1 A nd king David old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

2 a nd his servants say to him, `Let them seek for my lord the king a young woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath heat.'

3 A nd they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,

Ei au căutat în tot teritoriul lui Israel o tânără frumoasă şi au găsit-o pe Abişag şunamita, pe care au adus-o la rege.

4 a nd the young woman very very fair, and she is to the king a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.

Tânăra era foarte frumoasă. Ea i-a devenit regelui servitoare şi s-a îngrijit de el, dar regele n-a cunoscut-o.

5 A nd Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, `I do reign;' and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,

9 A nd Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth, that by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

10 a nd Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he hath not called.

11 A nd Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, `Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our lord David hath not known?

12 a nd now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon;

13 g o and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

14 L o, thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee, and have completed thy words.'

15 A nd Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

16 a nd Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith, `What -- to thee?'

17 A nd she saith to him, `My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

– Stăpânul meu, a răspuns ea, tu însuţi ai jurat slujitoarei tale pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, spunând: „Solomon, fiul tău, va domni după mine şi el va şedea pe tronul meu!“

18 a nd now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast not known;

Totuşi, acum Adonia domneşte, iar stăpânul meu, regele, nu ştie acest lucru.

19 a nd he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host -- and for Solomon thy servant he hath not called.

El a tăiat vite, viţei îngrăşaţi şi oi în mare număr şi i-a invitat pe toţi fiii regelui, pe preotul Abiatar şi pe Ioab, conducătorul oştirii. Dar pe Solomon, slujitorul tău, nu l-a invitat.

20 A nd thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel on thee, to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

21 a nd it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon -- sinners.'

22 A nd lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

În timp ce vorbea ea cu regele, a venit şi profetul Natan.

23 a nd they declare to the king, saying, `Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on his face to the earth.

L-au înştiinţat pe rege că a sosit profetul Natan. Acesta a venit înaintea regelui şi s-a plecat cu faţa la pământ înaintea lui.

24 A nd Nathan saith, `My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

Natan a zis: – Stăpâne, regele meu, oare ai spus tu că Adonia va domni după tine şi că el va şedea pe tronul tău?

25 f or he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!

Căci el a coborât astăzi, a tăiat vite, viţei îngrăşaţi şi oi în mare număr şi i-a invitat pe toţi fiii regelui, pe conducătorii oştirii şi pe preotul Abiatar. Chiar acum ei mănâncă şi beau înaintea lui şi strigă: „Trăiască regele Adonia!“

26 ` And for me -- me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;

Cu toate acestea, pe mine, slujitorul tău, pe preotul Ţadok, pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, şi pe Solomon, slujitorul tău, nu ne-a invitat.

27 i f from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.'

Oare din porunca stăpânului meu, regele, s-a înfăptuit acest lucru? Să nu-i fi adus la cunoştinţă slujitorului tău cine va sta pe tronul stăpânului meu, regele, după el?

28 A nd king David answereth and saith, `Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.

Regele David a zis: – Chemaţi-o pe Batşeba! Ea a intrat şi s-a înfăţişat înaintea regelui.

29 A nd the king sweareth and saith, `Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

Regele a jurat zicând: – Viu este Domnul Care m-a izbăvit din fiecare necaz

30 s urely as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.'

că voi face astăzi aşa cum ţi-am jurat pe Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, spunând: „Solomon, fiul tău, va domni după mine; el va şedea pe tron în locul meu.“

31 A nd Bath-Sheba boweth -- face to the earth -- and doth obeisance to the king, and saith, `Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'

Batşeba s-a plecat cu faţa la pământ şi s-a închinat înaintea regelui. Apoi a zis: – Trăiască veşnic stăpânul meu, regele David!

32 A nd king David saith, `Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king.

Apoi regele David a zis: „Chemaţi-i pe preotul Ţadok, pe profetul Natan şi pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada!“ Ei au venit înaintea regelui,

33 A nd the king saith to them, `Take with you the servants of your lord, and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon,

iar el le-a poruncit: – Luaţi-i cu voi pe slujitorii stăpânului vostru, puneţi-l pe fiul meu Solomon să călărească pe catârul meu şi duceţi-l la Ghihon.

34 a nd anointed him there hath Zadok the priest -- and Nathan the prophet -- for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;

Preotul Ţadok şi profetul Natan să-l ungă acolo ca rege peste Israel. Să sunaţi din trâmbiţă şi să strigaţi: „Trăiască regele Solomon!“

35 a nd ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'

Apoi mergeţi după el. El să vină şi să se urce pe tronul meu, căci el va domni în locul meu, întrucât cu privire la el am poruncit să fie conducător peste Israel şi peste Iuda.

