1 A nd having entered, he was passing through Jericho,

Jesus entrou em Jericó, e atravessava a cidade.

2 a nd lo, a man, by name called Zaccheus, and he was a chief tax-gatherer, and he was rich,

Havia ali um homem rico chamado Zaqueu, chefe dos publicanos.

3 a nd he was seeking to see Jesus, who he is, and was not able for the multitude, because in stature he was small,

Ele queria ver quem era Jesus, mas, sendo de pequena estatura, não o conseguia, por causa da multidão.

4 a nd having run forward before, he went up on a sycamore, that he may see him, because through that he was about to pass by.

Assim, correu adiante e subiu numa figueira brava para vê-lo, pois Jesus ia passar por ali.

5 A nd as Jesus came up to the place, having looked up, he saw him, and said unto him, `Zaccheus, having hastened, come down, for to-day in thy house it behoveth me to remain;'

Quando Jesus chegou àquele lugar, olhou para cima e lhe disse: “Zaqueu, desça depressa. Quero ficar em sua casa hoje”.

6 a nd he having hastened did come down, and did receive him rejoicing;

Então ele desceu rapidamente e o recebeu com alegria.

7 a nd having seen, they were all murmuring, saying -- `With a sinful man he went in to lodge!'

Todo o povo viu isso e começou a se queixar: “Ele se hospedou na casa de um ‘pecador’”.

8 A nd Zaccheus having stood, said unto the Lord, `Lo, the half of my goods, sir, I give to the poor, and if of any one anything I did take by false accusation, I give back fourfold.'

Mas Zaqueu levantou-se e disse ao Senhor: “Olha, Senhor! Estou dando a metade dos meus bens aos pobres; e se de alguém extorqui alguma coisa, devolverei quatro vezes mais”.

9 A nd Jesus said unto him -- `To-day salvation did come to this house, inasmuch as he also is a son of Abraham;

Jesus lhe disse: “Hoje houve salvação nesta casa! Porque este homem também é filho de Abraão.

10 f or the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.'

Pois o Filho do homem veio buscar e salvar o que estava perdido”. A Parábola das Dez Minas

11 A nd while they are hearing these things, having added he spake a simile, because of his being nigh to Jerusalem, and of their thinking that the reign of God is about presently to be made manifest.

Estando eles a ouvi-lo, Jesus passou a contar-lhes uma parábola, porque estava perto de Jerusalém e o povo pensava que o Reino de Deus ia se manifestar de imediato.

12 H e said therefore, `A certain man of birth went on to a far country, to take to himself a kingdom, and to return,

Ele disse: “Um homem de nobre nascimento foi para uma terra distante para ser coroado rei e depois voltar.

13 a nd having called ten servants of his own, he gave to them ten pounds, and said unto them, Do business -- till I come;

Então, chamou dez dos seus servos e lhes deu dez minas. Disse ele: ‘Façam esse dinheiro render até a minha volta’.

14 a nd his citizens were hating him, and did send an embassy after him, saying, We do not wish this one to reign over us.

“Mas os seus súditos o odiavam e por isso enviaram uma delegação para lhe dizer: ‘Não queremos que este homem seja nosso rei’.

15 ` And it came to pass, on his coming back, having taken the kingdom, that he commanded these servants to be called to him, to whom he gave the money, that he might know what any one had done in business.

“Contudo, ele foi feito rei e voltou. Então mandou chamar os servos a quem dera o dinheiro, a fim de saber quanto tinham lucrado.

16 ` And the first came near, saying, Sir, thy pound did gain ten pounds;

“O primeiro veio e disse: ‘Senhor, a tua mina rendeu outras dez’.

17 a nd he said to him, Well done, good servant, because in a very little thou didst become faithful, be having authority over ten cities.

“‘Muito bem, meu bom servo!’, respondeu o seu senhor. ‘Por ter sido confiável no pouco, governe sobre dez cidades.’

18 ` And the second came, saying, Sir, thy pound made five pounds;

“O segundo veio e disse: ‘Senhor, a tua mina rendeu cinco vezes mais’.

19 a nd he said also to this one, And thou, become thou over five cities.

“O seu senhor respondeu: ‘Também você, encarregue-se de cinco cidades’.

20 ` And another came, saying, Sir, lo, thy pound, that I had lying away in a napkin;

“Então veio outro servo e disse: ‘Senhor, aqui está a tua mina; eu a conservei guardada num pedaço de pano.

21 f or I was afraid of thee, because thou art an austere man; thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and reapest what thou didst not sow.

Tive medo, porque és um homem severo. Tiras o que não puseste e colhes o que não semeaste’.

22 ` And he saith to him, Out of thy mouth I will judge thee, evil servant: thou knewest that I am an austere man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow!

“O seu senhor respondeu: ‘Eu o julgarei pelas suas próprias palavras, servo mau! Você sabia que sou homem severo, que tiro o que não pus e colho o que não semeei.

23 a nd wherefore didst thou not give my money to the bank, and I, having come, with interest might have received it?

Então, por que não confiou o meu dinheiro ao banco? Assim, quando eu voltasse o receberia com os juros’.

