1 A nd Jehovah saith unto me: Though Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My soul is not toward this people, Send from before My face, and they go out.

Então o Senhor me disse: “Ainda que Moisés e Samuel estivessem diante de mim, intercedendo por este povo, eu não lhes mostraria favor. Expulse-os da minha presença! Que saiam!

2 A nd it hath come to pass, when they say to thee, Whither do we go out? that thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah: Those who for death -- to death, And those who are for the sword, to the sword, And those who are for famine, to famine, And those who are for captivity, to captivity.

E, se lhe perguntarem: ‘Para onde iremos?’, diga-lhes: Assim diz o Senhor: “Os destinados à morte, para a morte; os destinados à espada, para a espada; os destinados à fome, para a fome; os destinados ao cativeiro, para o cativeiro.

3 A nd I have appointed over them four kinds, an affirmation of Jehovah, The sword to slay, and the dogs to drag, And the fowl of the heavens, And the beast of the earth, to consume and to devour.

“Enviarei quatro tipos de destruidores contra eles”, declara o Senhor: “a espada para matar, os cães para dilacerar, as aves do céu e os animais selvagens para devorar e destruir.

4 A nd I have given them for a trembling To all kingdoms of the earth, Because of Manasseh son of Hezekiah king of Judah, For that which he did in Jerusalem.

Eu farei deles uma causa de terror para todas as nações da terra, por tudo o que Manassés, filho de Ezequias, rei de Judá, fez em Jerusalém.

5 F or who hath pity on thee, O Jerusalem? And who doth bemoan for thee? And who turneth aside to ask of thy welfare?

“Quem terá compaixão de você, ó Jerusalém? Quem se lamentará por você? Quem vai parar e perguntar como você está?

6 T hou -- thou hast left Me -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Backward thou goest, And I stretch out My hand against thee, And I destroy thee, I have been weary of repenting,

Você me rejeitou”, diz o Senhor. “Você vive se desviando. Por isso, porei as mãos em você e a destruirei; cansei-me de mostrar compaixão.

7 A nd I scatter them with a fan, in the gates the land, I bereaved, I have destroyed My people, From their ways they turned not back.

Eu os espalhei ao vento como palha nas cidades desta terra. Deixei-os sem filhos; destruí o meu povo, pois não se converteram de seus caminhos.

8 I ts widows have been more to Me than the sand of the seas, I brought in to them -- against the mother -- A young man -- a spoiler -- at noon. I caused to fall upon her suddenly, wrath and trouble.

Fiz com que as suas viúvas se tornassem mais numerosas do que a areia do mar. Ao meio-dia, trouxe um destruidor contra as mães dos jovens guerreiros; fiz cair sobre elas repentina angústia e pavor.

9 L anguished hath the bearer of seven, She hath breathed out her spirit, Gone in hath her sun while yet day, It hath been ashamed and confounded, And their residue to the sword I give up before their enemies, An affirmation of Jehovah.

A mãe de sete filhos desmaiou e está ofegante. Para ela o sol se pôs enquanto ainda era dia; ela foi envergonhada e humilhada. Entregarei os sobreviventes à espada diante dos seus inimigos”, declara o Senhor

10 W o to me, my mother, For thou hast borne me a man of strife, And a man of contention to all the land, I have not lent on usury, Nor have they lent on usury to me -- All of them are reviling me.

Ai de mim, minha mãe, por me haver dado à luz! Pois sou um homem em luta e em contenda com a terra toda! Nunca emprestei nem tomei emprestado, e assim mesmo todos me amaldiçoam.

11 J ehovah said, Did I not direct thee for good? Did not I intercede for thee in a time of evil, And in a time of adversity, with the enemy?

O Senhor disse: “Eu certamente o fortaleci para o bem e intervim por você, na época da desgraça e da adversidade, por causa do inimigo.

12 D oth one break iron -- northern iron, and brass?

“Será alguém capaz de quebrar o ferro, o ferro que vem do norte, ou o bronze?

13 T hy strength and thy treasures For a prey I do give -- not for price, Even for all thy sins, and in all thy borders.

Diga a esse povo: Darei de graça a sua riqueza e os seus tesouros como despojo, por causa de todos os seus pecados em toda a sua terra.

14 A nd I have caused thine enemies To pass over into the land -- Thou hast not known, For a fire hath been kindled in Mine anger, Against you it doth burn.

Eu os tornarei escravos de seus inimigos, numa terra que vocês não conhecem, pois a minha ira acenderá um fogo que arderá contra vocês”.

15 T hou, Thou hast known, O Jehovah, Remember me, and inspect me, And take vengeance for me of my pursuers, In Thy long-suffering take me not away, Know -- I have borne for Thee reproach.

Tu me conheces, Senhor; lembra-te de mim, vem em meu auxílio e vinga-me dos meus perseguidores. Que, pela tua paciência para com eles, eu não seja eliminado. Sabes que sofro afronta por tua causa.

16 T hy words have been found, and I eat them, And Thy word is to me for a joy, And for the rejoicing of my heart, For Thy name is called on me, O Jehovah, God of Hosts.

Quando as tuas palavras foram encontradas, eu as comi; elas são a minha alegria e o meu júbilo, pois pertenço a ti, Senhor Deus dos Exércitos.

17 I have not sat in an assembly of deriders, Nor do I exult, because of thy hand, -- Alone I have sat, For indignation Thou hast filled me.

Jamais me sentei na companhia dos que se divertem, nunca festejei com eles. Sentei-me sozinho, porque a tua mão estava sobre mim e me encheste de indignação.

18 W hy hath my pain been perpetual? And my wound incurable? It hath refused to be healed, Thou art surely to me as a failing stream, Waters not stedfast.

Por que é permanente a minha dor, e a minha ferida é grave e incurável? Por que te tornaste para mim como um riacho seco, cujos mananciais falham?

19 T herefore, thus said Jehovah: If thou turnest back, then I bring thee back, Before Me thou dost stand, And if thou bringest out the precious from the vile, As My mouth thou art! They -- they turn back unto thee, And thou dost not turn back unto them.

Assim respondeu o Senhor: “Se você se arrepender, eu o restaurarei para que possa me servir; se você disser palavras de valor, e não indignas, será o meu porta-voz. Deixe este povo voltar-se para você, mas não se volte para eles.

20 A nd I have made thee to this people For a wall -- brazen -- fenced, And they have fought against thee, And they do not prevail against thee, For with thee I to save thee, And to deliver thee -- an affirmation of Jehovah,

Eu farei de você uma muralha de bronze fortificada diante deste povo; lutarão contra você, mas não o vencerão, pois estou com você para resgatá-lo e salvá-lo”, declara o Senhor.

21 A nd I have delivered thee from the hand of evil doers, And I have ransomed thee From the hand of the terrible!

“Eu o livrarei das mãos dos ímpios e o resgatarei das garras dos violentos”.
