1 T o the Overseer. -- A Psalm of David. O the happiness of him Who is acting wisely unto the poor, In a day of evil doth Jehovah deliver him.

Como é feliz aquele que se interessa pelo pobre! O Senhor o livra em tempos de adversidade.

2 J ehovah doth preserve him and revive him, He is happy in the land, And Thou givest him not into the will of his enemies.

O Senhor o protegerá e preservará a sua vida; ele o fará feliz na terra e não o entregará ao desejo dos seus inimigos.

3 J ehovah supporteth on a couch of sickness, All his bed Thou hast turned in his weakness.

O Senhor o susterá em seu leito de enfermidade, e da doença o restaurará.

4 I -- I said, `O Jehovah, favour me, Heal my soul, for I did sin against Thee,'

Eu disse: Misericórdia, Senhor, cura-me, pois pequei contra ti.

5 M ine enemies say evil of me: When he dieth -- his name hath perished!

Os meus inimigos dizem maldosamente a meu respeito: “Quando ele vai morrer? Quando vai desaparecer o seu nome?”

6 A nd if he came to see -- vanity he speaketh, His heart gathereth iniquity to itself, He goeth out -- at the street he speaketh.

Sempre que alguém vem visitar-me, fala com falsidade, enche o coração de calúnias e depois as espalha por onde vai.

7 A ll hating me whisper together against me, Against me they devise evil to me:

Todos os que me odeiam juntam-se e cochicham contra mim, imaginando que o pior me acontecerá:

8 A thing of Belial is poured out on him, And because he lay down he riseth not again.

“Uma praga terrível o derrubou; está de cama, e jamais se levantará”.

9 E ven mine ally, in whom I trusted, One eating my bread, made great the heel against me,

Até o meu melhor amigo, em quem eu confiava e que partilhava do meu pão, voltou-se contra mim.

10 A nd Thou, Jehovah, favour me, And cause me to rise, And I give recompence to them.

Mas, tu, Senhor, tem misericórdia de mim; levanta-me, para que eu lhes retribua.

11 B y this I have known, That Thou hast delighted in me, Because my enemy shouteth not over me.

Sei que me queres bem, pois o meu inimigo não triunfa sobre mim.

12 A s to me, in mine integrity, Thou hast taken hold upon me, And causest me to stand before Thee to the age.

Por causa da minha integridade me susténs e me pões na tua presença para sempre.

13 B lessed Jehovah, God of Israel, From the age -- and unto the age. Amen and Amen.

Louvado seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, de eternidade a eternidade! Amém e amém!
