1 T o the Overseer. -- By a servant of Jehovah, by David, who hath spoken to Jehovah the words of this song in the day Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul, and he saith: -- I love Thee, O Jehovah, my strength.

Eu te amo, ó Senhor, minha força.

2 J ehovah my rock, and my bulwark, And my deliverer, My God my rock, I trust in Him: My shield, and a horn of my salvation, My high tower.

O Senhor é a minha rocha, a minha fortaleza e o meu libertador; o meu Deus é o meu rochedo, em quem me refugio. Ele é o meu escudo e o poder que me salva, a minha torre alta.

3 T he `Praised One' I call Jehovah, And from my enemies I am saved.

Clamo ao Senhor, que é digno de louvor, e estou salvo dos meus inimigos.

4 C ompassed me have cords of death, And streams of the worthless make me afraid.

As cordas da morte me enredaram; as torrentes da destruição me surpreenderam.

5 C ords of Sheol have surrounded me, Before me have been snares of death.

As cordas do Sheol me envolveram; os laços da morte me alcançaram.

6 I n mine adversity I call Jehovah, And unto my God I cry. He heareth from His temple my voice, And My cry before Him cometh into His ears.

Na minha aflição clamei ao Senhor; gritei por socorro ao meu Deus. Do seu templo ele ouviu a minha voz; meu grito chegou à sua presença, aos seus ouvidos.

7 A nd shake and tremble doth the earth, And foundations of hills are troubled, And they shake -- because He hath wrath.

A terra tremeu e agitou-se, e os fundamentos dos montes se abalaram; estremeceram porque ele se irou.

8 G one up hath smoke by His nostrils, And fire from His mouth consumeth, Coals have been kindled by it.

Das suas narinas subiu fumaça; da sua boca saíram brasas vivas e fogo consumidor.

9 A nd He inclineth the heavens, and cometh down, And thick darkness under His feet.

Ele abriu os céus e desceu; nuvens escuras estavam sob os seus pés.

10 A nd He rideth on a cherub, and doth fly, And He flieth on wings of wind.

Montou um querubim e voou, deslizando sobre as asas do vento.

11 H e maketh darkness His secret place, Round about Him His tabernacle, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

Fez das trevas o seu esconderijo, das escuras nuvens, cheias de água, o abrigo que o envolvia.

12 F rom the brightness over-against Him His thick clouds have passed on, Hail and coals of fire.

Com o fulgor da sua presença as nuvens se desfizeram em granizo e raios,

13 A nd thunder in the heavens doth Jehovah, And the Most High giveth forth His voice, Hail and coals of fire.

quando dos céus trovejou o Senhor, e ressoou a voz do Altíssimo.

14 A nd He sendeth His arrows and scattereth them, And much lightning, and crusheth them.

Atirou suas flechas e dispersou meus inimigos, com seus raios os derrotou.

15 A nd seen are the streams of waters, And revealed are foundations of the earth. From Thy rebuke, O Jehovah, From the breath of the spirit of Thine anger.

O fundo do mar apareceu, e os fundamentos da terra foram expostos pela tua repreensão, ó Senhor, com o forte sopro das tuas narinas.

16 H e sendeth from above -- He taketh me, He draweth me out of many waters.

Das alturas estendeu a mão e me segurou; tirou-me das águas profundas.

17 H e delivereth me from my strong enemy, And from those hating me, For they have been stronger than I.

Livrou-me do meu inimigo poderoso, dos meus adversários, fortes demais para mim.

18 T hey go before me in a day of my calamity And Jehovah is for a support to me.

Eles me atacaram no dia da minha desgraça, mas o Senhor foi o meu amparo.

19 A nd He bringeth me forth to a large place, He draweth me out, because He delighted in me.

Ele me deu total libertação; livrou-me porque me quer bem.

20 J ehovah doth recompense me According to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, He doth return to me.

O Senhor me tratou conforme a minha justiça; conforme a pureza das minhas mãos recompensou-me.

21 F or I have kept the ways of Jehovah, And have not done wickedly against my God.

Pois segui os caminhos do Senhor; não agi como ímpio, afastando-me do meu Deus.

22 F or all His judgments before me, And His statutes I turn not from me.

Todas as suas ordenanças estão diante de mim; não me desviei dos seus decretos.

23 A nd I am perfect with him, And I keep myself from mine iniquity.

Tenho sido irrepreensível para com ele e guardei-me de praticar o mal.

24 A nd Jehovah doth return to me, According to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, Over-against his eyes.

O Senhor me recompensou conforme a minha justiça, conforme a pureza das minhas mãos diante dos seus olhos.

