1 A nd Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

Domnul i-a zis lui Moise:

2 ` Speak unto the sons of Israel, and take from them each a rod, for a father's house, from all their princes, for the house of their fathers, twelve rods; the name of each thou dost write on his rod,

„Vorbeşte-le israeliţilor şi ia de la ei câte un toiag, ţinând cont de familiile lor, adică douăsprezece toiege de la toţi conducătorii, potrivit familiilor lor. Scrie numele fiecărui om pe toiagul său

3 a nd Aaron's name thou dost write on the tribe of Levi; for one rod for the head of their fathers' house:

şi scrie numele lui Aaron pe toiagul lui Levi. Să fie câte un toiag de la fiecare căpetenie a familiei lui.

4 a nd thou hast placed them in the tent of meeting, before the testimony, where I meet with you.

Pune-le în Cortul Întâlnirii, înaintea Mărturiei, acolo unde mă întâlnesc cu voi.

5 ` And it hath come to pass, the man's rod on whom I fix doth flourish, and I have caused to cease from off me the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they are murmuring against you.'

Toiagul bărbatului pe care îl voi alege va înflori; aşa voi pune capăt cârtirilor israeliţilor împotriva voastră.“

6 A nd Moses speaketh unto the sons of Israel, and all their princes give unto him one rod for a prince, one rod for a prince, for their fathers' house, twelve rods, and the rod of Aaron in the midst of their rods;

Moise le-a vorbit israeliţilor şi fiecare dintre conducătorii lor i-a dat toiagul, câte unul de fiecare conducător, potrivit familiilor lor, adică douăsprezece toiege; toiagul lui Aaron era între ale lor.

7 a nd Moses placeth the rods before Jehovah, in the tent of the testimony.

Moise a pus toiegele înaintea Domnului, în Cortul Mărturiei.

8 A nd it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that Moses goeth in unto the tent of the testimony, and lo, the rod of Aaron hath flourished for the house of Levi, and is bringing out flourishing, and doth blossom blossoms, and doth produce almonds;

A doua zi Moise a intrat în Cortul Mărturiei şi iată că toiagul lui Aaron, al casei lui Levi, înverzise, înmugurise, înflorise şi avea migdale coapte.

9 a nd Moses bringeth out all the rods from before Jehovah, unto all the sons of Israel, and they look, and take each his rod.

Atunci Moise a luat dinaintea Domnului toate toiegele şi le-a adus înaintea tuturor israeliţilor. Ei s-au uitat şi fiecare şi-a luat toiagul.

10 A nd Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Put back the rod of Aaron, before the testimony, for a charge, for a sign to the sons of rebellion, and thou dost remove their murmurings from off me, and they do not die;'

Domnul i-a zis lui Moise: „Pune înapoi toiagul lui Aaron înaintea Mărturiei; să fie păstrat ca un semn pentru răzvrătiţi ca să se pună astfel capăt cârtirilor lor împotriva Mea şi să nu moară.“

11 a nd Moses doth as Jehovah hath commanded him; so he hath done.

Moise a făcut întocmai; el a făcut aşa cum i-a poruncit Domnul.

12 A nd the sons of Israel speak unto Moses, saying, `Lo, we have expired; we have perished; we have all of us perished;

Israeliţii i-au zis lui Moise: „Iată că murim; pierim, pierim cu toţii!

13 a ny who is at all drawing near unto the tabernacle of Jehovah dieth; have we not been consumed -- to expire?'

Oricine se apropie de Tabernaculul Domnului moare. Vom muri oare toţi?“
