1 A nd Saul speaketh unto Jonathan his son, and unto all his servants, to put David to death,

Saul falou a seu filho Jônatas e a todos os seus conselheiros sobre a sua intenção de matar Davi. Jônatas, porém, gostava muito de Davi

2 a nd Jonathan son of Saul delighted exceedingly in David, and Jonathan declareth to David, saying, `Saul my father is seeking to put thee to death, and, now, take heed, I pray thee, in the morning, and thou hast abode in a secret place, and been hidden,

e o alertou: “Meu pai está procurando uma oportunidade para matá-lo. Tenha cuidado amanhã cedo. Vá para um esconderijo e fique por lá.

3 a nd I -- I go out, and have stood by the side of my father in the field where thou, and I speak of thee unto my father, and have seen what, and have declared to thee.'

Sairei e ficarei com meu pai no campo onde você estiver. Falarei a ele sobre você e, depois, contarei a você o que eu descobrir”.

4 A nd Jonathan speaketh good of David unto Saul his father, and saith unto him, `Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works for thee very good;

Jônatas falou bem de Davi a Saul, seu pai, e lhe disse: “Que o rei não faça mal a seu servo Davi; ele não lhe fez mal nenhum. Ao contrário, o que ele fez trouxe grandes benefícios ao rei.

5 y ea, he putteth his life in his hand, and smiteth the Philistine, and Jehovah worketh a great salvation for all Israel; thou hast seen, and dost rejoice, and why dost thou sin against innocent blood, to put David to death for nought?'

Ele arriscou a vida quando matou o filisteu. O Senhor trouxe grande vitória para todo o Israel; tu mesmo viste tudo e ficaste contente. Por que, então, farias mal a um inocente como Davi, matando-o sem motivo?”

6 A nd Saul hearkeneth to the voice of Jonathan, and Saul sweareth, `Jehovah liveth -- he doth not die.'

Saul atendeu a Jônatas e fez este juramento: “Juro pelo nome do Senhor que Davi não será morto”.

7 A nd Jonathan calleth for David, and Jonathan declareth to him all these words, and Jonathan bringeth in David unto Saul, and he is before him as heretofore.

Então Jônatas chamou Davi e lhe contou a conversa toda. Levou-o até Saul, e Davi voltou a servir a Saul como anteriormente.

8 A nd there addeth to be war, and David goeth out and fighteth against the Philistines, and smiteth among them -- a great smiting, and they flee from his face.

E houve guerra outra vez, e Davi foi lutar contra os filisteus. Ele lhes impôs uma grande derrota, e eles fugiram dele.

9 A nd a spirit of sadness Jehovah is unto Saul, and he is sitting in his house, and his javelin in his hand, and David is playing with the hand,

Mas um espírito maligno mandado pelo Senhor apoderou-se de Saul quando ele estava sentado em sua casa, com sua lança na mão. Enquanto Davi estava tocando harpa,

10 a nd Saul seeketh to smite with the javelin through David, and through the wall, and he freeth himself from the presence of Saul, and he smiteth the javelin through the wall; and David hath fled and escapeth during that night.

Saul tentou encravá-lo na parede com sua lança, mas Davi desviou-se e a lança encravou na parede. E Davi conseguiu escapar. Naquela mesma noite,

11 A nd Saul sendeth messengers unto the house of David to watch him, and to put him to death in the morning; and Michal his wife declareth to David, saying, `If thou art not delivering thy life to-night -- tomorrow thou art put to death.'

Saul enviou alguns homens à casa de Davi para vigiá-lo e matá-lo de manhã; mas Mical, a mulher de Davi, o alertou: “Se você não fugir esta noite para salvar sua vida, amanhã estará morto”.

12 A nd Michal causeth David to go down through the window, and he goeth on, and fleeth, and escapeth;

Então Mical fez Davi descer por uma janela, e ele fugiu.

13 a nd Michal taketh the teraphim, and layeth on the bed, and the mattress of goats' she hath put his pillows, and covereth with a garment.

Depois Mical pegou um ídolo do clã e o deitou na cama, pôs uma almofada de pêlos de cabra na cabeceira e o cobriu com um manto.

14 A nd Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and she saith, `He sick.'

Quando chegaram os homens que Saul tinha enviado para prenderem Davi, Mical disse: “Ele está doente”.

15 A nd Saul sendeth the messengers to see David, saying, `Bring him up in the bed unto me,' -- to put him to death.

Então Saul enviou os homens de volta para verem Davi, dizendo: “Tragam-no até aqui em sua cama para que eu o mate”.

16 A nd the messengers come in, and lo, the teraphim on the bed, and the mattress of goats', his pillows.

Quando, porém, os homens entraram, o ídolo do clã estava na cama, e na cabeceira havia uma almofada de pêlos de cabra.

17 A nd Saul saith unto Michal, `Why thus hast thou deceived me -- that thou dost send away mine enemy, and he is escaped?' and Michal saith unto Saul, `He said unto me, Send me away: why do I put thee to death?'

Saul disse a Mical: “Por que você me enganou desse modo e deixou que o meu inimigo escapasse?” Ela lhe respondeu: “Ele me disse que o deixasse fugir, se não me mataria.”

18 A nd David hath fled, and is escaped, and cometh in unto Samuel to Ramath, and declareth to him all that Saul hath done to him, and he goeth, he and Samuel, and they dwell in Naioth.

Depois que fugiu, Davi foi falar com Samuel em Ramá e lhe contou tudo o que Saul lhe havia feito. Então ele e Samuel foram a Naiote e ficaram lá.

19 A nd it is declared to Saul, saying, `Lo, David in Naioth in Ramah.'

E Saul foi informado: “Davi está em Naiote, em Ramá”, disseram-lhe.

20 A nd Saul sendeth messengers to take David, and they see the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing, set over them, and the Spirit of God is on Saul's messengers, and they prophesy -- they also.

Então Saul enviou alguns homens para capturá-lo. Todavia, quando viram um grupo de profetas profetizando, dirigidos por Samuel, o Espírito de Deus apoderou-se dos mensageiros de Saul, e eles também entraram em transe.

21 A nd they declare to Saul, and he sendeth other messengers, and they prophesy -- they also; and Saul addeth and sendeth messengers a third time, and they prophesy -- they also.

Contaram isso a Saul, e ele enviou mais mensageiros, e estes também entraram em transe. Depois mandou um terceiro grupo e eles também entraram em transe.

22 A nd he goeth -- he also -- to Ramath, and cometh in unto the great well which in Sechu, and asketh, and saith, `Where Samuel and David?' and saith, `Lo, in Naioth in Ramah.'

Finalmente, ele mesmo foi para Ramá. Chegando à grande cisterna do lugar chamado Seco, perguntou onde estavam Samuel e Davi. E lhe responderam: “Em Naiote de Ramá”.

23 A nd he goeth thither -- unto Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God is upon him -- him also; and he goeth, going on, and he prophesyeth till his coming in to Naioth in Ramah,

Então Saul foi para lá. Entretanto, o Espírito de Deus apoderou-se dele, e ele foi andando pelo caminho em transe, até chegar a Naiote.

24 a nd he strippeth off -- he also -- his garments, and prophesieth -- he also -- before Samuel, and falleth down naked all that day and all the night; therefore they say, `Is Saul also among the prophets?'

Despindo-se de suas roupas, também profetizou na presença de Samuel, e, despido, ficou deitado todo aquele dia e toda aquela noite. Por isso, o povo diz: “Está Saul também entre os profetas?”
