Que desgraça a minha! Sou como quem colhe frutos de verão na respiga da vinha; não há nenhum cacho de uvas para provar, nenhum figo novo que eu tanto desejo.

Os piedosos desapareceram do país; não há um justo sequer. Todos estão à espreita para derramar sangue; cada um caça seu irmão com uma armadilha.

Com as mãos prontas para fazer o mal o governante exige presentes, o juiz aceita suborno, os poderosos impõem o que querem; todos tramam em conjunto.

4 T heir best one as a brier, The upright one -- than a thorn-hedge, The day of thy watchmen -- Thy visitation -- hath come. Now is their perplexity.

O melhor deles é como espinheiro, e o mais correto é pior que uma cerca de espinhos. Chegou o dia anunciado pelas suas sentinelas, o dia do castigo de Deus. Agora reinará a confusão entre eles.

6 F or a son is dishonouring a father, A daughter hath stood against her mother, A daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law, The enemies of each the men of his house.

Pois o filho despreza o pai, a filha se rebela contra a mãe, a nora, contra a sogra; os inimigos do homem são os seus próprios familiares.

7 A nd I -- in Jehovah I do watch, I do wait for the God of my salvation, Hear me doth my God.

Mas, quanto a mim, ficarei atento ao Senhor, esperando em Deus, o meu Salvador, pois o meu Deus me ouvirá. Israel se Levantará

8 T hou dost not rejoice over me, O mine enemy, When I have fallen, I have risen, When I sit in darkness Jehovah is a light to me.

Não se alegre a minha inimiga com a minha desgraça. Embora eu tenha caído, eu me levantarei. Embora eu esteja morando nas trevas, o Senhor será a minha luz.

9 T he indignation of Jehovah I do bear, For I have sinned against Him, Till that He doth plead my cause, And hath executed my judgment, He doth bring me forth to the light, I look on His righteousness.

Por eu ter pecado contra o Senhor, suportarei a sua ira até que ele apresente a minha defesa e estabeleça o meu direito. Ele me fará sair para a luz; contemplarei a sua justiça.

10 A nd see doth mine enemy, And cover her doth shame, Who saith unto me, `Where Jehovah thy God?' Mine eyes do look on her, Now she is for a treading-place, As mire of the out-places.

Então a minha inimiga o verá e ficará coberta de vergonha, ela, que me disse: “Onde está o Senhor, o seu Deus?” Meus olhos verão a sua queda; ela será pisada como o barro das ruas.

11 T he day to build thy walls! That day -- removed is the limit.

O dia da reconstrução dos seus muros chegará, o dia em que se ampliarão as suas fronteiras virá.

12 T hat day -- even unto thee it doth come in, From Asshur and the cities of the fortress, And from the fortress even unto the river, And from sea to sea, and mount to mount.

Naquele dia virá a você gente desde a Assíria até o Egito, e desde o Egito até o Eufrates, de mar a mar e de montanha a montanha.

13 A nd the land hath been for a desolation, Because of its inhabitants, Because of the fruit of their doings.

Mas a terra será desolada por causa dos seus habitantes, em conseqüência de suas ações. Súplica por Misericórdia

14 R ule Thou Thy people with Thy rod, The flock of Thine inheritance, Dwelling alone a forest in the midst of Carmel, They enjoy Bashan and Gilead as in days of old.

Pastoreia o teu povo com o teu cajado, o rebanho da tua herança que vive à parte numa floresta, em férteis pastagens. Deixa-o pastar em Basã e em Gileade, como antigamente.

15 A ccording to the days of thy coming forth out of the land of Egypt, I do shew it wonderful things.

“Como nos dias em que você saiu do Egito, ali mostrarei as minhas maravilhas.”

16 S ee do nations, and they are ashamed of all their might, They lay a hand on the mouth, their ears are deaf.

As nações verão isso e se envergonharão, despojadas de todo o seu poder. Porão a mão sobre a boca, e taparão os ouvidos.

17 T hey lick dust as a serpent, as fearful things of earth, They tremble from their enclosures, Of Jehovah our God they are afraid, Yea, they are afraid of Thee.

Lamberão o pó como a serpente, como animais que se arrastam no chão. Sairão tremendo das suas fortalezas; com temor se voltarão para o Senhor, o nosso Deus, e terão medo de ti.

18 W ho a God like Thee? taking away iniquity, And passing by the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance, He hath not retained for ever His anger, Because He -- He delighteth kindness.

Quem é comparável a ti, ó Deus, que perdoas o pecado e esqueces a transgressão do remanescente da sua herança? Tu, que não permaneces irado para sempre, mas tens prazer em mostrar amor.

19 H e doth turn back, He pitieth us, He doth subdue our iniquities, And Thou castest into the depths of the sea all their sins.

De novo terás compaixão de nós; pisarás as nossas maldades e atirarás todos os nossos pecados nas profundezas do mar.

20 T hou givest truth to Jacob, kindness to Abraham, That thou hast sworn to our fathers, from the days of antiquity!

Mostrarás fidelidade a Jacó, e bondade a Abraão, conforme prometeste sob juramento aos nossos antepassados, na antigüidade.
