncată de soare pe cadranul lui Ahaz să se dea înapoi cu zece trepte.»“ Şi soarele s-a dat înapoi pe cadran cu zece trepte pe care deja le coborâse.

9 A writing of Hezekiah king of Judah concerning his being sick, when he reviveth from his sickness:

Un psalm al lui Ezechia, regele lui Iuda, scris după boala şi vindecarea sa:

10 ` I -- I said in the cutting off of my days, I go in to the gates of Sheol, I have numbered the remnant of mine years.

„Ziceam: «În floarea vieţii mele trebuie să trec prin porţile Locuinţei Morţilor; sunt văduvit de restul anilor mei.»

11 I said, I do not see Jah -- Jah! In the land of the living, I do not behold man any more, With the inhabitants of the world.

Am zis: «Nu-L voi mai vedea pe Domnul, da, pe Domnul, în ţara celor vii; nu voi mai vedea oameni şi nu voi mai fi printre locuitorii lumii.

12 M y sojourning hath departed, And been removed from me as a shepherd's tent, I have drawn together, as a weaver, my life, By weakness it cutteth me off, From day unto night Thou dost end me.

Locuinţa îmi este smulsă şi luată precum cortul unui păstor. Îmi simt firul vieţii înfăşurat ca de un ţesător care m-ar tăia de la războiul de ţesut; până la noapte Tu îmi vei pune capăt.

13 I have set till morning as a lion, So doth He break all my bones, From day unto night Thou dost end me.

Strig după ajutor până dimineaţă, dar, ca un leu, El îmi zdrobeşte toate oasele; până la noapte Tu îmi vei pune capăt.

14 A s a crane -- a swallow -- so I chatter, I mourn as a dove, Drawn up have been mine eyes on high, O Jehovah, oppression on me, be my surety.

Am ciripit ca un lăstun, am croncănit ca un cocor; am gemut ca o porumbiţă; mi-au obosit ochii uitându-mă în sus. Sunt în necaz! Ajută-mă, Stăpâne!»

15 - - What do I say? seeing He said to me, And He Himself hath wrought, I go softly all my years for the bitterness of my soul.

Ce aş mai putea spune? El mi-a răspuns şi aceasta este ceea ce El a făcut. Voi umbla smerit în toţi anii vieţii mele, după ce mi-a fost amărât sufletul astfel.

16 L ord, by these do live, And by all in them the life of my spirit, And Thou savest me, make me also to live,

O, Stăpâne, prin lucrurile acestea trăiesc oamenii şi în toate acestea stă şi viaţa duhului meu. Tu mi-ai dat sănătate şi ai îngăduit să trăiesc.

17 L o, to peace He changed for me bitterness, And Thou hast delighted in my soul without corruption, For Thou hast cast behind Thy back all my sins.

Cu siguranţă, spre binele meu am trecut prin această amărăciune, căci Tu, în dragostea Ta, mi-ai păzit viaţa de groapa nimicirii, aruncând înapoia Ta toate păcatele mele.

18 F or Sheol doth not confess Thee, Death doth not praise Thee, Those going down to the pit hope not for Thy truth.

Într-adevăr, Locuinţa Morţilor nu-Ţi poate mulţumi, Moartea nu Te poate lăuda, iar cei ce se coboară în groapă nu pot nădăjdui în credincioşia Ta,

19 T he living, the living, he doth confess Thee.

ci cel viu, cel viu Te laudă, aşa cum fac şi eu azi. Taţii îşi învaţă copiii despre credincioşia Ta

20 L ike myself to-day -- a father to sons Doth make known of Thy faithfulness, O Jehovah -- to save me: And my songs we sing all days of our lives In the house of Jehovah.'

prin care, Tu, Doamne, m-ai salvat, iar noi vom cânta cu instrumentele cu corzi în toate zilele vieţii noastre, în Casa Domnului.“

21 A nd Isaiah saith, `Let them take a bunch of figs, and plaster over the ulcer, and he liveth.'

Atunci Isaia a zis: – Pregătiţi o turtă de smochine, pe care s-o aşezaţi pe rană şi astfel Ezechia se va vindeca.

22 A nd Hezekiah saith, `What the sign that I go up to the house of Jehovah!'

Ezechia a întrebat: – Care va fi semnul prin care voi şti că mă voi duce la Casa Domnului ?