25 W ith the kind Thou showest Thyself kind, With a perfect man showest Thyself perfect.

Ao fiel te revelas fiel, ao irrepreensível te revelas irrepreensível,

26 W ith the pure Thou showest Thyself pure, And with the perverse showest Thyself a wrestler,

ao puro te revelas puro, mas com o perverso reages à altura.

27 F or Thou a poor people savest, And the eyes of the high causest to fall.

Salvas os que são humildes, mas humilhas os de olhos altivos.

28 F or Thou -- Thou lightest my lamp, Jehovah my God enlighteneth my darkness.

Tu, Senhor, manténs acesa a minha lâmpada; o meu Deus transforma em luz as minhas trevas.

29 F or by Thee I run -- a troop! And by my God I leap a wall.

Com o teu auxílio posso atacar uma tropa; com o meu Deus posso transpor muralhas.

30 G od! perfect His way, The saying of Jehovah is tried, A shield He to all those trusting in Him.

Este é o Deus cujo caminho é perfeito; a palavra do Senhor é comprovadamente genuína. Ele é um escudo para todos os que nele se refugiam.

31 F or who God besides Jehovah? And who a rock save our God?

Pois quem é Deus além do Senhor ? E quem é rocha senão o nosso Deus?

32 G od! who is girding me strength, And He maketh perfect my way.

Ele é o Deus que me reveste de força e torna perfeito o meu caminho.

33 M aking my feet like hinds, And on my high places causeth me to stand.

Torna os meus pés ágeis como os da corça, sustenta-me firme nas alturas.

34 T eaching my hands for battle, And a bow of brass was brought down by my arms.

Ele treina as minhas mãos para a batalha e os meus braços para vergar um arco de bronze.

35 A nd Thou givest to me the shield of Thy salvation, And Thy right hand doth support me, And Thy lowliness maketh me great.

Tu me dás o teu escudo de vitória; tua mão direita me sustém; desces ao meu encontro para exaltar-me.

36 T hou enlargest my step under me, And mine ankles have not slidden.

Deixaste livre o meu caminho, para que não se torçam os meus tornozelos.

37 I pursue mine enemies, and overtake them, And turn back not till they are consumed.

Persegui os meus inimigos e os alcancei; e não voltei enquanto não foram destruídos.

38 I smite them, and they are not able to rise, They fall under my feet,

Massacrei-os, e não puderam levantar-se; jazem debaixo dos meus pés.

39 A nd Thou girdest me strength for battle, Causest my withstanders to bow under me.

Deste-me força para o combate; subjugaste os que se rebelaram contra mim.

40 A s to mine enemies -- Thou hast given to me the neck, As to those hating me -- I cut them off.

Puseste os meus inimigos em fuga e exterminei os que me odiavam.

41 T hey cry, and there is no saviour, On Jehovah, and He doth not answer them.

Gritaram por socorro, mas não houve quem os salvasse; clamaram ao Senhor, mas ele não respondeu.

42 A nd I beat them as dust before wind, As mire of the streets I empty them out.

Eu os reduzi a pó, pó que o vento leva. Pisei-os como à lama das ruas.

43 T hou dost deliver me From the strivings of the people, Thou placest me for a head of nations, A people I have not known do serve me.

Tu me livraste de um povo em revolta; fizeste-me o cabeça de nações; um povo que não conheci sujeita-se a mim.

44 A t the hearing of the ear they hearken to me, Sons of a stranger feign obedience to me,

Assim que me ouvem, me obedecem; são estrangeiros que se submetem a mim.

45 S ons of a stranger fade away, And are slain out of their close places.

Todos eles perderam a coragem; tremendo, saem das suas fortalezas.

46 J ehovah liveth -- and blessed my rock, And exalted is the God of my salvation.

O Senhor vive! Bendita seja a minha Rocha! Exaltado seja Deus, o meu Salvador!

47 G od -- who is giving vengeance to me, And He subdueth peoples under me,

Este é o Deus que em meu favor executa vingança, que a mim sujeita nações.

48 M y deliverer from mine enemies, Above my withstanders Thou raisest me, From a man of violence dost deliver me.

Tu me livraste dos meus inimigos; sim, fizeste-me triunfar sobre os meus agressores, e de homens violentos me libertaste.

49 T herefore I confess Thee among nations, O Jehovah, And to Thy name I sing praise,

Por isso eu te louvarei entre as nações, ó Senhor; cantarei louvores ao teu nome.

50 M agnifying the salvation of His king, And doing kindness to His anointed, To David, and to his seed -- unto the age!

Ele dá grandes vitórias ao seu rei; é bondoso com o seu ungido, com Davi e os seus descendentes para sempre.
