1 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that God hath tried Abraham, and saith unto him, `Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I.'

Passado algum tempo, Deus pôs Abraão à prova, dizendo-lhe: “Abraão!” Ele respondeu: “Eis-me aqui”.

2 A nd He saith, `Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou hast loved, even Isaac, and go for thyself unto the land of Moriah, and cause him to ascend there for a burnt-offering on one of the mountains of which I speak unto thee.'

Então disse Deus: “Tome seu filho, seu único filho, Isaque, a quem você ama, e vá para a região de Moriá. Sacrifique-o ali como holocausto num dos montes que lhe indicarei”.

3 A nd Abraham riseth early in the morning, and saddleth his ass, and taketh two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and he cleaveth the wood of the burnt-offering, and riseth and goeth unto the place of which God hath spoken to him.

Na manhã seguinte, Abraão levantou-se e preparou o seu jumento. Levou consigo dois de seus servos e Isaque, seu filho. Depois de cortar lenha para o holocausto, partiu em direção ao lugar que Deus lhe havia indicado.

4 O n the third day -- Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and seeth the place from afar;

No terceiro dia de viagem, Abraão olhou e viu o lugar ao longe.

5 a nd Abraham saith unto his young men, `Remain by yourselves here with the ass, and I and the youth go yonder and worship, and turn back unto you.'

Disse ele a seus servos: “Fiquem aqui com o jumento enquanto eu e o rapaz vamos até lá. Depois de adorarmos, voltaremos”.

6 A nd Abraham taketh the wood of the burnt-offering, and placeth on Isaac his son, and he taketh in his hand the fire, and the knife; and they go on both of them together.

Abraão pegou a lenha para o holocausto e a colocou nos ombros de seu filho Isaque, e ele mesmo levou as brasas para o fogo, e a faca. E caminhando os dois juntos,

7 A nd Isaac speaketh unto Abraham his father, and saith, `My father,' and he saith, `Here I, my son.' And he saith, `Lo, the fire and the wood, and where the lamb for a burnt-offering?'

Isaque disse a seu pai Abraão: “Meu pai!” “Sim, meu filho”, respondeu Abraão. Isaque perguntou: “As brasas e a lenha estão aqui, mas onde está o cordeiro para o holocausto?”

8 a nd Abraham saith, `God doth provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt-offering, my son;' and they go on both of them together.

Respondeu Abraão: “Deus mesmo há de prover o cordeiro para o holocausto, meu filho”. E os dois continuaram a caminhar juntos.

9 A nd they come in unto the place of which God hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood, and bindeth Isaac his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood;

Quando chegaram ao lugar que Deus lhe havia indicado, Abraão construiu um altar e sobre ele arrumou a lenha. Amarrou seu filho Isaque e o colocou sobre o altar, em cima da lenha.

10 a nd Abraham putteth forth his hand, and taketh the knife -- to slaughter his son.

Então estendeu a mão e pegou a faca para sacrificar seu filho.

11 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto him from the heavens, and saith, `Abraham, Abraham;' and he saith, `Here I;'

Mas o Anjo do Senhor o chamou do céu: “Abraão! Abraão!” “Eis-me aqui”, respondeu ele.

12 a nd He saith, `Put not forth thine hand unto the youth, nor do anything to him, for now I have known that thou art fearing God, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from Me.'

“Não toque no rapaz”, disse o Anjo. “Não lhe faça nada. Agora sei que você teme a Deus, porque não me negou seu filho, o seu único filho.”

13 A nd Abraham lifteth up his eyes, and looketh, and lo, a ram behind, seized in a thicket by its horns; and Abraham goeth, and taketh the ram, and causeth it to ascend for a burnt-offering instead of his son;

Abraão ergueu os olhos e viu um carneiro preso pelos chifres num arbusto. Foi lá pegá-lo, e o sacrificou como holocausto em lugar de seu filho.

14 a nd Abraham calleth the name of that place `Jehovah-Jireh,' because it is said this day in the mount, `Jehovah doth provide.'

Abraão deu àquele lugar o nome de “O Senhor Proverá”. Por isso até hoje se diz: “No monte do Senhor se proverá”.

15 A nd the messenger of Jehovah calleth unto Abraham a second time from the heavens,

Pela segunda vez o Anjo do Senhor chamou do céu a Abraão

16 a nd saith, `By Myself I have sworn -- the affirmation of Jehovah -- that because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one --

e disse: “Juro por mim mesmo”, declara o Senhor, “que por ter feito o que fez, não me negando seu filho, o seu único filho,

17 t hat blessing I bless thee, and multiplying I multiply thy seed as stars of the heavens, and as sand which on the sea-shore; and thy seed doth possess the gate of his enemies;

esteja certo de que o abençoarei e farei seus descendentes tão numerosos como as estrelas do céu e como a areia das praias do mar. Sua descendência conquistará as cidades dos que lhe forem inimigos

18 a nd blessed themselves in thy seed have all nations of the earth, because that thou hast hearkened to My voice.'

e, por meio dela, todos os povos da terra serão abençoados, porque você me obedeceu”.

19 A nd Abraham turneth back unto his young men, and they rise and go together unto Beer-Sheba; and Abraham dwelleth in Beer-Sheba.

Então voltou Abraão a seus servos, e juntos partiram para Berseba, onde passou a viver. Os Filhos de Naor

20 A nd it cometh to pass after these things that it is declared to Abraham, saying, `Lo, Milcah hath borne, even she, sons to Nahor thy brother:

Passado algum tempo, disseram a Abraão que Milca dera filhos a seu irmão Naor:

21 H uz his first-born, and Buz his brother; and Kemuel father of Aram,

Uz, o mais velho, Buz, seu irmão, Quemuel, pai de Arã,

22 a nd Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

Quésede, Hazo, Pildas, Jidlafe e Betuel,

23 a nd Bethuel hath begotten Rebekah;' these eight hath Milcah borne to Nahor, Abraham's brother;

pai de Rebeca. Estes foram os oito filhos que Milca deu a Naor, irmão de Abraão.

24 a nd his concubine, whose name Reumah, she also hath borne Tebah, and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maachah.

E sua concubina, chamada Reumá, teve os seguintes filhos: Tebá, Gaã, Taás e Maaca.
