1 A nd immediately, in the morning, the chief priests having made a consultation, with the elders, and scribes, and the whole sanhedrim, having bound Jesus, did lead away, and delivered to Pilate;
De manhã bem cedo, os chefes dos sacerdotes com os líderes religiosos, os mestres da lei e todo o Sinédrio chegaram a uma decisão. Amarrando Jesus, levaram-no e o entregaram a Pilatos.
2 a nd Pilate questioned him, `Art thou the king of the Jews?' and he answering said to him, `Thou dost say.'
“Você é o rei dos judeus?”, perguntou Pilatos. “Tu o dizes”, respondeu Jesus.
3 A nd the chief priests were accusing him of many things,
Os chefes dos sacerdotes o acusavam de muitas coisas.
4 A nd Pilate again questioned him, saying, `Thou dost not answer anything! lo, how many things they do testify against thee!'
Então Pilatos lhe perguntou novamente: “Você não vai responder? Veja de quantas coisas o estão acusando”.
5 a nd Jesus did no more answer anything, so that Pilate wondered.
Mas Jesus não respondeu nada, e Pilatos ficou impressionado.
6 A nd at every feast he was releasing to them one prisoner, whomsoever they were asking;
Por ocasião da festa, era costume soltar um prisioneiro que o povo pedisse.
7 a nd there was named Barabbas, bound with those making insurrection with him, who had in the insurrection committed murder.
Um homem chamado Barrabás estava na prisão com os rebeldes que haviam cometido assassinato durante uma rebelião.
8 A nd the multitude having cried out, began to ask for themselves as he was always doing to them,
A multidão chegou e pediu a Pilatos que lhe fizesse o que costumava fazer.
9 a nd Pilate answered them, saying, `Will ye I shall release to you the king of the Jews?'
“Vocês querem que eu lhes solte o rei dos judeus?”, perguntou Pilatos,
10 f or he knew that because of envy the chief priests had delivered him up;
sabendo que fora por inveja que os chefes dos sacerdotes lhe haviam entregado Jesus.
11 a nd the chief priests did move the multitude, that he might rather release Barabbas to them.
Mas os chefes dos sacerdotes incitaram a multidão a pedir que Pilatos, ao contrário, soltasse Barrabás.
12 A nd Pilate answering, again said to them, `What, then, will ye I shall do to him whom ye call king of the Jews?'
“Então, que farei com aquele a quem vocês chamam rei dos judeus?”, perguntou-lhes Pilatos.
13 a nd they again cried out, `Crucify him.'
“Crucifica-o!”, gritaram eles.
14 A nd Pilate said to them, `Why -- what evil did he?' and they cried out the more vehemently, `Crucify him;'
“Por quê? Que crime ele cometeu?”, perguntou Pilatos. Mas eles gritavam ainda mais: “Crucifica-o!”
15 a nd Pilate, wishing to content the multitude, released to them Barabbas, and delivered up Jesus -- having scourged -- that he might be crucified.
Desejando agradar a multidão, Pilatos soltou-lhes Barrabás, mandou açoitar Jesus e o entregou para ser crucificado. Os Soldados Zombam de Jesus
16 A nd the soldiers led him away into the hall, which is Praetorium, and call together the whole band,
Os soldados levaram Jesus para dentro do palácio, isto é, ao Pretório, e reuniram toda a tropa.
17 a nd clothe him with purple, and having plaited a crown of thorns, they put on him,
Vestiram-no com um manto de púrpura, depois fizeram uma coroa de espinhos e a colocaram nele.
18 a nd began to salute him, `Hail, King of the Jews.'
E começaram a saudá-lo: “Salve, rei dos judeus!”
19 A nd they were smiting him on the head with a reed, and were spitting on him, and having bent the knee, were bowing to him,
Batiam-lhe na cabeça com uma vara e cuspiam nele. Ajoelhavam-se e lhe prestavam adoração.
20 a nd when they mocked him, they took the purple from off him, and clothed him in his own garments, and they led him forth, that they may crucify him.

21 A nd they impress a certain one passing by -- Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus -- that he may bear his cross,
Certo homem de Cirene, chamado Simão, pai de Alexandre e de Rufo, passava por ali, chegando do campo. Eles o forçaram a carregar a cruz.
22 a nd they bring him to the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, `Place of a skull;'
Levaram Jesus ao lugar chamado Gólgota, que quer dizer lugar da Caveira.
23 a nd they were giving him to drink wine mingled with myrrh, and he did not receive.
Então lhe deram vinho misturado com mirra, mas ele não o bebeu.
24 A nd having crucified him, they were dividing his garments, casting a lot upon them, what each may take;
E o crucificaram. Dividindo as roupas dele, tiraram sortes para saber com o que cada um iria ficar.
25 a nd it was the third hour, and they crucified him;
Eram nove horas da manhã quando o crucificaram.
26 a nd the inscription of his accusation was written above -- `The King of the Jews.'

