1 ` And Moses -- the elders of Israel also -- commandeth the people, saying, Keep all the command which I am commanding you to-day;

Moisés, acompanhado das autoridades de Israel, ordenou ao povo: “Obedeçam a toda esta lei que hoje lhes dou.

2 a nd it hath been, in the day that ye pass over the Jordan unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee, that thou hast raised up for thee great stones, and plaistered them with plaister,

Quando vocês atravessarem o Jordão, e entrarem na terra que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes dá, levantem algumas pedras grandes e pintem-nas com cal.

3 a nd written on them all the words of this law in thy passing over, so that thou goest in unto the land which Jehovah thy God is giving to thee -- a land flowing with milk and honey, as Jehovah, God of thy fathers, hath spoken to thee.

Escrevam nelas todas as palavras desta lei, assim que tiverem atravessado para entrar na terra que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes dá, terra onde manam leite e mel, como o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, lhes prometeu.

4 ` And it hath been, in your passing over the Jordan, ye raise up these stones which I am commanding you to-day, in mount Ebal, and thou hast plaistered them with plaister,

E, quando tiverem atravessado o Jordão, levantem essas pedras no monte Ebal, como hoje lhes ordeno, e pintem-nas com cal.

5 a nd built there an altar to Jehovah thy God, an altar of stones, thou dost not wave over them iron.

Construam ali um altar ao Senhor, o seu Deus, um altar de pedras. Não utilizem ferramenta de ferro nas pedras.

6 O f complete stones thou buildest the altar of Jehovah thy God, and hast caused to ascend on it burnt-offerings to Jehovah thy God,

Façam o altar do Senhor, o seu Deus, com pedras brutas, e sobre ele ofereçam holocaustos ao Senhor, o seu Deus.

7 a nd sacrificed peace-offerings, and eaten there, and rejoiced before Jehovah thy God,

Ofereçam também sacrifícios de comunhão, e comam e alegrem-se na presença do Senhor, o seu Deus.

8 a nd written on the stones all the words of this law, well engraved.'

E nessas pedras que levantarem, vocês escreverão com bastante clareza todas as palavras desta lei”. As Maldições Proferidas do Monte Ebal

9 A nd Moses speaketh -- the priests, the Levites, also -- unto all Israel, saying, `Keep silent, and hear, O Israel, this day thou hast become a people to Jehovah thy God;

Então Moisés, tendo ao seu lado os sacerdotes levitas, disse a todo o Israel: “Faça silêncio e escute, ó Israel! Agora você se tornou o povo do Senhor, o seu Deus.

10 a nd thou hast hearkened to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and done His commands, and His statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day.'

Obedeça ao Senhor, o seu Deus, e siga os seus mandamentos e decretos que hoje lhe dou”.

11 A nd Moses commandeth the people on that day, saying,

No mesmo dia Moisés ordenou ao povo:

12 ` These do stand, to bless the people, on mount Gerizzim, in your passing over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin.

“Quando vocês tiverem atravessado o Jordão, as tribos que estarão no monte Gerizim para abençoar o povo serão: Simeão, Levi, Judá, Issacar, José e Benjamim.

13 A nd these do stand, for the reviling, on mount Ebal: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

E as tribos que estarão no monte Ebal para declararem maldições serão: Rúben, Gade, Aser, Zebulom, Dã e Naftali.

14 ` And the Levites have answered and said unto every man of Israel -- a loud voice:

“E os levitas recitarão a todo o povo de Israel em alta voz:

15 ` Cursed the man who maketh a graven and molten image, the abomination of Jehovah, work of the hands of an artificer, and hath put in a secret place, -- and all the people have answered and said, Amen.

“‘Maldito quem esculpir uma imagem ou fizer um ídolo fundido, obra de artesãos, detestável ao Senhor, e levantá-lo secretamente’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

16 ` Cursed He who is making light of his father and his mother, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem desonrar o seu pai ou a sua mãe’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

17 ` Cursed he who is removing his neighbour's border, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem mudar o marco de divisa da propriedade do seu próximo’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

18 ` Cursed he who is causing the blind to err in the way, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem fizer o cego errar o caminho’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

19 ` Cursed he who is turning aside the judgment of fatherless, sojourner, and widow, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem negar justiça ao estrangeiro, ao órfão ou à viúva’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

20 ` Cursed he who is lying with his father's wife, for he hath uncovered his father's skirt, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem se deitar com a mulher do seu pai, desonrando a cama do seu pai’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

21 ` Cursed he who is lying with any beast, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem tiver relações sexuais com algum animal’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

22 ` Cursed he who is lying with his sister, daughter of his father, or daughter of his mother, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem se deitar com a sua irmã, filha do seu pai ou da sua mãe’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

23 ` Cursed he who is lying with his mother-in-law, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem se deitar com a sua sogra’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

24 ` Cursed he who is smiting his neighbour in secret, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem matar secretamente o seu próximo’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

25 ` Cursed he who is taking a bribe to smite a person, innocent blood, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem aceitar pagamento para matar um inocente’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’

26 ` Cursed he who doth not establish the words of this law, to do them, -- and all the people have said, Amen.

‘Maldito quem não puser em prática as palavras desta lei’. Todo o povo dirá: ‘Amém!’
