1 A nd king David old, entering into days, and they cover him with garments, and he hath no heat,

Quando o rei Davi envelheceu, estando já de idade bem avançada, cobriam-no de cobertores, mas ele não se aquecia.

2 a nd his servants say to him, `Let them seek for my lord the king a young woman, a virgin, and she hath stood before the king, and is to him a companion, and hath lain in thy bosom, and my lord the king hath heat.'

Por isso os seus servos lhe propuseram: “Vamos procurar uma jovem virgem para servir e cuidar do rei. Ela se deitará ao seu lado, a fim de aquecer o rei”.

3 A nd they seek a fair young woman in all the border of Israel, and find Abishag the Shunammite, and bring her in to the king,

Então procuraram em todo o território de Israel uma jovem que fosse bonita e encontraram Abisague, uma sunamita, e a levaram ao rei.

4 a nd the young woman very very fair, and she is to the king a companion, and serveth him, and the king hath not known her.

A jovem, muito bonita, cuidava do rei e o servia, mas o rei não teve relações com ela.

5 A nd Adonijah son of Haggith is lifting himself up, saying, `I do reign;' and he prepareth for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men running before him,

Ora, Adonias, cuja mãe se chamava Hagite, tomou a dianteira e disse: “Eu serei o rei”. Providenciou uma carruagem e cavalos, além de cinqüenta homens para correrem à sua frente.

6 a nd his father hath not grieved him his days, saying, `Wherefore thus hast thou done?' and he also of a very good form, and bare him after Absalom.

Seu pai nunca o havia contrariado; nunca lhe perguntava: “Por que você age assim?” Adonias também tinha boa aparência e havia nascido depois de Absalão.

7 A nd his words are with Joab son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest, and they help after Adonijah;

Adonias fez acordo com Joabe, filho de Zeruia, e com o sacerdote Abiatar, e eles o seguiram e o apoiaram.

8 a nd Zadok the priest, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty ones whom David hath, have not been with Adonijah.

Mas o sacerdote Zadoque, Benaia, filho de Joiada, o profeta Natã, Simei, Reí e a guarda especial de Davi não deram apoio a Adonias.

9 A nd Adonijah sacrificeth sheep and oxen and fatlings near the stone of Zoheleth, that by En-Rogel, and calleth all his brethren, sons of the king, and for all the men of Judah, servants of the king;

Então Adonias sacrificou ovelhas, bois e novilhos gordos junto à pedra de Zoelete, próximo a En-Rogel. Convidou todos os seus irmãos, filhos do rei, e todos os homens de Judá que eram conselheiros do rei,

10 a nd Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty ones, and Solomon his brother, he hath not called.

mas não convidou o profeta Natã nem Benaia nem a guarda especial nem o seu irmão Salomão.

11 A nd Nathan speaketh unto Bath-Sheba, mother of Solomon, saying, `Hast thou not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith hath reigned, and our lord David hath not known?

Natã perguntou então a Bate-Seba, mãe de Salomão: “Você ainda não sabe que Adonias, o filho de Hagite, tornou-se rei, sem que o nosso senhor Davi ficasse sabendo?

12 a nd now, come, let me counsel thee, I pray thee, and deliver thy life, and the life of thy son Solomon;

Agora, vou dar-lhe um conselho para salvar a sua vida e também a vida do seu filho Salomão.

13 g o and enter in unto king David, and thou hast said unto him, Hast thou not, my lord, O king, sworn to thy handmaid, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne? and wherefore hath Adonijah reigned?

Vá perguntar ao rei Davi: Ó rei, meu senhor, não juraste a esta tua serva, prometendo: ‘Pode estar certa de que o seu filho Salomão me sucederá como rei, e se assentará no meu trono’? Por que foi, então, que Adonias se tornou rei?

14 L o, thou are yet speaking there with the king, and I come in after thee, and have completed thy words.'

Enquanto você ainda estiver conversando com o rei, eu entrarei e confirmarei as suas palavras”.

15 A nd Bath-Sheba cometh in unto the king, to the inner chamber, and the king very aged, and Abishag the Shunammite is serving the king:

Então Bate-Seba foi até o quarto do rei, já idoso, onde a sunamita Abisague cuidava dele.

16 a nd Bath-Sheba boweth and doth obeisance to the king, and the king saith, `What -- to thee?'

Bate-Seba ajoelhou-se e prostrou-se, rosto em terra, diante do rei. “O que você quer?”, o rei perguntou.

17 A nd she saith to him, `My lord, thou hast sworn by Jehovah thy God to thy handmaid: Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

Ela respondeu: “Meu senhor, tu mesmo juraste a esta tua serva, pelo Senhor, o teu Deus: ‘Seu filho Salomão me sucederá como rei e se assentará no meu trono’.

18 a nd now, lo, Adonijah hath reigned, and now, my lord, O king, thou hast not known;

Mas agora Adonias se tornou rei, sem que o rei, meu senhor, o soubesse.

19 a nd he sacrificeth ox, and fatling, and sheep in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab head of the host -- and for Solomon thy servant he hath not called.