36 A nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, `Amen! so doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;

Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, i-a răspuns regelui astfel: – Amin! Aşa să hotărască Domnul, Dumnezeul stăpânului meu, regele.

37 a s Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.'

După cum Domnul a fost cu stăpânul meu, regele, tot aşa să fie şi cu Solomon şi să-i înalţe tronul mai presus decât tronul stăpânului meu, regele David.

38 A nd Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon,

Preotul Ţadok, profetul Natan, Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, cheretiţii şi peletiţii au coborât, l-au pus pe Solomon să călărească pe catârul regelui David şi l-au adus la Ghihon.

39 a nd Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, `Let king Solomon live.'

Preotul Ţadok a luat cornul cu untdelemn din Cort şi l-a uns pe Solomon. Apoi au sunat din trâmbiţă şi tot poporul a strigat: „Trăiască regele Solomon!“

40 A nd all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing -- great joy, and the earth rendeth with their voice.

Tot poporul s-a dus după el, cântând din fluiere şi bucurându-se nespus de mult, încât se cutremura pământul de strigătul lor.

41 A nd Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, `Wherefore the noise of the city roaring?'

Adonia împreună cu toţi oaspeţii care erau cu el au auzit strigătul şi s-au oprit din mâncat. Ioab a auzit sunetul trâmbiţei şi a întrebat: „De ce se aude această zarvă în cetate?“

42 H e is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, `Come in, for a man of valour thou, and thou bearest good tidings.'

În timp ce el vorbea, a venit Ionatan, fiul preotului Abiatar. Adonia i-a zis: – Vino, căci tu eşti un om vrednic şi aduci veşti bune!

43 A nd Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, `Verily our lord king David hath caused Solomon to reign,

– Nicidecum, i-a răspuns Ionatan. Stăpânul nostru, regele David, l-a numit rege pe Solomon.

44 a nd the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule,

Regele i-a trimis cu el pe preotul Ţadok, pe profetul Natan, pe Benaia, fiul lui Iehoiada, pe cheretiţi şi pe peletiţi, iar ei l-au pus să călărească pe catârul regelui.

45 a nd they anoint him -- Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet -- for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it the noise that ye have heard.

Preotul Ţadok şi profetul Natan l-au uns rege la Ghihon şi au plecat de acolo bucuroşi, iar cetatea freamătă. Aceasta era zarva pe care aţi auzit-o.

46 ` And also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,

De asemenea, Solomon s-a aşezat pe tronul regal.

47 a nd also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

Iar slujitorii regelui au venit să-l binecuvânteze pe stăpânul nostru, regele David, zicând: „Dumnezeul tău să facă numele lui Solomon mai vestit decât numele tău şi să-i înalţe tronul mai presus decât tronul tău.“ Apoi regele s-a închinat în patul său.

48 a nd also thus hath the king said, Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.'

Regele a mai zis: „Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, Dumnezeul lui Israel, Care mi-a dat astăzi un urmaş care să şadă pe tronul meu şi pe care să-l văd cu ochii mei!“

49 A nd they tremble, and rise -- all those called who for Adonijah -- and go, each on his way;

Toţi oaspeţii care erau cu Adonia au început să tremure, s-au ridicat şi fiecare a luat-o care încotro.

50 a nd Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

Adonia s-a temut de Solomon; s-a sculat, s-a dus la Cort şi s-a prins de coarnele altarului.

51 A nd it is declared to Solomon, saying, `Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon, and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day -- he doth not put to death his servant by the sword.'

Lui Solomon i s-a spus că Adonia se teme de el şi că acesta s-a apucat de coarnele altarului, zicând: „Să-mi jure regele Solomon astăzi că nu-l va omorî pe slujitorul său cu sabia!“

52 A nd Solomon saith, `If he becometh a virtuous man -- there doth not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him -- then he hath died.'

Solomon a răspuns: „Dacă este un om vrednic, nici un fir de păr nu-i va cădea la pământ, dar, dacă se va găsi răutate în el, va muri!“

53 A nd king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, `Go to thy house.'

Regele Solomon şi-a trimis oamenii ca să-l coboare de la altar, iar el a venit şi s-a închinat înaintea regelui Solomon. Solomon i-a zis: „Du-te acasă!“
