Grande é o Senhor, e digno de todo louvor na cidade do nosso Deus.

2 B eautiful elevation, A joy of all the land, Mount Zion, The sides of the north, the city of a great king.

Seu santo monte, belo e majestoso, é a alegria de toda a terra. Como as alturas do Zafom é o monte Sião, a cidade do grande Rei.

3 G od in her high places is known for a tower.

Nas suas cidadelas Deus se revela como sua proteção.

4 F or, lo, the kings met, they passed by together,

Vejam! Os reis somaram forças, e juntos avançaram contra ela.

5 T hey have seen -- so they have marvelled, They have been troubled, they were hastened away.

Quando a viram, ficaram atônitos, fugiram aterrorizados.

6 T rembling hath seized them there, Pain, as of a travailing woman.

Ali mesmo o pavor os dominou; contorceram-se como a mulher no parto.

7 B y an east wind Thou shiverest ships of Tarshish.

Foste como o vento oriental quando destruiu os navios de Társis.

8 A s we have heard, so we have seen, In the city of Jehovah of hosts, In the city of our God, God doth establish her -- to the age. Selah.

Como já temos ouvido, agora também temos visto na cidade do Senhor dos Exércitos, na cidade de nosso Deus: Deus a preserva firme para sempre. Pausa

9 W e have thought, O God, of Thy kindness, In the midst of Thy temple,

No teu templo, ó Deus, meditamos em teu amor leal.

10 A s Thy name, O God, so Thy praise, Over the ends of the earth, Righteousness hath filled Thy right hand.

Como o teu nome, ó Deus, o teu louvor alcança os confins da terra; a tua mão direita está cheia de justiça.

11 R ejoice doth Mount Zion, The daughters of Judah are joyful, For the sake of Thy judgments.

O monte Sião se alegra, as cidades de Judá exultam por causa das tuas decisões justas.

12 C ompass Zion, and go round her, count her towers,

Percorram Sião, contornando-a, contem as suas torres,

13 S et your heart to her bulwark, Consider her high places, So that ye recount to a later generation,

observem bem as suas muralhas, examinem as suas cidadelas, para que vocês falem à próxima geração

14 T hat this God our God -- To the age and for ever, He -- he doth lead us over death!

que este Deus é o nosso Deus para todo o sempre; ele será o nosso guia até o fim.