Ele sacrificou muitos bois, novilhos gordos e ovelhas, e convidou todos os filhos do rei, o sacerdote Abiatar, e Joabe, o comandante do exército, mas não convidou o teu servo Salomão.

20 A nd thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel on thee, to declare to them who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him;

Agora, ó rei, meu senhor, os olhos de todo o Israel estão sobre ti para saber de tua parte quem sucederá ao rei, meu senhor, no trono.

21 a nd it hath been, when my lord the king lieth with his fathers, that I have been, I and my son Solomon -- sinners.'

De outro modo, tão logo o rei, meu senhor, descanse com os seus antepassados, eu e o meu filho Salomão seremos tratados como traidores”.

22 A nd lo, she is yet speaking with the king, and Nathan the prophet hath come in;

Ela ainda conversava com o rei, quando o profeta Natã chegou.

23 a nd they declare to the king, saying, `Lo, Nathan the prophet;' and he cometh in before the king, and boweth himself to the king, on his face to the earth.

Assim que informaram o rei que o profeta Natã havia chegado, ele entrou e prostrou-se, rosto em terra, diante do rei.

24 A nd Nathan saith, `My lord, O king, thou hast said, Adonijah doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne;

E Natã lhe perguntou: “Ó rei, meu senhor, por acaso declaraste que Adonias te sucederia como rei e que ele se assentaria no teu trono?

25 f or he hath gone down to-day, and doth sacrifice ox, and fatling, and sheep, in abundance, and calleth for all the sons of the king, and for the heads of the host, and for Abiathar the priest, and lo, they are eating and drinking before him, and they say, Let king Adonijah live!

Hoje ele foi matar muitos bois, novilhos gordos e ovelhas. Convidou todos os filhos do rei, os comandantes do exército e o sacerdote Abiatar. Agora eles estão comendo e bebendo com ele e celebrando: ‘Viva o rei Adonias!’

26 ` And for me -- me, thy servant, and for Zadok the priest, and for Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, and for Solomon thy servant, he hath not called;

Mas ele não convidou a mim, que sou teu servo, nem ao sacerdote Zadoque, nem a Benaia, filho de Joiada, nem a teu servo Salomão.

27 i f from my lord the king this thing hath been, then thou hast not caused thy servant to know who doth sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.'

Seria isto algo que o rei, meu senhor, fez sem deixar que os seus conselheiros soubessem quem sucederia ao rei, meu senhor, no trono?” O Início do Reinado de Salomão

28 A nd king David answereth and saith, `Call for me for Bath-Sheba;' and she cometh in before the king, and standeth before the king.

Então o rei Davi ordenou: “Chamem Bate-Seba”. Ela entrou e ficou em pé diante dele.

29 A nd the king sweareth and saith, `Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity;

O rei fez um juramento: “Juro pelo nome do Senhor, o qual me livrou de todas as adversidades,

30 s urely as I sware to thee by Jehovah, God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon thy son doth reign after me, and he doth sit on my throne in my stead; surely so I do this day.'

que, sem dúvida, hoje mesmo vou executar o que jurei pelo Senhor, o Deus de Israel. O meu filho Salomão me sucederá como rei e se assentará no meu trono em meu lugar”.

31 A nd Bath-Sheba boweth -- face to the earth -- and doth obeisance to the king, and saith, `Let my lord, king David, live to the age.'

Então Bate-Seba prostrou-se, rosto em terra, e, ajoelhando-se diante do rei, disse: “Que o rei Davi, meu senhor, viva para sempre!”

32 A nd king David saith, `Call for me for Zadok the priest, and for Nathan the prophet, and for Benaiah son of Jehoiada;' and they come in before the king.

O rei Davi ordenou: “Chamem o sacerdote Zadoque, o profeta Natã e Benaia, filho de Joiada”. Quando eles chegaram à presença do rei,

33 A nd the king saith to them, `Take with you the servants of your lord, and ye have caused Solomon my son to ride on mine own mule, and caused him to go down unto Gihon,

ele os instruiu: “Levem os conselheiros do seu senhor com vocês, ponham o meu filho Salomão sobre a minha mula e levem-no a Giom.

34 a nd anointed him there hath Zadok the priest -- and Nathan the prophet -- for king over Israel, and ye have blown with a trumpet, and said, Let king Solomon live;

Ali o sacerdote Zadoque e o profeta Natã o ungirão rei sobre Israel. Nesse momento toquem a trombeta e gritem: Viva o rei Salomão!

35 a nd ye have come up after him, and he hath come in and hath sat on my throne, and he doth reign in my stead, and him I have appointed to be leader over Israel, and over Judah.'

Depois acompanhem-no, e ele virá assentar-se no meu trono e reinará em meu lugar. Eu o designei para governar Israel e Judá”.

36 A nd Benaiah son of Jehoiada answereth the king, and saith, `Amen! so doth Jehovah, God of my lord the king, say;

Benaia, filho de Joiada, respondeu ao rei: “Assim se fará! Que o Senhor, o Deus do rei, meu senhor, o confirme.