27 A nd with him they crucify two robbers, one on the right hand, and one on his left,

28 a nd the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, `And with lawless ones he was numbered.'

29 A nd those passing by were speaking evil of him, shaking their heads, and saying, `Ah, the thrower down of the sanctuary, and in three days the builder!
Os que passavam lançavam-lhe insultos, balançando a cabeça e dizendo: “Ora, você que destrói o templo e o reedifica em três dias,
30 s ave thyself, and come down from the cross!'
desça da cruz e salve-se a si mesmo!”
31 A nd in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, `Others he saved; himself he is not able to save.
Da mesma forma, os chefes dos sacerdotes e os mestres da lei zombavam dele entre si, dizendo: “Salvou os outros, mas não é capaz de salvar a si mesmo!
32 T he Christ! the king of Israel -- let him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe;' and those crucified with him were reproaching him.
O Cristo, o Rei de Israel... Desça da cruz, para que o vejamos e creiamos!” Os que foram crucificados com ele também o insultavam. A Morte de Jesus
33 A nd the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land till the ninth hour,

34 a nd at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, `Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?' which is, being interpreted, `My God, my God, why didst Thou forsake me?'
Por volta das três horas da tarde, Jesus bradou em alta voz: “Eloí, Eloí, lamá sabactâni?”, que significa “Meu Deus! Meu Deus! Por que me abandonaste?”
35 A nd certain of those standing by, having heard, said, `Lo, Elijah he doth call;'
Quando alguns dos que estavam presentes ouviram isso, disseram: “Ouçam! Ele está chamando Elias”.
36 a nd one having run, and having filled a spunge with vinegar, having put also on a reed, was giving him to drink, saying, `Let alone, let us see if Elijah doth come to take him down.'
Um deles correu, embebeu uma esponja em vinagre, colocou-a na ponta de uma vara e deu-a a Jesus para beber. E disse: “Deixem-no. Vejamos se Elias vem tirá-lo daí”.
37 A nd Jesus having uttered a loud cry, yielded the spirit,
Mas Jesus, com um alto brado, expirou.
38 a nd the veil of the sanctuary was rent in two, from top to bottom,
E o véu do santuário rasgou-se em duas partes, de alto a baixo.
39 a nd the centurion who was standing over-against him, having seen that, having so cried out, he yielded the spirit, said, `Truly this man was Son of God.'
Quando o centurião que estava em frente de Jesus ouviu o seu brado e viu como ele morreu, disse: “Realmente este homem era o Filho de Deus!”
40 A nd there were also women afar off beholding, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,
Algumas mulheres estavam observando de longe. Entre elas estavam Maria Madalena, Salomé e Maria, mãe de Tiago, o mais jovem, e de José.
41 ( who also, when he was in Galilee, were following him, and were ministering to him,) and many other women who came up with him to Jerusalem.
Na Galiléia elas tinham seguido e servido a Jesus. Muitas outras mulheres que tinham subido com ele para Jerusalém também estavam ali. O Sepultamento de Jesus
42 A nd now evening having come, seeing it was the preparation, that is, the fore-sabbath,
Era o Dia da Preparação, isto é, a véspera do sábado,
43 J oseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, who also himself was waiting for the reign of God, came, boldly entered in unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.
José de Arimatéia, membro de destaque do Sinédrio, que também esperava o Reino de Deus, dirigiu-se corajosamente a Pilatos e pediu o corpo de Jesus.
44 A nd Pilate wondered if he were already dead, and having called near the centurion, did question him if he were long dead,
Pilatos ficou surpreso ao ouvir que ele já tinha morrido. Chamando o centurião, perguntou-lhe se Jesus já tinha morrido.
45 a nd having known from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Sendo informado pelo centurião, entregou o corpo a José.
46 A nd he, having brought fine linen, and having taken him down, wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that had been hewn out of a rock, and he rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre,
Então José comprou um lençol de linho, baixou o corpo da cruz, envolveu-o no lençol e o colocou num sepulcro cavado na rocha. Depois, fez rolar uma pedra sobre a entrada do sepulcro.
47 a nd Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of Joses, were beholding where he is laid.
Maria Madalena e Maria, mãe de José, viram onde ele fora colocado.