24 ` And to those standing by he said, Take from him the pound, and give to him having the ten pounds --

“E disse aos que estavam ali: ‘Tomem dele a sua mina e dêem-na ao que tem dez’.

25 ( and they said to him, Sir, he hath ten pounds) --

“‘Senhor’, disseram, ‘ele já tem dez!’

26 f or I say to you, that to every one having shall be given, and from him not having, also what he hath shall be taken from him,

“Ele respondeu: ‘Eu lhes digo que a quem tem, mais será dado, mas a quem não tem, até o que tiver lhe será tirado.

27 b ut those my enemies, who did not wish me to reign over them, bring hither and slay before me.'

E aqueles inimigos meus, que não queriam que eu reinasse sobre eles, tragam-nos aqui e matem-nos na minha frente!’” A Entrada Triunfal

28 A nd having said these things, he went on before, going up to Jerusalem.

Depois de dizer isso, Jesus foi adiante, subindo para Jerusalém.

29 A nd it came to pass, as he came nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, unto the mount called of the Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

Ao aproximar-se de Betfagé e de Betânia, no monte chamado das Oliveiras, enviou dois dos seus discípulos, dizendo-lhes:

30 h aving said, Go away to the village over-against, in which, entering into, ye shall find a colt bound, on which no one of men did ever sit, having loosed it, bring;

“Vão ao povoado que está adiante e, ao entrarem, encontrarão um jumentinho amarrado, no qual ninguém jamais montou. Desamarrem-no e tragam-no aqui.

31 a nd if any one doth question you, Wherefore do ye loose ? thus ye shall say to him -- The Lord hath need of it.'

Se alguém lhes perguntar: ‘Por que o estão desamarrando?’ digam-lhe: O Senhor precisa dele”.

32 A nd those sent, having gone away, found according as he said to them,

Os que tinham sido enviados foram e encontraram o animal exatamente como ele lhes tinha dito.

33 a nd while they are loosing the colt, its owners said unto them, `Why loose ye the colt?'

Quando estavam desamarrando o jumentinho, os seus donos lhes perguntaram: “Por que vocês estão desamarrando o jumentinho?”

34 a nd they said, `The Lord hath need of it;'

Eles responderam: “O Senhor precisa dele”.

35 a nd they brought it unto Jesus, and having cast their garments upon the colt, they did set Jesus upon it.

Levaram-no a Jesus, lançaram seus mantos sobre o jumentinho e fizeram que Jesus montasse nele.

36 A nd as he is going, they were spreading their garments in the way,

Enquanto ele prosseguia, o povo estendia os seus mantos pelo caminho.

37 a nd as he is coming nigh now, at the descent of the mount of the Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began rejoicing to praise God with a great voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

Quando ele já estava perto da descida do monte das Oliveiras, toda a multidão dos discípulos começou a louvar a Deus alegremente e em alta voz, por todos os milagres que tinham visto. Exclamavam:

38 s aying, `blessed he who is coming, a king in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.'

“Bendito é o rei que vem em nome do Senhor!” “Paz no céu e glória nas alturas!”

39 A nd certain of the Pharisees from the multitude said unto him, `Teacher, rebuke thy disciples;'

Alguns dos fariseus que estavam no meio da multidão disseram a Jesus: “Mestre, repreende os teus discípulos!”

40 a nd he answering said to them, `I say to you, that, if these shall be silent, the stones will cry out!'

“Eu lhes digo”, respondeu ele; “se eles se calarem, as pedras clamarão.” Lamento sobre Jerusalém

41 A nd when he came nigh, having seen the city, he wept over it,

Quando se aproximou e viu a cidade, Jesus chorou sobre ela

42 s aying -- `If thou didst know, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things for thy peace; but now they were hid from thine eyes.

e disse: “Se você compreendesse neste dia, sim, você também, o que traz a paz! Mas agora isso está oculto aos seus olhos.

43 ` Because days shall come upon thee, and thine enemies shall cast around thee a rampart, and compass thee round, and press thee on every side,

Virão dias em que os seus inimigos construirão trincheiras contra você, a rodearão e a cercarão de todos os lados.

44 a nd lay thee low, and thy children within thee, and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone, because thou didst not know the time of thy inspection.'

Também a lançarão por terra, você e os seus filhos. Não deixarão pedra sobre pedra, porque você não reconheceu a oportunidade que Deus lhe concedeu”. Jesus Purifica o Templo

45 A nd having entered into the temple, he began to cast forth those selling in it, and those buying,

Então ele entrou no templo e começou a expulsar os que estavam vendendo.

46 s aying to them, `It hath been written, My house is a house of prayer -- but ye made it a den of robbers.'

Disse-lhes: “Está escrito: ‘A minha casa será casa de oração’; mas vocês fizeram dela ‘um covil de ladrões’ ”.

47 A nd he was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him -- also the chiefs of the people --

Todos os dias ele ensinava no templo. Mas os chefes dos sacerdotes, os mestres da lei e os líderes do povo procuravam matá-lo.

48 a nd they were not finding what they shall do, for all the people were hanging on him, hearing him.

Todavia, não conseguiam encontrar uma forma de fazê-lo, porque todo o povo estava fascinado pelas suas palavras.