37 a s Jehovah hath been with my lord the king, so is He with Solomon, and doth make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David.'

Assim como o Senhor esteve com o rei, meu senhor, também esteja ele com Salomão para que ele tenha um reinado ainda mais glorioso que o reinado de meu senhor, o rei Davi!”

38 A nd Zadok the priest goeth down, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause Solomon to ride on the mule of king David, and cause him to go unto Gihon,

Então o sacerdote Zadoque, o profeta Natã, Benaia, filho de Joiada, os queretitas e os peletitas fizeram Salomão montar a mula do rei Davi e o escoltaram até Giom.

39 a nd Zadok the priest taketh the horn of oil out of the tent, and anointeth Solomon, and they blow with a trumpet, and all the people say, `Let king Solomon live.'

O sacerdote Zadoque pegou na Tenda o chifre com óleo e ungiu Salomão. A seguir tocaram a trombeta e todo o povo gritou: “Viva o rei Salomão!”

40 A nd all the people come up after him, and the people are piping with pipes, and rejoicing -- great joy, and the earth rendeth with their voice.

E todo o povo o acompanhou, tocando flautas e celebrando, de tal forma que o chão tremia com o barulho.

41 A nd Adonijah heareth, and all those called, who with him, and they have finished to eat, and Joab heareth the noise of the trumpet, and saith, `Wherefore the noise of the city roaring?'

Adonias e todos os seus convidados souberam disso quando estavam terminando o banquete. Ao ouvir o toque da trombeta, Joabe perguntou: “O que significa essa gritaria, esse alvoroço na cidade?”

42 H e is yet speaking, and lo, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest hath come in, and Adonijah saith, `Come in, for a man of valour thou, and thou bearest good tidings.'

Falava ele ainda, quando chegou Jônatas, filho do sacerdote Abiatar. E Adonias lhe disse: “Entre, pois um homem digno como você deve estar trazendo boas notícias!”

43 A nd Jonathan answereth and saith to Adonijah, `Verily our lord king David hath caused Solomon to reign,

“De modo algum”, respondeu Jônatas a Adonias. “Davi, o nosso rei e senhor, constituiu rei a Salomão.

44 a nd the king sendeth with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethite, and the Pelethite, and they cause him to ride on the king's mule,

O rei enviou com ele o sacerdote Zadoque, o profeta Natã, Benaia, filho de Joiada, os queretitas e os peletitas, e eles o fizeram montar a mula do rei.

45 a nd they anoint him -- Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet -- for king in Gihon, and are come up thence rejoicing, and the city is moved; it the noise that ye have heard.

Depois o sacerdote Zadoque e o profeta Natã o ungiram rei em Giom. De lá eles saíram celebrando, e a cidade está alvoroçada. É esse o barulho que vocês ouvem.

46 ` And also Solomon hath sat on the throne of the kingdom,

Além disso, Salomão já se assentou no trono real.

47 a nd also the servants of the king have come into bless our lord king David, saying, Thy God doth make the name of Solomon better than thy name, and his throne greater than thy throne; and the king boweth himself on the bed,

Até mesmo os oficiais do rei foram cumprimentar Davi, o nosso rei e senhor, dizendo: ‘Que o teu Deus torne o nome de Salomão mais famoso que o teu, e o seu reinado mais glorioso do que o teu!’ E o rei curvou-se reverentemente em sua cama,

48 a nd also thus hath the king said, Blessed Jehovah, God of Israel, who hath given to-day sitting on my throne, and mine eyes seeing.'

e disse: ‘Bendito seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, que permitiu que os meus olhos vissem hoje um sucessor em meu trono’”.

49 A nd they tremble, and rise -- all those called who for Adonijah -- and go, each on his way;

Diante disso, todos os convidados de Adonias entraram em pânico e se dispersaram.

50 a nd Adonijah feareth because of Solomon, and riseth, and goeth, and layeth hold on the horns of the altar.

Mas Adonias, com medo de Salomão, foi agarrar-se às pontas do altar.

51 A nd it is declared to Solomon, saying, `Lo, Adonijah feareth king Solomon, and lo, he hath laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let king Solomon swear to me as to-day -- he doth not put to death his servant by the sword.'

Então informaram a Salomão: “Adonias está com medo do rei Salomão e está agarrado às pontas do altar. Ele diz: ‘Que o rei Salomão jure que não matará este seu servo pela espada’”.

52 A nd Solomon saith, `If he becometh a virtuous man -- there doth not fall of his hair to the earth, and if evil is found in him -- then he hath died.'

Salomão respondeu: “Se ele se mostrar confiável, não cairá nem um só fio de cabelo da sua cabeça; mas se nele se descobrir alguma maldade, ele morrerá”.

53 A nd king Solomon sendeth, and they bring him down from off the altar, and he cometh in and boweth himself to king Solomon, and Solomon saith to him, `Go to thy house.'

Então o rei enviou alguns soldados, e eles o fizeram descer do altar. E Adonias veio e se curvou solenemente perante o rei Salomão, que lhe disse: “Vá para casa”.
